Nice area , good design need better after care

The house designs are great , good usable space in the designs and good plot sizes for a new build, also unique features for the house types.

Snags and getting them resolved is not easy , and there is plenty of them.

Currently doesn’t seem much care in the development looks , I manage my own verge as harron don’t bother, hopefully when they have completed which should be soon they will sort it all out.

As you decorate the house to your own taste you do find quite a few “bodged” jobs. The door jamming and locking my children in was a particularly high point.

Very good area , lots of beautiful walks , nice little village

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

Make sure you get everything in writing especially snags picked up on the home demo

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

They did respond to my husband some time and we did have snags sorted but they do take a lot of chasing and towards the end completely ignore , some has been done to covid but still

If I knew then what I know now I wouldn’t of bought a harron home

Since moving in two years ago the customer service/management has been appalling. Absolutely no communication or continuity. Continuous turn over of staff including around 8 different site managers in our time. Fortunately we are now dealing with Chris at head office who has been a breath of fresh air and does everything possible to help us. Unfortunately though Chris can only do so much and he too is having to continually chase his own orders to the site team as they do not seem to carry out what is asked of them in a reasonable time frame. One example of this would be them removing some stones from round the side of our house to sort the patio out we have now been waiting for the stones to be replaced since September 2020 after mutiple asks from Chris for them to do this. This is a minor problem but I think it highlights the level of incompetence to complete snags large or small. Given our time again if we had known what we know now we would NOT have bought here.

Local amenities are good. Shops, restaurants etc. A few cases of the police coming to estate. It could also do with a bus stop placing closer to the estate to take you into Selby as its a bit of a walk

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

Not to buy one

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

Only Chris has truly ‘listened’ and more importantly ‘wanted’ to help and continues to do so. The rest of it from sales office workers, to aftercare, site managers is a shower of s*** to put it midly.

the houses are well spaced apart and this does give you a feel of luxury.

The design of the development is very well thought-out, the houses are well spaced apart and this does give you a feel of luxury.

Due to the infancy of the development we have not really seen the grounds management other than the mowing of some grass at the front of the development. They do not collect the grass that they cut, they just leave it which I do feel lets the estate down. They should collect the grass since the residents pay for the service.

Please tell us what you like and dislike about this area:

The development is located on the edge of Selby but it is only a 10-15 minute walk into the town centre. Due to the development being close to Selby town it means restaurants and pubs are close enough to walk to, especially on a nice warm day.

The development is set back from the main road, this does mean that most traffic cannot be heard on the street we live on.
The development also have fields to 3 sides of it which really does make you feel that you are in the countryside, I have even seen owls and deer close to the development.

The only concern I have is that the development entrance is around 100m from the start and end of a national speed limit road, this is meaning that vehicles do not slow down to the 30mph speed limit when passing the development, I do feel further traffic calming measures do need to be taken to make the main road safe, especially at night.

Luckily most people park on their driveways or in the allocated parking spots meaning that (at the moment) the streets aren’t littered with parked cars.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

My best piece of advice is to ensure major issues (which would bother you to live with) are fixed before you move in. The builder will tell you that they will do these things after you move in but I can honestly say that you are their number 1 priority until they receive your money. You will be waiting a long time! Save your holidays because you will use them resolving issues. Ask existing residents for their opinion.

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

The sorting of snags with Harron Homes is terrible and very stressful, if you read the negative reviews on trust pilot, these are all accurate.

Nice location. Houses not up to standards.

When we purchased our property for the price we paid we were expecting much better standards.
Within weeks of moving in we noticed how shoddy the workmanship was, with an overhead cooker being placed too low so you bang your head every time you are cooking, door handles falling off, missing dishwasher, tiles also missing in our kitchen just to name a few.
The attention to detail just isn’t there.
Harron homes are only interested in building the houses as quickly as possible and selling as many as they can, their customer care is appalling.

Please tell us what you like and dislike about this area:

Crich is a small village but it does have everything that you need, including a small corner shop, a hairdressers and a play park. The location isn’t a problem.
We have a double drive so parking is never usually an issue apart from the odd couple of occasions where builders have parked over our driveway!
Bin collections can be hit and miss, especially over bank holidays.
There can be noise coming from the street including dogs barking into the middle of the night.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

Harron Homes advertise as a “luxury house builder” when this isn’t the case.
We wish that we had done more research before purchasing.

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

Slow and hard going.
It was a real battle to get people to listen to us and even once we finally got the chance to express our dissatisfaction, it took a long time for someone to remedy the problem.
