Good transport links & Michelin stars

Young professionals regularly vote Wandsworth as one of the best places to live in London, pipping sought-after postcodes like Battersea and Wimbledon to the post. And it’s no wonder. The area brags contemporary waterside apartments and great connections – it’s just 12 minutes to Waterloo from Wandsworth Town station, and Wandsworth Common gets commuters to Victoria in even less. There’s also a fabulous drinking and foodie scene here, largely centred on the area’s many pubs. The star of the show is pared-back Chez Bruce, on Bellevue Road, which has bagged a Michelin star for its delectable French cuisine and wines.

For those who want to be within easy walking distance from the station, Mapleton Crescent is a great option. This striking building’s brought to the area by Pocket Living – a company on a mission to design smart spaces for first-time buyers in prime London locations. This 27-storey tower houses 57 one-bed apartments, along with a river-facing state-of-the-art workspace and a rooftop terrace.

“The location is fantastic – within walking distance of shops, parks, gyms, supermarkets, pubs, restaurants, transport hubs – can’t complain at all!” Verified owner at Mapleton Crescent

Ram Quarter is another option. This one’s right in the heart of the borough, neighbouring the peaceful River Wandle. Developed by the Greenland Group, it’s a purpose-built neighbourhood with shops, restaurants and hundreds of one to four-bedroom flats. Ram Quarter, carefully converted from the former Young’s Brewery, and lots of its original features have been retained.

The Coopers Lofts are where the history of the site can really be felt – period features like high ceilings, exposed iron and brickwork, and restored industrial style windows are a throwback to the brewery’s 19th-century origins. Outside, the buildings facades preserve the heritage of the buildings.” – HomeViews Property Pro on Ram Quarter

Moved into the development in summer 2018 as a new build. Lovely spacious apartment with all modern fixtures and fittings. Great location with the south side shopping centre a 2min walk and lovely pubs and restaurants in the area. Easy access into Waterloo from Wandsworth town- 13min with trains every 10mins. Energy efficient apartments mean low bills, I think I’ve only had the heating on once since moving in.” – Amy, verified renter at Ram Quarter, in Wandsworth

Wandsworth’s greenery

Despite its plentiful hustle and bustle, Wandsworth is a peaceful, green borough – the perfect antidote to busy city life. Wandsworth Common is the area’s heart, an 175-acre stretch of picnic space and nature trails. There’s a wildlife centre and a lake made for strolling, as well. You’ll find more of the same at King George’s Park, plus sports pitches and a tennis club.

Nappy Valley

Naturally, all that green space – together with some excellent schools and good-size Victorian houses – has seen an increase in the family population here. So much so, Wandsworth’s been nicknamed ‘Nappy Valley’. It’s the mixture of ages in Wandsworth that make it the diverse, harmonious community it is. To see the local spirit at its best, head for the Wandsworth Fringe in May – a celebration of dance, theatre and art talent.

Sunday Mills house is in a great location with a warm and welcoming atmosphere, thanks to its friendly staff who are always accommodating. The community is inclusive, and the events held every week are fantastic, fostering a sense of togetherness among residents. The co-living setup is excellent, with all amenities provided. While the gym facilities are good, adding a few more pieces of equipment would enhance the experience. Overall, Sunday Mills Folk is a great place to live, offering a comfortable and enjoyable living environment.

Wish there was an option to pay extra for parking. Shame there is no tube station. Otherwise great location, good shops and pubs and great train line.

Please review your development:

Love the design very modern and the rustic ceilings. Building is always clean, bin room is always tidy. Staff seem good only 1 bad encounter with a staff member in my month of being here but it seems I just caught her on a bad day. Otherwise all great, helpful and friendly. Wish there was an option for the tenant to install sky tv in their room from a communal satalite. Don’t love that there is no free view on the tv.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

Great if a current tenant could show you around. I know easier said than done.

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

Very well. Freezer problem came up in the checkin document and someone came to look at it straight away.

Location is very convenient. We are just three stops from Waterloo station, we have 3 local supermarkets, nice independent coffee shops and restaurants. I also appreciate having hairdressers around, Wimbledon park when its summer.

Please review your development:

I think the design was made with good intentions overall, but there are certain things like the bed that cannot be easily lifted to maximise space storage, witch I think is a must in such a small studios, also the chairs in the coworking look nice but they are not comfortable. Also, the maintenance of the building is not great. The tap on the living room isn’t working, many ovens have been out of order for a while, the kitchen looks run down. In general the comunal areas have decline over time.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

I would say the bad for me is the strong bad smells from the shower, food smells from other rooms and noises from the fridge and train. The best are the gym, co-working and location.

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

In terms of communication by email I have really struggle in the past to get replies. But There are some specific people at reception that are really nice and helpful like Amarez and Ryan.

Manager Response

Hi S,

Thank you for your feedback, your design ideas are equally important to us, it is always helpful to hear from residents as they are the ones that uses the space the most.

We appreciate your comments on the communal maintenance, also that it can appear no progress is being made. We hope that you will see the improvement on this since leaving the review. The tap in the living room has been refixed and the issue with the ovens is a function setting on a few of them, please be advised the ovens in the community kitchen are in use. We apologise if this was not made clear in our communications.

Amarez and Ryan are great with their communication and updates with residents, thank you for mentioning this. There are times when we arrange cover staff when they are away and they do not typically have access to the systems we use. We will look into this further and see if there are any improvements we can make in these situations going forwards.

Best wishes
The team at Sunday Mills
