Cafes and culture

Places like Islington and Stoke Newington brag a pleasing mix of hustle and bustle and green space. On Islington’s cosmopolitan Upper Street, stylish bistros line up against old-world pubs and contemporary cocktail spots. Also, the district’s Farmers’ Market was actually the first to be set up in London, launched in 1999 by food writer, Nina Planck. Today it pulls in big crowds each Sunday, with 30-plus stalls piled high with fresh produce.

Stoke Newington gives East London’s edgy postcodes a run for their money, with its vintage stores and Art Deco cinema. And close-by Highbury is sleepier than its neighbours, with a great line in gastropubs and a much-loved namesake park.

This North London area offers lots for culture buffs, too. Settle in for a dazzling performance at the Sadler’s Wells dance studio or the Almeida theatre. And in the summer, don’t miss Stoke Newington’s literary festival, dubbed ‘one of the best book bashes in the UK’ by pop culture website, The Quietus. 18th century Abney Park cemetery, one of London’s Magnificent Seven cemeteries, is another must-visit. The burial ground of famous figures such as Salvation Army Founder, William Booth, it doubles as a nature reserve and offers workshops in things like stone carving.

Nearby Finsbury Park is best-known for its 46-acre expanse of the same name. This is another creative big-hitter, thanks to the Park Theatre and a reputable performing arts centre for young people.

North London’s sports stars

Arsenal supporters can count Emirates Stadium as a neighbour in Holloway, just north of Islington’s Upper Street. This suburb has a plethora of quality pubs, which, naturally, overflow with red shirts on game days. Opt for a flat at the Drayton Park Apartments and you will be next door to the stadium, which has been rated as one of the best places to live in North London.

Move north to Tottenham, meanwhile, and brilliant days out can be had at Spurs’ home stadium on White Hart Lane. N17 is celebrated for its diversity – head to Seven Sisters Road for a conga-line of flavours – from Italian antipasti to Greek grilled meats. Or hit Seven Sisters Market for a taste of Latin America.

Old Street Stairs

Family-friendly neighbourhoods

Places like Alexandra Palace, Wood Green and Highgate have real family appeal, with good schools, leafy parks and Victorian and Edwardian housing. Highgate, in particular, offers spectacular views over the surrounding countryside, with a hilltop setting on the fringes of Hampstead Heath.

Vantage Point has as one of its main perk the fact that it is literally standing on top of Archway tube station. The neighboorhood offers a wide range of groceries shops, a couple pubs and all services you may need (barber, laundry etc..).

Please review your development:

I personally love living in Vantage Point, being among the residents who make the most intense use of common areas and facilities of the building. Many spaces from which to decide where to work from, a good gym and a games room that allows you to have some great time when friends are visiting.
The freshly renewed furnitures are great and feels like an improvement, even if not drastic, from the previous ones that were already nice.
The few times I needed something to be fixed it was dealt with quite quickly and a big thank needs to go to Felix who is just amazing in providing help.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

When I moved in, the only thing I haven’t planned was the absence of pillows, but surely someone more prepared would have thought about it.
There is a parking space for bicycles and cars, but a motorbike will be treated as a car, same price and same random spaces, with no possibility to lock it to something.

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

Luckily, I only had few issues with the flat; but any time I needed something the residents-team has been available and helpful.

building security is a concern

House land lord is good but they are very slow at what they do. The local shops know how to take advantage.

Please review your development:

The top floor lounge relax area is a joke. The building security is a concern. The people who stay here are getting weirder, the tenants are now stealing products and other stuff and blaming it on the homeless people. It’s really weird that’s all I am
Gonna say.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

About the top floor guest/ pound area. It’s bad. And no one allows us to use it.

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

They respond but they take hell lot of time to respond.

Incredible Area, Poor Property Management

Incredible local area, as good as you could want in London – ample bars, cafes, restaurants within walking distance. Never short of options around the area.

Please review your development:

Great development, good quality space. Certain fittings are pretty poorly designed but overall really good. Absolutely dreadful responses when trying to get issues in the apartment fixed though, literally impossible to have the team fix any problems in the apartment so we’ve got a number of issues that we’ve had for years, have had about 10 handy men out to try and fix and which are still not sorted.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

That if anything in the apartment broke it would be almost impossible to get it fixed (even if you dedicate day after day after day to waiting at home for repair people to come – they’ll just stare at the problem, take a picture of it and then leave never to be seen again).

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

Really poor response. Initially good response over email but the ability to repair even the most basic issues is terrible – totally and utterly unreliable.

Very minimalistic design , really like it

Not a lot of shops around would have been perfect. Having more instructions on how to use the smart devices would have been great. Some times the street can get a little busy especially during school times.

Please review your development:

Very minimalistic design , really like it. I feel safe since the doors are secured. Also its in a very convenient location. There’s a youth centre next door but we haven’t had the chance to go in a check it out. The parking could have been larger than it is but that is not a deal breaker.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

I wish there were more instructions on how to use some of the smart devices

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

Very easy to address problems and solve them thanks to the online system.
