Duet is an exceptional rental experience.

Review Date May 2021

The entire experience at Duet has been beyond exceptional. I’ve both owned and rented and I can safely say that neither experience matches what you get at Duet. The team makes it feel more like a 5-star hotel than a rental property.

If you had told me I would fall in love with a rental experience before coming here, I wouldn’t have believed you, and yet here we are.

I will go through the experience in chronological order for completeness.

Before I arrived I was in Europe so I didn’t get a chance to see the property in person. That didn’t matter very much because they offered Matterport virtual tours of the apartments and also video tours that give you are real sense of the property.

As an Australian without a rental history in the UK, I wasn’t sure how hard it would be to get a property. But the application was pretty straightforward. The team was communicative at each step.

On arrival, José let our rental car in and out of the car park multiple times and helped get us settled. This was just the first taste of how much the reception staff go above and beyond.

When we arrived there were still Covid protocols in place, so all the packages (Amazon, etc) were being hand delivered by the staff to the apartment doors. Despite the annoyance of running around the building delivering packages they always did it with a smile (it has now returned to using the parcel lockers in the Lobby).

Duet advertises itself as a pet-friendly building. We decided to get a beautiful Cocker Spaniel puppy (Miles), it’s been on the wishlist for a long time. I kept waiting for the other shoe to drop with the puppy. Surely it was just a checkbox that they wanted to tick. But no, they really love the pets. Miles has been welcomed by not just the staff but also by the other residents.

The staff organize events, Friday night drinks, etc — another thing about Duet that’s outstanding. I’ve become friends with a bunch of the other tenants in the building. It’s really pleasant to interact with the other tenants. It surpasses my expectations in terms of community. There is a building forum, and it’s quite common for people to give items away when they no longer need them.

The apartment itself is very nice. It’s comfortable and well designed. One of the few negatives I can think of with this apartment is that there was really no option to only furnish one bedroom (we use the second bedroom as an office).

The apartment doesn’t have a balcony, and that would have been nice to have, but I understand that that would have come with tradeoffs as well (lower floorspace).

Oh, and how could I forget. The internet is blinding fast. I don’t think I’ve ever had faster internet in residential property (and I’m not even on the top tier).

The staff have continued to be amazing, not just the front-of-house, but the managers, cleaners and temps all seem to have an attitude of service, that feels closer to Hotel than a rental property.

I cannot recommend this building and team highly enough and will be sad when we eventually have to leave (we’re not permanent residents of the UK).

Please tell us what you like and dislike about this area:

Salford Quays is a nice area. It has good public transport links to the city (the Metrolink tram stop is just across the road. MediaCityUK has a good selection of bars and restaurants. There is a Sainbury’s Local 2-3 minutes walk away for basic grocery needs, and larger supermarkets 25 mins walk away.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

Because we didn’t visit before moving in (we were in another country), it was difficult to get a sense of the layout of the building and position in the broader neighbourhood (the property itself has excellent tours). In hindsight, I probably would have picked a higher floor (we’re on 6 of 15).

This is a minor thing though, and an anomaly, because I’ve watched them give tours to other people looking at the building.

If there is one thing you would change about your flat or property what would it be:

More options in the setup of the furnished apartments. We didn’t really need the second bed, and having a bed/office option would have been awesome.

I love where I live

I love Duet so much. I remember when I use to pass in on the bus I used to think how beautiful it was and that I’d love to live here – now I am. It’s architecture, design and furniture is all absolutely beautiful. Downstairs there’s a wonderful lounge where residents can sit, work, chat, get a drink from the free hot drinks machine (delicious syrups are also provided). There’s also a meeting room with a large table, chairs, plug sockets, and a flat screen wall mounted smart tv- if you need somewhere more private to work or relax. Also downstairs there’s a gym (perfect for having fun exercising and staying healthy), a bin room, a postal area (where you’ll receive your post) a parcel area (where you’ll receive your bigger post) and a toilet. On the next floor there is the fantastic Duet garden terrace – it’s so beautiful you won’t believe your eyes. Loungers, tables and chairs, beautiful views and much more. Also if you look up at the sky there at night – you might catch some bats. On the rest of the floors 1-15 are the amazing apartments. I stay in a one bedroom apartment and from the moment I walked in it I was wowed. It. Is. Amazing. With beautiful furniture, beautiful views – what more could you want. What else makes somewhere perfect – amazing staff of course. And Duet has that. To name a few there is – Jose, Frankie, Bex, Stephen, Tyler, Ricado etc. They are all so kind and welcoming and will always be up for a chat. Come to Duet – you won’t regret it.

Please tell us what you like and dislike about this area:

I love living here – Salford Quays and Media City is such a beautiful place. I love taking photos and videos and this area is perfect for it – it’s just so aesthetic. It’s a lovely area to walk around. With the beautiful modern city style and vibe along with the docks water – it’s like living in the city and at the seaside at the same time. There’s lovely wildlife round here too – swans, seagulls, geese and more. And theres a beautiful “the city never sleeps vibe here” because when you go for a night walk you’ll still be surrounded by bright lights, people walking around, bars open etc – it’s amazing. There’s so many nice restaurants, cafes, shops and bars to go to round here – so much choice! There’s places at Media City, at the Quayside mall (which is also home to a Vue cinema with reclining seats), round near the waterspouts centre etc. Talking of the watersports centre – it’s so cool having that too. Indoor climbing, wake boarding, sailing etc – so much you can do. Also there’s several hotels round here too – which are great for when family/friends want to come up and stay. Media City is also home to BBC and ITV. Imagine having those just a walk away – so awesome. Even Coronation Street is filmed here. And the beautiful Lowry theatre is also just a walk away too – how amazing. And there’s a tram right outside Duet that takes you into Manchester where you can find even more beautiful aesthetic places, places to shop, places to eat and drink, theatres, cinemas etc. Salford and Manchester is a truly beautiful place to live.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

I wish I’d known about how amazing Duet is sooner because then I would have moved earlier on.

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

I’ve sometimes had problems in my apartment such as water leaks/water temperature problems and the staff are always there to help right away. I can always rely on them.

Easily the best new residential development in Media City & The Quays

Verified Resident
Verified Resident
Review Date Sep 2020

I’ve lived in various new developments and property types in different locations – Duet is by far my favourite hands down. The design layout flows, it’s easy to live here, the facilities are excellent & staff outstanding, it’s a pleasure to live here. The focus on the social aspect and experience is a great addition to living here – the building itself absolutely immaculate and the management team couldn’t be more accommodating and approachable. There are so many positives, from the high end gym equipment, outdoor garden, fingerprint parcel lockers, and organised social events – that I honestly couldn’t think of a more ideal development to live in. After visiting every residential development in Media City and The Quays, Duet is easily a step above the others. I couldn’t recommend Duet any higher!

Please tell us what you like and dislike about this area:

I moved to the Quays and Media City specifically for the local amenities, ease of transport and abundance of restaurants and bars in the most ‘up-and-coming’ development in Manchester – a water sports centre, gym, shopping complex, supermarkets, every thing you would need all within walking distance!

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

The viewing was absolutely comprehensive and I was shown all the amenities of the building and it’s functions. I would recommend to anyone who considering living at Duet to also check out the discounts they also offer at the local retailers and eateries as they were an added bonus to find out about too!

What is the best feature of your home:

My actual apartment has superb views not only of Salford Quays and Eerie Basin, but also across the city and beyond. The finishings are high end and from the marble tables and worktop to the couch and rugs, everything is of excellent quality

Comfortable apartments in an excellent location

Review Date Aug 2020

Duet is a stylish and comfortable building with an eye catching lobby complete with areas for home working, holding meetings, or just simply sitting and enjoying a fabulous coffee from a machine offering an array of caffeinated and hot chocolaty delights.

We opted for a furnished apartment. It makes me very happy when I get home from work and see our large green L shaped velvet sofa and know I can flop on to it and relax in both syle and comfort.

The kitchen has everything you’ll need; washer/dryer, oven, hob, fridge/freezer and lots of work top and cupboard space. There is plenty of space for storage under the luxurious king size bed.

There’s a gym downstairs with all the basics you’d want from that kind of space – weights, treadmills, exercise bikes etc. Speaking of bikes, there is loads of bike storage in the car park. Cycles are safe and dry there.

Our favorite communal part of the building though is the terrace on the mezzanine level. It looks out over Erie Basin and on a hot day it’s the perfect spot to sit and read a book. Sublime.

Please tell us what you like and dislike about this area:

One of the main attractions of Duet for us was its location. It’s close to Media City UK, right by Erie Quay, and it has excellent transport links as the Harbor City tram stop is right outside the front door.

From that tram stop it’s easy to get to Manchester Piccadilly station, the airport and even Eccles – from Duet the world really is your oyster!

That said, you don’t need to leave Salford Quays. The area has shops, cafes, stylish bars and restaurants, a water sports centre, The Lowry theatre, and a cinema with huge comfortable seats. It’s a lovely spot for a Sunday morning walk too.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

We went with Ecotricity – the electricity supplier recommended by the building management. We didn’t realise how expensive this company was and, combined with a lack of understanding about how the apartment’s heating system worked, ended up with a large bill.

What is the best feature of your home:

It feels really safe. The staff are onsite 24/7 and if there’s no one at the reception desk there is a number we can call if we need assistance.

Amazing place to live

Review Date Dec 2020

The lobby is vey impressive and well designed with lots of seating for relaxing and working from home. There is a free coffee machine in the lobby and residents are provided with a free cup on arrival (along with other little gifts). There is well stocked gym on the ground floor and with personal trainer and classes available. On the mezzanine level, there is a raised garden with fabulous furniture and view over the water. Also on the mezzanine there is further indoor seating and a small library and painting gallery. Lifts are available from all floors. Everything is kept well maintained and functioning. The staff are extremely friendly and welcoming from the moment you meet them. They give you a warm and genuinely friendly greeting every time you pass them.
There is a great community feel – there is an app where residents and chat and help each other and the staff provide events such as gin tasting.
There is range of apartments styles available both in size and in style. I loved my room from the moment I saw it. It is a fabulous view over the water, quality furniture and appliances and a very comfortable king sized bed. Duet is a perfect place to live and you will feel happy here.
I’ve always felt safe here.

Please tell us what you like and dislike about this area:

Just over the road is the tram stop and bus top and 10 minutes walk down the road is media city and quayside mall – holding many shops restaurants, shops and a cinema. There is a Sainsbury’s local, just a few minutes away and Booths just 10 minutes walk. The location is a waterside location, being by the docks of the quays. There is also a water spots centre nearby – where you can do open water swimming and wakeboarding and more. The BBC and ITV is nearby, including the coronation street studio. The area is safe and well maintained.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

I wish I had known how good Duet is before, otherwise I would have lived here last year other than the accommodation I was in.

Duet – great welcome, great waterside living.

Review Date Sep 2020

I recently moved to Salford/Manchester & could not have been made to feel more welcome by the team at Duet. They have done everything they can to make me feel at home straight away. The flat itself is beautiful with views out over the quay – having a view over water is something really special.

I also like that they are working hard to develop a sense of community.

Having full recycling facilities on site is great – love that, including food waste,

Parcel lockers brilliant – no more missing those eagerly anticipated purchases. 24 hour concierge brilliant.

Not yet used social space available for booking given the lockdown but think it is great. Gym and outdoor space really nice.

Please tell us what you like and dislike about this area:

Such a great location – easy for small supermarket (less than 2 mins walk) yet larger stores just 10 mins away. Down on the quays lots to choose from in terms of eating/drinking and only a tram ride into Manchester city centre for a truly cosmopolitan experience. If you happen to love open water swimming then this is the place too – even if just to watch (like I do).Lovely that Duet offer discounts at some local shops and facilities – all helps develop and support some local and independent business. Feel so at home – thanks.

Easy to travel almost straight onto major road networks with access all areas.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

I wish I’d known that the windows open – just because I made an assumption that they would not….like in a hotel. I didn’t come for a viewing given mid lockdown. Also – positively wish I’d known quite how much storage space the beds and shelves in bedroom take – it’s loads and makes a fantastic difference. I’d want slightly more hanging space personally (so I bought a free standing one)

If there is one thing you would change about your flat or property what would it be:

I’d have slightly different white goods in kitchen – perhaps slightly better spec – including the cupboards themselves. The design (and quality) of kitchen cupboards doesn’t make the most of a small space. Wall cupboards could be to the ceiling for example.

Beautiful apartments, beautiful location, beautiful staff – I love living here!

Review Date Sep 2021

I love living here. The building is so beautiful – the interior is 100% my taste and is always kept immaculate. It’s an incredibly accessible building for me as a wheelchair user, with 3 lifts, ramps from the car park, and the buzzer to the car park able to be done through my windscreen. The staff on reception are incredibly friendly, nothing is ever too much trouble and I love to come home here. I also really appreciate that my mail/parcels are always kept safe and made easily accessible to me – including being brought up to my flat if bigger and needed. The only thing I would consider if moving here for the first time now, is to get an apartment on the end instead of in the middle. I have floor length windows but my apartment faces apartments opposite and it can be quite dark inside as the sun doesn’t directly come into the whole apartment – I always need lights on. However, the apartments on the end have windows right across the sides and I could imagine are brighter.
Having said this, it does not make me regret living here and I will stay here for as long as I can. It really is a beautiful place to live.

Please tell us what you like and dislike about this area:

It’s super handy to have a small Sainsbury’s just across the road and the full Sainsbury’s 5 minutes drive away. There’s restaurants at the end of The Quays by The Lowry and the shopping mall there too. I really love living in this area and it has everything I need – not to mention the beautiful water front walks. As a wheelchair user, I also appreciate how accessible the area is – the restaurants, the shops, The Lowry, and around The Quays itself.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

I wish I had considered how much light my apartment gets more and chosen one on the end with more windows. I love natural lighting and that is something that I don’t get apart from literally next to my windows because of the angle of the apartment.

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

Any issues are responded to instantly – you can report them through the app. Response time from the staff is very fast and engineers are booked out as fast as possible. I have had one minor issue only and it was resolved asap. Couldn’t be happier.

Very cool apartment, stylish and modern, new and great views. Great social area and small but nearly all you wish for gym. The team is awesome they put in so much love and care for people, it’s not just work for them, but they overachieve in every way to take care and fulfil residents’ wishes. Also it’s pet friendly apartments. They organise lots of social events and get togethers so you’re never on your own if you ever feel lonely,
The only disadvantages are the electrical appliances in the apartments. Cheap electric panel heaters that are very expensive to run, also they don’t seem to work properly. should definitely have gone for better heating systems that are cheaper to run, other appliances are also rather the budget version of fridge, washing machine etc. which is a pity for what you pay and how good the overall building looks and how much care the team takes of the residents.

Please tell us what you like and dislike about this area:

metro 3mins away from the building, bus stop and Sainsbury’s express in 2 mins and supermarkets within 15-20 mins, lots of restaurants in the area

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

How easy things were to deal with because I didn’t expect it to be that easy.but also how expensive and not so well working the heating is, because that adds extra cost on that is more than what I expected

If there is one thing you would change about your flat or property what would it be:

Electric appliances – buy better electric appliances, ones that are cheaper to run and really do the heating job

Stylish building with friendly staff

Review Date Sep 2020

From my short time living at duet, it seems to be a really friendly building with helpful, smiley staff on the desk.

I love the coffee machine in the residents lounge and having free access to the gym and meeting room.

The view from our view on the 1st floor overlooking Erie Basin is spectacular.

The overall design of our apartment is excellent but I do wish there was more storage available as I had to buy two sets of draws for my room despite it being furnished. Would be great for minimalists.

Great system for collecting parcels!

Please tell us what you like and dislike about this area:

Stylish design. Really friendly concierge staff. Great coffee machine in the lounge. Gym is free for residents.

Social events have sadly stopped since covid. The meeting room can’t be booked in the evenings anymore. Hoping this will change back soon.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

I wish I had known I would need to buy more storage for my bedroom.

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

Genuinely great development. Having moved from a house to apartment I was slightly apprehensive as to what to expect. I needn’t have worried. From the initial contact with Bex & Ste, the service has been in a different league to what apartment living was like a few years ago. From reaching out to enquire to moving in, the process was done in an extremely quick timeframe. The decor in reception is modern and inviting with a free coffee machine. Frankie and the front desk team are absolutely great, always friendly, they take all your parcels in without hassle and email you that you have something to collect. Ricky and the night shift team are just as great and you feel completely safe at all times. We have a 1 year old dog who isn’t used to apartments but has settled in amazingly, particularly due to how quiet the building and surrounding area is. Would recommend the development in an instant. Also great if you’re new to the city and looking to make friends as the team arrange a social night once a week. 10/10.

Please tell us what you like and dislike about this area:

There is nothing negative you could say about living at Duet. Easy tram access into the city as well as all the local amenities such as The Alchemist & Pret so you don’t need to leave the local area. We have a dog who loves it round the area too as little traffic and can walk around the Quays with ease.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

How social and friendly the building tenants are.

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

No issuers raised but the process seems easy enough through the app.
