Milton Keynes

Just 50 miles to north east of London, Milton Keynes was devised as a ‘new town’ in the 1960s and continues to evolve and grow today. Famed for its roundabouts and district grids, the town has benefitted from a steady flow of new residents from London. House prices have seen strong growth, with amenities and schools now plentiful and high quality. Housing is more varied than its reputation might suggest, with everything from period properties in historic villages to new build homes in chic developments.

Areas to consider

Areas in Milton Keynes with more of a village-feel include Middleton and Loughton. These offer historic homes as well as new build properties. Bradwell and the Shenley Villages are also worth considering if this is what you’re looking for.

Slightly further out, areas like Wolverton and Bletchley offer a good mix of property types, while Willen is a popular spot for property hunters wanting to live close to the lake. Central Milton Keynes is great for modern rental developments, like Grainger’s Solstice Apartments – our highest-rated development in MK so far.

“We love living in Oakgrove. We moved here to be in one of the best school catchments in MK. Our children go to Monkston primary school and now will be in catchment for Oakgrove secondary school which is a great school.” – Everett, Verified Resident, Oakgrove Village

Transport

Milton Keynes offers outstanding transport connections, both locally and nationally. Six rail stations serve the main urban area, including Milton Keynes Central, Wolverton and Bletchley – all on the West Coast Main Line. The fastest services into London take just 35 minutes.

The M1 motorway connects Milton Keynes with the Midlands and the north, as well as southwards through Luton into London. Luton Airport provides the nearest options for both domestic and international flights, while extensive bus services provide excellent local connections between the various estates and the centre of MK.

“Very close to the shopping centre and short walk to the park. Incredibly convenient to get on M1 in terms of commuting.” – Ed S. Verified Resident, Solstice Apartments MK9

Reviews

Solstice apartments is a great place to live as the apartments are very modern and well furnished with good views of the centre. The location is ideal with it being right opposite the shopping centre and close to bars, pubs and restaurants.

We moved from South Africa to the area last month and have so far been nothing but impressed with the houses, facilities, shops, schools and roads.
– Loren R, Verified Resident on HomeViews, Oakgrove Village

Housing has been planned well in that there are plenty of green areas and parks, with the sound from the motorway almost non existent. It is located in the catchment of good schools and is well located for commuting, being close to the motorway, coach station and railway. There are a good selection of shops nearby and restaurants are located slightly further away, but still within walking distance.

Walking distance to Stony Stratford which is fantastic for local amenities. Lots of choice, character and independent businesses. Lots of community events. A great place to live.

A brilliant place to live

The best area to live in, in Milton Keynes! So many local restaurants and shops just round the corner, but the building is actually on a quiet road, parallel to the main boulevard, meaning there is little to no noise or anti-social behaviour. The view from the building is incredible – you can see over to the green space surrounding central Milton Keynes or look across to other buildings in the centre. The building is super close to the station and just round the corner from the big shopping centre.

Please review your development:

Amazing development! The amenities are just fab here – I love the rooftop, the co-working space, the free gym classes, the table tennis tables, the private kitchen you can book. Not to mention the secure post room and the lovely, welcoming reception. The management of the property is superb – what especially makes this development so unique are the kind, helpful and smiley reception staff and the security of the building.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

How friendly everyone in the building is! There is a lovely sense of community here. I have met so many people and been offered so much help from other tenants in my first week living here.

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

The reception staff are incredible – they are always on hand to help and are very smiley, kind people that make the building particularly welcoming. I had an issue with using the post boxes and app that went with it and Natalie was super helpful and immediately helped me get that sorted out 🙂

Amazing communal spaces, clean, light, and open

Good amenities close by, (supermarket, shopping center, restaurants) Parking permit is easily enough to attain, short walk. It would be nice if it was a bit closer.
