Good transport links & Michelin stars

Young professionals regularly vote Wandsworth as one of the best places to live in London, pipping sought-after postcodes like Battersea and Wimbledon to the post. And it’s no wonder. The area brags contemporary waterside apartments and great connections – it’s just 12 minutes to Waterloo from Wandsworth Town station, and Wandsworth Common gets commuters to Victoria in even less. There’s also a fabulous drinking and foodie scene here, largely centred on the area’s many pubs. The star of the show is pared-back Chez Bruce, on Bellevue Road, which has bagged a Michelin star for its delectable French cuisine and wines.

For those who want to be within easy walking distance from the station, Mapleton Crescent is a great option. This striking building’s brought to the area by Pocket Living – a company on a mission to design smart spaces for first-time buyers in prime London locations. This 27-storey tower houses 57 one-bed apartments, along with a river-facing state-of-the-art workspace and a rooftop terrace.

“The location is fantastic – within walking distance of shops, parks, gyms, supermarkets, pubs, restaurants, transport hubs – can’t complain at all!” Verified owner at Mapleton Crescent

Ram Quarter is another option. This one’s right in the heart of the borough, neighbouring the peaceful River Wandle. Developed by the Greenland Group, it’s a purpose-built neighbourhood with shops, restaurants and hundreds of one to four-bedroom flats. Ram Quarter, carefully converted from the former Young’s Brewery, and lots of its original features have been retained.

The Coopers Lofts are where the history of the site can really be felt – period features like high ceilings, exposed iron and brickwork, and restored industrial style windows are a throwback to the brewery’s 19th-century origins. Outside, the buildings facades preserve the heritage of the buildings.” – HomeViews Property Pro on Ram Quarter

Moved into the development in summer 2018 as a new build. Lovely spacious apartment with all modern fixtures and fittings. Great location with the south side shopping centre a 2min walk and lovely pubs and restaurants in the area. Easy access into Waterloo from Wandsworth town- 13min with trains every 10mins. Energy efficient apartments mean low bills, I think I’ve only had the heating on once since moving in.” – Amy, verified renter at Ram Quarter, in Wandsworth

Wandsworth’s greenery

Despite its plentiful hustle and bustle, Wandsworth is a peaceful, green borough – the perfect antidote to busy city life. Wandsworth Common is the area’s heart, an 175-acre stretch of picnic space and nature trails. There’s a wildlife centre and a lake made for strolling, as well. You’ll find more of the same at King George’s Park, plus sports pitches and a tennis club.

Nappy Valley

Naturally, all that green space – together with some excellent schools and good-size Victorian houses – has seen an increase in the family population here. So much so, Wandsworth’s been nicknamed ‘Nappy Valley’. It’s the mixture of ages in Wandsworth that make it the diverse, harmonious community it is. To see the local spirit at its best, head for the Wandsworth Fringe in May – a celebration of dance, theatre and art talent.

M&S is a 6 min walk away and Waitrose is a 5 min walk. I prefer M&S because of the vibes. The tube is in close proximity as well as any bus neeeded. It’s quite and clean, almost makes you improve your lifestyle and start being more active. Battersea park is a 10 min walk! Really nice!!

Please review your development:

The building is very welcoming and warm with a sense of community and mutual respect. The staff are really making effort to make this place as comforting as possible. I really appreciate the effort they put in in organising events. Ofelia stands out to me because of how approachable she is is and how open she is to organising events that fits the Lark’s community.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

I would add more emphasis on the events that go on in the building as hat really creates the sense of community.

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

Any issues are quickly dealt with and everything is well organised and more importantly communicated to the residents.

Love the location. Maintainance is great. But, wish we had more amenities like a bigger gym or a pool or something for the price.

Please review your development:

The conference room could be smaller to have a bigger gym. Could be better value for money considering the amenities that other buildings in the neighbourhood have. Design is great. Management is very helpful and provides timely maintenance. App is good but could be more user friendly

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

The socials are a big selling point. Other things were shared

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

They’ve been timely and great. Like heat issue we’re resolved quickly

Please review your development:

I feel settled and at home. Management are very efficient and easy to contact. Everything it up to standard. So far I can say I am very happy with the service being provided and I am enjoying settling in to my new home. I can’t wait to actually get involved with the activities going on.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

There is nothing because I was told everything prior and so far everything has been up to expectation.

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

Almost immediately very fast and efficient easy to contact

The Lark is extremely well located – in terms of transport, it is a 5 minute walk from Battersea Power Station (Northern Line), 15 minute walk from both Vauxhall (Victoria Line) and Queenstown Road (SWR). There are several supermarkets near by – Sainsbury’s two minutes away, M&S at the BPS and Waitrose 5 minutes the other direction. Plenty of parking options, and being a little further from the main road, it is quiet, calm and very safe. Being so close to the river (2 mins) and 10 minutes from Battersea Park is a breath of fresh air and being so close to both Vauxhall and BPS, the dining, entertainment and pub options are quite endless, especially thanks to the interest in building the lifestyle elements of the area.

Please review your development:

The Lark as a development is one of the best in the area. The building itself has a co-working space, cinema room, community garden and gym, with a rubbish service and 24/7 Concierge. It is a really warm building and team – both in terms of design and making it feel like ‘home’, to the team who look after you. Really perfect for young professionals or families.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

A bit more explanation about the utilities and providers during the viewing would have been helpful to understand how the building is maintained from a water, electricity and gas perspective.

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

Very promptly and more than happy to go the extra step to ensure our queries are addressed. Krasen and Caroline, in particular, have made us feel so welcome and made the transition and move seamless. From onboarding us, to everyday help and suggestions to improve the development.
