A beautiful place to live

Duet is a beautiful, modern building that is both aesthetically pleasing and really homely. There is plenty of space across the building to relax/meet with friends outside of your apartment. The facilities are brilliant and are all well worth the money. Surprise treats every so often really make the building feel homely. The staff are always on hand to help you out with anything and always have a cherry disposition.

Please tell us what you like and dislike about this area:

Duet is directly opposite both a tram & bus stop with great links to Manchester/other areas. It is a short walk to Media City which has a brilliant range of bars and restaurants. It is a great area to go for walks in. The area always feels safe and is perfectly quiet during the day and and night.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

The staff really are brilliant and such a warm presence in the building, the communication is super simple when you have any sort of issue.

What is the best feature of your home:

The huge amounts of space/facilities available across the building for all needs

The building had a rooftop terrace, which is great to go to the top of when you need to relax

The building had a rooftop terrace, which is great to go to the top of when you need to relax or just have a chilled out evening. There is coffee machine near the reception and top floor which you can get as much coffee as you want. The layout of the apartments are nice, with a jack and Jill style bathroom and ensuite style in a 2 bedroom. It also includes open space living with a kitchen and living room and a small balcony which is perfect.

The windows are large, to allow lots of natural light in and all the rooms have Ethernet ports with high speed broadband Internet!

The management are great, and there is an app that you can use to submit any requests, I already had to submit one for one of the faulty Ethernet ports and it was fixed with an electrician within 3 days.

There’s is an on site 24/7 concierge so that if you are having having issues you can directly go to them, and any issues can be reported easily.

The apartments are also pet friendly, which is sometimes hard to find!

Please tell us what you like and dislike about this area:

First of all, there’s a local co-op at the ground of the building, so it’s easy to get essentials when you’ve ran out. If you do need to go shopping or for places to eat there is a main tram stop 2 minutes away which connects to the majority of all of manchesters tram lines so you can get the direct tram you need from there

It can get quite busy outside, however noise is at a minimum and isn’t distracting if you have windows closed.

Bin collection is done well, however more bins are probably needed as it sometimes can overflow in the rubbish collection and then you have the try to make more room.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

You may need to walk or get the tram to go to any big supermarket chains or restaurants, which is fine since it’ll only take you a few minutes to get the tram.

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

We moved in and were unsure about the heating, we thought it was faulty so we submitted a request to just ask for advice and got a response an hour later with a video on how to use it, which solved the issue!

Another one was with out Ethernet in one of the rooms, the port was not working so we put a request in to get it looked into, and around 3 days layer an electrician came around and was able to fix the issues.

Excellent home with excellent facilities

We moved in in June 2021 and have really enjoyed our stay so far. A highlight for us is the gym which definitely removes the need to pay monthly for a gym pass and also the roof terrace. The views over the city are great and on a sunny day it gets a great level of sun. The lounge area is also a great space for the regular events that are put on and socialising with other vox members. We’ve also booked the studio to follow along with gym classes using the TV within there. We also enjoy not having to worry about the security of parcels when they arrive here as they are stored within a locker room which requires a key card and also login details to access.

We have a corner flat with a balcony overlooking the cornbrook tram stop and enjoyed watching the sunset in the evenings over the summer. The tram and trainline can be quite noisy at times with the freight trains that pass fairly regularly so something to bare in mind if you enjoy sleeping with the windows open! But that would be the only bad thing I would have to say about this place.

The flat is nice and spacious with plenty of light which has made working from home much more enjoyable than in our previous flat and was one of the reasons we moved here. We also have the additional option of working in the lounge upstairs. It’s also nice and easy to fit in a gym session at some point during the work day to de-stress or get a change of scene for a bit. The bedrooms are a good size and so are the bathrooms. The kitchen contains a dishwasher and the washing machine is stored within the cupboard along with the boiler which is great and means you can have the washing on and still be expected to hear your tv!

Lastly, people living here are pleasant and of a variety of age ranges and the management team are equally pleasant and helpful. It is nice always having staff around 24/07 as it makes the building feel safer and when things go wrong help is always on hand.

Please tell us what you like and dislike about this area:

The good aspects are being so close to one the central tram stops. This gives easy access to town or out of town with tram approx every 5 mins. It’s also great having a Co-op within the building and also being a 15 minute walk to the sainsbury’s super market.
If you are not prepared to pay the ÂŁ150 for parking, parking is limited to on street which can make it difficult for visitors when they come stay. The immediate area feels safe and the walk to the tram stop is also short and well lit.
There are a few nice bars nearby which do drinks and food, some takeaways opposite the building and we are also a short walk to castlefield along the canal which has lots of good bars and restaurants.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

Again as mentioned, the trains and trams are noisy but something we have gotten used to. Apart from that, have enjoyed everything else!

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

Always respond promptly and resolves any issues within the same day unless parts need to be ordered or a contractor is required. Again, this is only a matter of days.

Best of the both worlds, close to town but pretty quiet with respectable neighbours

Like: waterfront location, mostly quiet neighbours (mix of families, students, young people, retirees), outdoor communal areas, the view, not in the thick of town but close enough to walk. Secure parking. 24/7 reception access and security is very reassuring. City centre circular bus stop is outside (not as frequent as it used to be!). Flats are modern and minimal, nicely laid out. Gym is small. Hall and lobby is cleaned frequently, long-term cleaning staff are brilliant and friendly.

Dislike: too many neighbours have pets that don’t belong in flats and that moult/defecate/smell, management can be aloof and all talk no action when it comes to repairs, old office windows are ugly, quality of tenants has dipped a little (more domestic students than there used to be). Rent is a little too high given some of these downsides. None of that would stop me recommending this as a place to live though except for: the new management are obsessed with technology. An app for repairs, an app for the water company, an app for your parcels, online yoga nonsense…it’s alienating for the older tenants. Collecting parcels is more complex than it needs to be. No shops right on the doorstep too so that’s something to consider. Also disabled access is abysmal (getting in the front door and navigating the corridors, lifts serve all floors). They also need to shut the main gates to stop kids getting in.

Overall: pros definitely outweigh the cons but I would say that the management need to do more to attract respectable tenants. We miss the mix of international students from the Gulf, local pensioners, young couples, and families with kids that there used to be!

Please tell us what you like and dislike about this area:

Like: waterfront area, not in the thick of town but everywhere is walkable (if you don’t mind a 15/20 minute walk into the centre), lovely weather in the summer, nice area to walk around the docks, not too far from the local Tesco express and Spar (10 minutes each way). Easy to get an Uber. Secure parking.

WARNING: they use a district heating water company not United utilities – bills are VERY high. They switched companies recently and the new one is even worse as everything is done digitally and they don’t even offer Direct Debit!!!!!!!

Dislike: tourists, non-locals clogging up Kings Parade oblivious to the fact that some people have places to go. Very harsh weather in winter. If you’re old or don’t driver or disabled consider: bus doesn’t run as frequently as it used to, can be a bit lonely after dark.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

Windows barely open. Water company is a rip off.

If there is one thing you would change about your flat or property what would it be:

(1) ugly windows (2) need a residents association (3) ban big dogs

The place to be in Manchester

It’s a beautiful well lit building, one of the things that was important to me coming out of the city centre was headspace and from the B block you can clearly see the canal, greenery, Old Trafford, the Airport and some parts of Salford Quays. The decor is very current and maintains a level of boujee with affordable costs. Each time there has been a nick within our apartment the contractors have been out the same week to fix this. If I could have one thing it would be a swimming pool to really give the hotel/holiday feeling whilst living here (but that’s me being really really picky). Co-working space/coffee machines are a bonus and it allows a sense of working at home without actually being stuck at home and finally property management – well where to I begin with that bunch, they simply are incredible. Nothing is ever to much, always in positive and uplifting spirits and understand matters from a human/first hand degree.

Please tell us what you like and dislike about this area:

I believe the area is a proper upcoming area which has the capability to have some great amenities within walking distance which will come in time – I think the only thing it lacks is restaurant/bars within walking distance. Coming from the city centre this was ideal if you couldn’t be bothered to cook but didn’t want to be confined to your usual 4 walls. Transport is incredible as we are right on the tram stop and it is ideal to have a Co-Op attached to the building meaning you can nip down in your PJ’s and still not see anyone.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

Although nothing has started as of yet there could be buildings going up on both sides of The Vox.

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

Yes so we have noticed a few cracks in the door frames and grouting starting to come away in the shower room, was dealt with and fixed the same week.
