Peaceful, Convenient Area with Good Local Amenities and Transport Links

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

The area has a good range of local shops, supermarkets, restaurants, and cafés, making everyday shopping and dining convenient. There are also pleasant parks and open green spaces nearby for walking and outdoor activities. Public transport is mainly provided by regular bus services, which offer good access to surrounding areas, although there is no train station within close walking distance. Each property has its own allocated parking space, so parking is not an issue. The street is generally quiet, with little traffic noise, regular bin collections, and no significant problems with anti-social behaviour. Overall, it is a peaceful and convenient place to live.

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

Yes,all the time they have been responsive to any problem raised

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

One thing I wish I had known before moving in is that it would have been helpful to have a clearer understanding of the rent negotiation process and whether there was any flexibility available before agreeing to the final amount. Apart from that, the property has been a pleasant place to live. I would advise new neighbours to familiarise themselves with the local area, bus routes, and nearby amenities, as these details are not always obvious during a viewing. The allocated parking space, quiet street, and general upkeep of the area are definite positives.

Great place for life

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

I have been living at Scalars View for about five years. It is conveniently located near schools and public transport, offers affordable rates, and provides comfortable living. There is an Aldi nearby, and a bit further away, a Tesco and a local swimming pool, gym, and fitness centre. I probably don't need to mention hair and nail salons—there are plenty of them everywhere.

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

Prompt, same-day responses to inquiries, along with detailed, accessible, step-by-step instructions, are especially helpful for those with little prior experience dealing with rentals, security deposits, and related documentation.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

There is no place to store bicycles: leaving them in the courtyard carries a risk of theft (no one is immune to theft), and there is simply not enough space inside the house.

Manager response

Thank you for your review, Lika. We're delighted to hear that you've enjoyed living at Scalars View for the past five years and that you've found the lettings process, communication, and support from the team to be professional and responsive. It's great to know that the location and community continue to work well for you. We appreciate your feedback and suggestions, and we're grateful for your recommendation. We'll put forward the window cleaning suggestion to our team.

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

The location is excellent. A bus stop is just a two-minute walk away, making daily commuting very convenient. There is also a great primary school right next door, which is a real bonus for families. The neighbourhood is quiet and peaceful, and everything you need is within easy reach. I have not experienced any significant downsides so far.

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

The management team has been cooperative and responsive. Whenever we have raised a concern, they have dealt with it in a timely and professional manner, which gives great peace of mind as a new resident.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

Honestly, nothing in particular comes to mind. The move-in process was smooth and we felt well-informed from the start.

Manager response

Thank you for your review. We're delighted to hear that you and your family have settled in so well and that you're enjoying both your home and the local area. It's great to know that the location, nearby amenities, and support from the management team have helped make your experience such a positive one. We really appreciate your recommendation and wish you many happy years at The Rise.

Scholars View Development Review

Tenant (Tenant)

Verified Resident

Scholars View, DH5

Jul 2026

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

Living in Scholars View has been a positive experience. The area is quiet, tidy, and feels safe for families. One of the biggest advantages is the close distance to the primary school — only about a 5‑minute walk, which is extremely convenient. Local shops are limited, but larger supermarkets are around a 10‑minute drive away. Public transport links are generally reliable, though less frequent in the evenings. Bin collections are regular, and anti‑social behaviour is very rare. The main downside is that parking spaces aren’t marked for specific houses, which can cause some confusion. Inside the development the streets are calm with minimal traffic noise, although the main A182 road is quite busy — but only about six houses sit directly on it, and the rest of the development is set further back and stays peaceful. Overall, it’s a comfortable and friendly place to live.

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

Building management has responded relatively fast to any issues I’ve raised. Communication has been straightforward, and most concerns have been acknowledged and dealt with in a timely way. While some matters, like unmarked parking spaces, still need improvement, overall their response has been efficient and helpful.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

One thing I wish I had understood better before moving in is how uncomfortable the unmarked parking spaces can be. I knew the spaces weren’t allocated to specific houses, but I didn’t realise how often this would lead to confusion or awkward situations. It’s a small detail that isn’t obvious during a viewing, but it definitely affects day‑to‑day convenience. Other than that, the development has been a pleasant place to live.

Manager response

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We're really pleased to hear that you're enjoying life at Scholars View and appreciate your kind comments about the homes and the well-maintained surroundings. It's great to know that the community feels safe, welcoming and well suited to family life, particularly with local schools and amenities close by. We also appreciate your feedback regarding the unallocated parking spaces and understand how this can sometimes impact day-to-day convenience. Thank you for being a part of the Scholars View community. 😊

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

Good links by bus to Newcastle, Sunderland and Durham. Local shops are good and very convenient. We have a 2 bed bungalow at the front of the site near 2 areas of communal space that is well looked after all year round.

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

Yes, is easy to raise the issue via the website, this is acknowledged with an email and I have always been contacted very promptly with an appointment

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

That I would need garden storage and there is no outside tap.

Manager response

Thank you for your lovely review, Julie. We're so pleased to hear that you're enjoying your bungalow at Scholars View and that the design and layout work so well for your needs. It's also wonderful to hear your kind words about Dave and Emma. We'll be sure to pass on your feedback to them both. Knowing that issues are handled promptly and that support is always on hand is something we're very proud of. Thank you for taking the time to share your experience, and we're so pleased that Scholars View feels like home. 😊
