The houses themselves have been well planned out, making good use of all space and maximising the living space inside.
The gardens are also bigger than you would expect for new build properties, and the roads are wide enough that you don’t feel that they’ve tried to squeeze as many houses into the space as possible.
The process of buying a property was simple, with the team being very helpful throughout. Unfortunately this changed as soon as we’d moved in, and we found ourselves having to continually chase the site manager for updates on our snagging list, a snagging list that was more than you’d expect for a David Wilson home, particularly because the prices start from about £30k more than the equivalent property a 5 minute walk away.
Things like a lack of screw caps on light switches and the connection to the areas sky TV dish left unconnected behind the house plate told us that there was a rush on all of these houses, with little to no quality assurance process. A neighbour even had a fully loaded kitchen cupboard fall off the wall because it hadn’t been put up with wall plugs.
Over time the development has improved drastically, the local centre is starting to see businesses move in and the units would likely be full if it weren’t for COVID-19, and very soon the new gymnastics centre will be built which will only add to the area.
Overall the area is great, it’s well laid out with plenty of green areas. The houses lacked finish to start, however most of not all of the initial issues should now be fixed.
Please tell us what you like and dislike about this area:
Housing has been planned well in that there are plenty of green areas and parks, with the sound from the motorway almost non existent. It is located in the catchment of good schools and is well located for commuting, being close to the motorway, coach station and railway.
There are a good selection of shops nearby and restaurants are located slightly further away, but still within walking distance.
There is not much to dislike about the area, the only frustrating thing is that many of the roads are yet to be finished, but this is to be expected with any new estates.
Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:
I wish I had looked into what I can and can’t raise with the management, and knew a bit more about what I should be looking for.
How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:
At the time (2015) we were in almost constant contact with the management, there were numerous issues around the house that needed rectifying and the management team weren’t particularly fast at responding.
