How do larger BTR communities perform vs. smaller schemes?

This is an excerpt from the extended 2023 HomeViews Build to Rent Report, coming in May and available only to HomeViews Pro subscribers and Partners. These findings demonstrate the types of analysis possible with the new HomeViews Pro dashboard, which combines Units, Pricing, Facilities and Location data with our resident ratings and reviews. Here we see how ratings for larger Build to Rent (BTR) schemes compare with smaller, boutique communities. The results may surprise you…

Filtering our data in HomeViews Pro

For this assessment we set the Units limit at 299 for ‘Small’ developments, with ‘Large’ schemes being defined as those with 300+ units. We set the time period to the 2023 BTR Report sample period (Nov 16th 2021 – Nov 16th 2022), and Location was set as UK-wide.

This shows all HomeViews review categories for the selected data period and sample, including ratings not seen on our site, such as those for Customer Service, Repairs & Maintenance and Additional Services.

Large vs. Small BTR schemes

As you can see, Large BTR schemes were higher-rated than Small developments across all review categories for this time period. The greatest difference between the two size groups can be seen in the Repairs & Maintenance category.

Why the difference in ratings?
