Get Living reviews

Really enjoying the lifestyle here – great views, staff and everything just works. Admin is minimal and a lot better than traditional tenant-landlord arrangements. Recommend this to all types of tenants – singles / students / young couples etc.” – Hleung, verified resident at Elephant Central

“My wife and I are in our 70s. We sold up a huge house to downsize and free ourselves from the burden of ownership. And what a great place to live. Masses to do, great transport for us and the grandchildren. Fantastic service from Get Living. We are just about to sign up for our second 3 year term.” – Neil H, verified resident at East Village

The home you always wanted

Review Date Sep 2020

Very helpful management. Took feedback into consideration and employed more security around. Very well managed parks and green spaces. Always keeping residents up to date on what’s happening in the area. Good furniture in the houses. Well laid out houses with good layout.
Only negative – the team are not very responsive all the time.

Please tell us what you like and dislike about this area:

Absolutely love the community feel. It feels like you’re away from the bustle of London yet very well connected. You’re surrounded by convenience of local shops, the Westfield mall, grocery stores, NHS and a school. Super green which is a big plus. All in all, great Community for singles,
Couples, families, Babies, and even older people.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

If you ever need urgent assistance or they’re not responding to you, just drop by the office. They’re a busy lot. And before prices go up further book your home here now!

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

Building mgmt and maintenance have been very prompt and responsive

Manager Response

Thanks so much for sharing your experience with us. We hope to continue serving you with the highest standards.

If you can afford it, don’t hesitate. It’s great.

Although some developments are better than others, in general, the design and facilities are great. I lived in three different flats and they have their unique differences, but also very practical perks – like washing machine room, super edgy key system etc. Storage, in the other hand, is not the forte of these developments, so get ready for a minimalist lifestyle!
In terms of management, they have come a long way – when I moved back in 2017, the customer service was by far, the worst thing of living in East Village. Around mid 2019, management started to change and you could see the difference in the service, the possibilities and their attitudes. During the pandemic, probably more than 50% of East Village tenants were working from home, and it wasn’t always easy. Get Living staff -including their 24h security service staff -went beyond and overcame many of the ad hoc problems that raised during that period.

Please tell us what you like and dislike about this area:

In terms of location, is great – it’s an oasis from the noisy area, but close enough to be connected with such a big station like it’s Stratford, the heart of East London.
I can’t comment much on parking, but I know they were a lot of options. In terms of shops, you will find a lot of independent owners, and on a rainy weekend you won’t need to leave the neighbourhood: a brunch in one of the local cafes, a walk in the Wetlands and a cinema night in Westfield. Super safe, green and clean.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

– Good: your guests will love visiting you in your East Village flat, trust me Make sure your living room is cosy and as spacious as possible. If you can, get flats with balconies facing the Olympic village, it makes a difference.
-not so good: low storage capacity – which will probably help you stop hoarding and live with loads of unnecessary items. If you absolutely need storage, find one of the flats where you can get creative for it.
-Bad: their monopoly with certain utility bills, like for example ELE. They have some partnerships since they started the development , and that means tenants sometimes have no freedom to decide suppliers and accepting some extra nonsense fees.

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

Maintenance, great – you call them and they will come maximum 48 hours later unless it’s a real emergency. Customer service en general, very good. There is a lot of perks and initiatives in the village, and they are there for you to enjoy them.

Wish I’d moved in sooner

The flats design is clean and modern but differentiate themselves from similar new developments on quality. Everything is very well put together & it feels like a very high calibre product for the the cost. A lot of attention has been paid to give residents outside space too, with the ground floor apartments having a ‘patio area’ and a number of upstairs ones having balconies and it’s nice to have the outside space of your own which can be hard to find in the city centre. The building management is top class, it’s straightforward and transparent with a queries & maintenance requests going through an app. In the instance were I’ve had to speak with a member of staff they’ve been friendly & responsive. Seven Brothers and the coop are really convenient too and helps with the community aspect of the development – which is also really good.

Please tell us what you like and dislike about this area:

At a brisk walk you can be in the city centre in half an hour, Deansgate which also has lots to offer with bars and restaurants Is even closer. If your looking for something a bit more chilled nearby chapel street has got lots of good pubs, cafes to chose from. Chapel street also has a large park (Peel Park) is great in the summer, plenty of space for exercise, sports and games. Its about 20 minutes to the nearest tram stop which isn’t to bad and from there you can all over greater Manchester.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

How close the retail park is – we spent a lot of time going to the coop on site which is handy but Is a small shop. We didn’t realise how close the large Sainsbury’s is down Oldfield Road, wish we’d known sooner. One bad thing is that we’ve have had some issues with food deliveries due to the development being new & not showing up on the maps for some drivers. However If you include a contact number you can direct them it’s not a big problem.

If there is one thing you would change about your flat or property what would it be:

Surface space in the kitchen is limited unfortunately but we were able to resolve this by mounting our microwave onto a wall bracket – so it’s not longer an issue.

Never planning on leaving

Have lived in the east village since the beginning after moving here from Canada and the improvements and developments have been amazing. Everything is super accessible the staff are so friendly and helpful and it really does feel like home. They do their best to create a community and I am super grateful for all the fun things we get in our very own neighbourhood. I love how we have tons of green spaces, lots of recreational activities and just a good hustle and bustle without it feeling crowded and overwhelmingly. Best of all is all the transportation points.

Fantastic to be a part of the Olympic legacy – East Village is stunning

Beautiful, bright, modern, spacious new-build apartments that are maintained by Get Living, which is a massive plus – if you need a maintenance call-out you just have to drop them a note and they’ll sort it out for you. We have a massive winter garden balcony space which is a huge plus – all flats have outdoor space, whether that’s a terrace, winter garden or balcony. We’ve always been very happy here, I still walk around and can’t believe this is my flat. Other notable amenities are the marble worktops, furniture (comes with furnished flats or you can pick unfurnished if you prefer), stainless steel appliances, hardwood floors with underfloor heating and the video doorbell facility for security/peace of mind.

Please tell us what you like and dislike about this area:

East Village is a stunning area to live in, there’s so much green space you can’t believe you’re in London. It’s incredible to live just a few minutes walk away from the Olympic Pool or the Lea Valley VeloPark, and the Stratford Westfield is a few minutes away too – there is quite simply everything you’d ever need around here. East Village has it’s own collection of local shops, bars and restaurants which are great value and serve up delicious food. Transport links are just brilliant, you won’t find better – you are within a stone’s throw of pretty much anywhere you wish to go in London. The high speed train gets you to King’s Cross in just 6 minutes. There is however, a small issue with antisocial behaviour around here, mainly from teenage kids who go to the nearby Chobham Academy school – it’s also worth bearing in mind that the area is still London, you still have to have your wits about you when out and about, as you would anywhere. Overall, it feels amazing to live here and be a part of the Olympic Park legacy.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

Antisocial behaviour from children/young teens in the courtyard is rife and can be disappointing when you want a quiet evening in, to hear constant screaming/playing in the summer months. This calms down as the weathers gets colder. You also must be really careful with your phones when out and about too because phone jackings have been a problem – this is something obviously out of Get Living’s control. Again, please remember this area is still London and you must be careful as you would anywhere.

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

They always respond and will try and assist you very swiftly. I’m lucky to have only had a few minor maintenance issues during my time here and they’ve always been solved within 48 hours much to my satisfaction. Get Living have a ‘quiet tenancy’ policy which means they will not disturb you during your tenancy – they will only send someone to visit your property if you ask (such as maintenance).
