Excellent place to live with your pets

1. It is very hard to find a flat that really friendly to your pets. I have a dog and I take him down to the courtyard everyday. There’s a piece of gravelled terrace for dog to go to the toilet. And there are benches, lawn, bark chips flower bed (which is dog’s favourite), smoking areas, a nice courtyard and a friendly community with many four paws friends. If you live in the ground floor, there’s convenient door access to the courtyard, feels like your own home.

2. The facilities are well-equipped and brand new. There’s a gym, not very big but it’s enough for regular exercise( actually I haven’t use the gym since I got the dog ). Meanwhile, there’s a big public area for all kinds of activities such as holding a party or something, and I see some people studying at the quiet area. Anyway I personally seldom use the public area, but I quite enjoy the coffee machine. It is worth mentioning that the Forge gave every tenant a free coffee cup , before that, I always ask for disposable paper cups, which is not environmentally friendly.

3. Stuffs are friendly and easy to talk with, 24-hours reception, I could often get help when I need a hand.

4. The interior is modern and the furnitures are all brand-new, which is good, but I personally think the furnitures are too many for a room, some could be removed. But they do furnished room or unfurnished, no partial-furnished, which is a shame. Now we are considering to move into a bigger unfurnished room, gonna spend some extra money on our own furnitures.

Please tell us what you like and dislike about this area:

LIKE:
1 .Close to the riverside which is a good place to walk the dog.
2. Near the police station – trust me you will feel more safe.
3. Close to the train station which is convenient.
4. great river view from the south block.
5. there’s a parking building just the side of the road.

DISLIKE:
1. the nearest convenience store is in the train station, well, about ten minutes walk. And you need 20 mins to walk to the commercial centre. Many good restaurants and supermarkets there, well, not very far away, but it’s tiring when you buy bags of stuffs. and its too close to driving, just an awkward distance.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

The windows of 6th floor in North block and the 7th floor in west block actually only half height of other rooms. I didn’t aware of that. Personally viewing the flat is recommended.

We have lived at The Forge for a little over 7 months and can’t speak highly enough about living here. The staff is wonderful and very helpful. The entire team have handled COVID well, as we felt extremely safe given the number of residents living here. Extremely grateful to how seriously they’ve taken COVID protocols and following government guidelines. They organized lockdown challenges to help residents feel connected and energized during lockdown – which I think is above and beyond what one would expect for any apartment block of its size.

We had the chance to use the common areas (lounge and gym) prior to lockdown and both are spot on. Gym is definitely well equipped for an apartment block gym.

Minor points (but it would not prevent me from recommending The Forge):
– As this building is electric only, the electricity bill can be high in the colder months if not careful.
– Most appliances and furnishings are nice, suitable and functional for the spaces. The washer/dryer all-in-one unit is convenient to have, but the cycles are not efficient (too long) and the dryer seems like a hazard, so we seldom use it.
– Parking options are somewhat limited and can be expensive depending on proximity to the building, but this was known. For safety purposes, we chose to park nearby at the structure across the street, which is expensive (£120/mo) – independent of The Forge. A lower rate would always be great!

Please tell us what you like and dislike about this area:

Conveniently located close to the Quayside and train station. It’s also very accessible to main motorways. The nearest grocery stores are at the train station, but there are multiple options for grocery and food delivery because of the location.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

Electricity costs, especially in the winter, as mentioned above would have been beneficial to be aware of prior to moving.

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

Any time we’ve raised a maintenance concern, the management team has been quick to respond.

Good experience overall

I am really enjoying living in the Forge – everything is new and modern, and the gym and lounge facilities are excellent. I also really enjoy the social activities that are organised for residents. It’s generally quiet at night too with no noisy neighbours. I also love the fact that pets are allowed.

My one criticism would be that overall, space is a bit short – in particular there is a lack of storage space (an inbuilt utility cupboard for hoovers/cleaning equipment etc would have been useful). Considering the small size of the apartments, the cost of renting is also quite steep. Overall however, I feel that the quality of the apartment and the facilities makes up for this.

Please tell us what you like and dislike about this area:

The Forge is approximately 6-7 minutes walk from Central Station which is really handy. It’s also just a minute’s walk from the Tyne, allowing for easy access to walks along the Quayside. Unfortunately there are no large supermarkets within walking distance which is a bit of a pain.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

There is no gas supply for the apartments at the Forge – the heating is run off electricity which is actually quite expensive.

Redefining City Living

Having relocated to Newcastle and moved into The Forge at its opening, I have witnessed the development of this incredible residential complex. What first appeared as a modern, well-designed building concept have emerged into somewhere I would regard as a beautiful home. The building offers stylish and spacious apartments with standard appliances that are the perfect place to relax after a busy day. The additional facilities (such as the gym and communal areas) are nothing short of exceptional and to have these close at hand is an added benefit. What’s more, the staff supporting the operation of the building are incredibly welcoming and make living at The Forge a truly enjoyable experience. While the cost of rent here is more on the premium side, for this standard of accommodation in such a prime location it is a price worth paying.

Close proximity to Newcastle Quayside, Central Train Station and place of work.

A beautiful place to live

Review Date Aug 2019

The aesthetics of The Forge are beautiful from walking through the main entrance, to getting into the lifts, walking along the corridors and finally the apartments themselves. The apartments could be slightly more functional, as they don’t have a great deal of storage and some (mine included) require walking through the bedroom to get to the bathroom which isn’t always practical. However, they are well proportioned and with a little creativity you can purchase storage solutions to keep the space tidy. The outside courtyard is attractive and a convenient place if you own a pet. The staff are extremely friendly and always happy to help with any queries or concerns. The location is walking distance from Eldon Square and bars and restaurants, as well as lovely walks along the river and easy access to transport links at Central station.

Please tell us what you like and dislike about this area:

As the building is directly in the city centre you are spoiled for choice. There are bars, restaurants, clubs, The Theatre Royal, Eldon Square for shopping and much much more. You are also five minutes from Central Station which provides, trains, metros and buses.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

The council tax is quite high due to the area. The council hadn’t arrived at a figure before we moved in, as the building was so new, and the amount ended up being higher than predicted once we had moved in. It probably wouldn’t have stopped us moving to The Forge had we known the amount before but it is something to bear in mind.

Best place I’ve ever lived

The Forge is an amazing place to live, the apartments are an ideal size, the building itself had all the facilities you could ever want and more, the location couldn’t be better – a few steps from the Newcastle Quayside, 5 minutes walk to Central Station, and all the shops, restaurants and bars of the city centre (many of which offer exclusive discounts to Forge residents). However, being slightly off the main road and just past the police station, the Forge always feels perfectly safe and is very quiet, given its central location.

The 24/7 staff are always friendly and helpful, and the frequent events are brilliant for getting to know other residents and have fun in the amazing lounge area.

The Forge is by far the best place I have ever rented and I could not recommend it more highly.

The location is perfect, right next to the Quayside and train station, with all shops, restaurants and bars within short walking distance.

The Forge is a great place to live. The development itself has been sculpted to create the perfect lifestyle for residents. The gym and open plan kitchen areas within each flat promote a healthy lifestyle, whilst the resident’s lounge allows for social way to connect with fellow residents. With each flat possessing stunning interior design, The Forge feels like luxury with a reasonable price-tag.

The building captures elements of modernism and helps to maximise basic needs (daylight etc).
The building is ran superbly well and is always spotless.
As previously mentioned, more green areas would be hugely beneficial to the site from a sustainability side of things and for the nature of the residents. There’s a distinct lack of outdoor space to relax/socialise in.
On the whole though, a superb place to live and I’m never leaving.

Please tell us what you like and dislike about this area:

Love the proximity to the quayside and the town centre.
Parking is often an issue.
More garden space/greenery on site would’ve been a bonus with living in the town centre.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

Storage can be difficult but the amount of amenities on site can help with the situation (bike storage, etc). When viewing the property you don’t realise how much the staff can provide for you.

What is the best feature of your home:

The building is constantly staffed.

Whether it be parcels or repairs, there is always the appropriate personnel to deal with the situation. It ensures comfortable living and reduces stress surrounding little inconveniences.

Amazingly Modern

The overall building is beautiful, it’s extremely modern and super homely. All furniture in the building comes beautifully designed, along with the furniture inside the flat itself. The building management team are always so incredibly helpful and welcoming, they really make you feel at home and always strive to solve any issues you may have. The downstairs gym is a great asset and provides no excuse to not work out – which is great! Beautiful building, amazing management and overall a place you wouldn’t want to leave!

Please tell us what you like and dislike about this area:

The local area is lovely and for the most part peaceful, theres a Sainsbury’s opposite the building, and we’re just a short walk away from Booths supermarket and pubs and restaurants

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

The only thing I wish I was advised about is the bill providers, as we had a few issues with Ecotricity at the beginning.

What is the best feature of your home:

The best feature of my home is the flat itself, it’s super modern and just so homely. Everything was new and clean upon arrival and is everything I expected and more!

The forge offers a range of facilities from gym to communal areas that are always clean and tidy, offering great space to socialise.

From the stylish apartments with standard appliances that create the perfect place to relax.

The staff from the GM and the RSA’s are all very welcoming and helpful.

Great place to move into especially if your relocating to Newcastle.
Its ideally located to the city centre and quayside where you will find all the restaurants and bars!

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

Watch the heating in winter!

If there is one thing you would change about your flat or property what would it be:

With the furnishings being modern and up to date would say a nicer more comfier sofa would be ideal
Especially when entertaining.
