Leicester

Leicester is an increasingly popular option for property hunters seeking homes in the Midlands. House prices were enjoying a boom prior to the uncertainties of 2020 and are expected to bounce back thanks to the city’s strong economy. Historically connected to the textiles industry, retailers like Next, Asos and New Look have major sites in the city. Firms like KPMG, HSBC and British Gas also have offices there. Walker’s Crisps is also based in Leicester, operating the world’s largest crisp factory!

Areas to consider

The centre of Leicester is undergoing significant redevelopment. Many new developments are providing high quality housing within easy reach of the amenities and transport options the centre provides.

The Wullcomb rental development by Way of Life was rated by residents as one of the top 3 BTR (Build to Rent) developments in the UK in 2020. This highly popular building took third place in the 2020 HomeViews BTR awards with an impressive overall score of 4.88 out of 5. However, new BTR developments are currently in construction in Leicester, and will seek to challenge The Wullcomb for its crown!

Outside central Leicester there are a number of very popular suburbs and commuter towns that attract large numbers of buyers and tenants. Syston is a commuter town 3 miles outside Leicester that offers suburban living with easy transport connections into the city and also to Nottingham, Lincoln and Loughborough.

Glenfield, Oadby and Braunstone are also very popular locations. These peripheral towns and villages offer excellent value, attractive properties and plenty of green spaces.

Reviews

History buffs like me will appreciate that cultural attractions are round the corner: Leicester Cathedral, the King Richard lll museum and the Jewry Wall.

The Wullcomb is unlike anything else in Leicester. Located in the heart of the city centre, local amenities from one of the largest shopping centres (Highcross Shopping Centre) in the midlands at your doorstep, to fine dining and essential public transport, there’s nothing which can rival this level of luxury and quality.

Great location with very nice atmosphere and amazing people. Made so many new friends thanks to the wonderful people who actually live here as well. There is a lot of very nice bars around as the property is located in the cultural quarters. And there are many shops near by.

City centre living with the wow factor

The location is great. Opposite John Lewis and the Highcross shopping centre. Just across the road are several restaurants, cafes , offering diverse cuisines and a cinema.
On site parking and a coffee shop downstairs are extremely convenient. Despite being on the main road, it is very quiet , hard to believe it when indoors. The proximity to the city centre is an advantage. There are 2 parks nearby and it’s close to the Guildhall, Cathedral and the historic heart of Leicester.
The bus station is within easy walking distance and the train station is less than a mile away, with regular, fast services to London.

Please review your development:

It’s a very attractive building with well appointed, luxury flats, which are spacious and fitted with high end appliances. Decorated with neutral colours and stylish extras.
There are many communal areas, with a modern , very stylish design and a super roof terrace with fabulous views over the Leicestershire countryside and a barbecue.
There’s a 24 hour concierge and the staff are extremely helpful, professional and friendly.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

I haven’t come across any problems yet. As I only moved in last week

The building is across the road from Leicester’s Highcross shopping mall. It’s a very convenient location. The area where the building is located I found to be quite safe.

Please review your development:

The apartment was exactly what me and my partner was looking for. The building is always cleaned by cleaning staff of the building. We really loved the communal area of the building which if on the 5th floor and which also has a rooftop garden area. The management staff and concierge were also nice to us and was always ready to help in anyway they can. I would really recommend this place if you are looking to stay in Leicester.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

Everything was exactly like I thought it would be and even better than I thought

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

Please review your development:

The Wullcomb is always very clean. I love the Christmas decorations. The team puts a huge afford in designing and making the place feel like a home.
I love how when you call Karl or you call the concierge they always answer the phone saying Hello Vasilena. I like the fact that is very personalized and the team gets to know you.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

I think the building should invest in air-condition units in the apartments as it gets too hot during the summer.

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

Once I asked Karl if he can cut the little bush outside the garage entrance and it was done immediately. Thank you Karl. Its one big family where The Wullcomb team is always there to help you. Its very secure. I know that if I go on holiday I will come back home and everything will be ok. I love the fact that when I order parcels I ways receive them..

Right next to city centre. Brilliantly located. Very little to no on street parking, you need a private parking space really. High density of student living if this bothers or interests you. Unfortunate increase in ASB and recreational drug use nearby but otherwise decent area.

Please review your development:

I lived for 2 years at Merlin Wharf. It’s a well managed property with great facilities. Riverside outdoor area, 24hr Reception with mailroom and private parking (+fee). Security are very friendly and recognise residents. Markell and team are GREAT and always helpful to the best of their capabilities. Sounds like an exaggeration, but it’s not.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

Be aware that the South facing flats get FULL SUN pretty much all day. It gets EXTREMELY hot in the Summer, but this is great in the Winter as I never once had to put the heating on!!!

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

Had big problems with neighbouring residents littering, management dealt with the issue and my persistent complaints swiftly and with as much resource they were able to. Really good team.
