I hate stains.

1. Furniture
I do not mind the “not so nice” furniture look, but maybe it could be a little bit more durable. I haven’t even been using sofa for more than 3 months (there are only two of us, and we spend most of our time doing something) but I can already feel it will not last long.

Under the oven there are wooden doors (not sure what that is to be exact) that keep falling off every time a train passes. Wood under the sink is loose and keeps popping out.

Washing machine is drying pretty badly. I do not think it dries at all, but at least it tries…I guess.

2. STAINS
There are huge stains on a coffee table – I assume someone has placed something hot and it burnt the wood, or maybe did not clean juice/water after it stained the table. I really, really do mind that. There are stains everywhere and no matter how hard I clean I cannot get rid of them. Honestly, that type of table is 60-100 euros and could have been replaced easily but I guess people think it is cool to have stained table.
Kitchen is white, cheap wood, and it is stained. I have tried everything to clean that – not possible – failed.

What I really, really disturbingly mind are stained walls. It looks so dirty and makes me want to scream. I really love things to be nice and clean and if I do get something stained I will do and try everything to clean that stain. But I am not sure what to do with these walls. The moment I walked in, I saw a huge white wall with dozen of stains that where covered with something white – but you can see it, so it looks like a child tried to paint something on the wall with markers. It pops out so much!

Living room – stains behind sofa. These are not covered with white markers, but are brownish.
Dinning room – yellowish stains and drips. It seems there used to be a big freaking clock or a mirror so there is a brown circle on the wall with couple of stains.

There are stains on the ceiling in the bathroom, and it seems like part of it is going to fall of.
Bathtub glass exploded 2 months after I moved in because it was badly made. Thankfully, nobody was in the tub but according to google if you are inside when it happen you will not die but will get many scars and stiches. I guess that is considered safe then…But, If you are living next to a rail, it is not smart to have glass installed in your bathtub.
It was fixed pretty soon, which was nice, but honestly I am sad it was replaced with the glass again. So, I am waiting for another explosion. For now, I am trying to be as fast as I can when in bathroom to avoid the glass explosion.

3. Screws in the walls?!
Also, there are screws in the walls. I hate it so much. I cannot believe it.
All of that could have been fixed with our one rent and yet it was not.
There is no reason to be this cheap, honestly. I mean, it is okay to be a little cheap, but not THIS cheap.

4. Odor
There is some sort of odor that I am still trying to get rid of. I am using essential oils and dry cleaning powders to get rid of it. I am wondering could that be the odor coming out of radiators because first floor neighbor is butchering something in their apartment. You never know. Partner keeps telling me it is the water from radiators because it wasn’t flushed before it was turned on. You decide.

5. Windows
Well, I am not sure how to clean windows since they cannot be opened fully. That is sad. There are so many broken things around blinds. It was that way when we moved in. I will try to fix because if I do not, nobody will.

That is it.

Please tell us what you like and dislike about this area:

I do love that it is a gated community.
Sadly people are not following rules when it come to recycling. It says FLATTENED carton only, but they are dropping non-flattened huge boxes, cups and stuff that cannot even be recycled in the container which takes so much space. That needs to be regulated. There are even pictures drawn to explain what you have to do. I really do mind this. Containers are always so full, they are screaming with tons of non-flattened boxes inside…

Inside the building’s hallway, first floor, there is a HUGE stain and then couple of small ones. Odor gets me every time. It smells on something rotten, most of the time. I am starting to think someone is doing something nasty in their apartment.

I do like the neighborhood. It is close to the train station (across the street) and Gardens, swimming pool, gym, and there is a lot of nature and animals. We even have foxes and I saw two in front of the building. So lovely! There are restaurants and one market with vegan options – which is a huge plus. There are always fresh veggies and fruits. Also, there are many vegan delivery food options. There are museums, parks and pubs, antique bookstore, gallery, beauty saloon (male and female), stadium – all within 10 minutes walk.

Some neighbors can be pretty loud and I think their kids are playing with the ball inside which is crazy, but I am not going to complain because it is not the kids’ fault. I do not want to be a bad neighbor.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

I wished I knew about stained walls.

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

Fast. When our bathtub glass exploded it was fixed immediately.

Excellent place to live with your pets

1. It is very hard to find a flat that really friendly to your pets. I have a dog and I take him down to the courtyard everyday. There’s a piece of gravelled terrace for dog to go to the toilet. And there are benches, lawn, bark chips flower bed (which is dog’s favourite), smoking areas, a nice courtyard and a friendly community with many four paws friends. If you live in the ground floor, there’s convenient door access to the courtyard, feels like your own home.

2. The facilities are well-equipped and brand new. There’s a gym, not very big but it’s enough for regular exercise( actually I haven’t use the gym since I got the dog ). Meanwhile, there’s a big public area for all kinds of activities such as holding a party or something, and I see some people studying at the quiet area. Anyway I personally seldom use the public area, but I quite enjoy the coffee machine. It is worth mentioning that the Forge gave every tenant a free coffee cup , before that, I always ask for disposable paper cups, which is not environmentally friendly.

3. Stuffs are friendly and easy to talk with, 24-hours reception, I could often get help when I need a hand.

4. The interior is modern and the furnitures are all brand-new, which is good, but I personally think the furnitures are too many for a room, some could be removed. But they do furnished room or unfurnished, no partial-furnished, which is a shame. Now we are considering to move into a bigger unfurnished room, gonna spend some extra money on our own furnitures.

Please tell us what you like and dislike about this area:

LIKE:
1 .Close to the riverside which is a good place to walk the dog.
2. Near the police station – trust me you will feel more safe.
3. Close to the train station which is convenient.
4. great river view from the south block.
5. there’s a parking building just the side of the road.

DISLIKE:
1. the nearest convenience store is in the train station, well, about ten minutes walk. And you need 20 mins to walk to the commercial centre. Many good restaurants and supermarkets there, well, not very far away, but it’s tiring when you buy bags of stuffs. and its too close to driving, just an awkward distance.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

The windows of 6th floor in North block and the 7th floor in west block actually only half height of other rooms. I didn’t aware of that. Personally viewing the flat is recommended.

Good On Paper, Cruel Reality

It’s one of these huge complexes of buildings that pop out here and there. The building is still under development and there’s noise as you could expect. It’s been falsely advertised as luxury accommodation but everything screams cheap. All machines: dishwasher, washing machine at the poorest quality, bathroom hazard with a big screen that fell on us several times in the beggining. Ongoing problem with heating and the water pressure. I found the door opened twice because the lock is flimsy and Liverpool is very windy and now that’s a new stress for us. Windows opposed to elevators! Total disappointment. The people in the reception are great and helpful but whoever designed and managed this atrocity should find a new employment. Cheap, dangerous, misleading. Not a single green factor at all, they tried to use every inch of the block and putting trees around wasn’t a priority. Elevator is so cheap is malfunctioning every day and Emirates and awful repeating sound during the night, the main door locks just because someone might be cooking and sets of the alarm! What on earth were they thinking? That’s a hazards, the door should stay wide open in case of alarm not the opposite!

Please tell us what you like and dislike about this area:

Noisy since you’re close to the city centre. Fridays and Saturdays it’s worse with intoxicated people going on with their business outside our property. Shops are close and that’s nice.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

Please avoid. People should think of building and promoting a home for people, human beings. This building is planned and designed to use every inch possible. Everything is cheap and flimsy and there’s no green area it’s a big ugly cube.

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

The management were excellent. Promptly responded to everything we requested. They apologized for things that actually weren’t their fault.

The building design is very modern and depicts it’s worth.

My apartment is Large and Spacious in terms of storage. Easy commute, to work as I work nearby in canary warfare.
Unfortunately the Furniture poor and I cannot change the interior design. I wish I was able to repaint my room to my desire.

I really like the Facilities like the gym and the movie room. The building design is very modern and depicts it’s worth. They also have a inbuilt sockets and facilities that allow easy to work from home.
However the Internet connection poor, and the gym tends to get very busy around 8 to 10pm which are my preferred timesupplier especially after work

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

I wish i knew i was unable to repaint or refurnish my apartment.
