Poplar HARCA developments

Aberfeldy New Village is a Poplar HARCA development that’s been created in partnership with EcoWorld. The property is in a prime location in East India Docks, just four minutes from Canary Wharf and 15 minutes from the City. The development offers a mix of studios, one and two-bedroom apartments.

“Fantastic we have a concierge and a gym now. The area is constantly changing with new services and new local shops. There are 3 bus routes which serve the stratford and city area and a DLR starion which is a 5 minutes walk.” – Jay M, verified resident at Aberfeldy New Village

Poplar HARCA reviews

“Aberfeldy Village sounds more olde-world storybook than modern residential hub. And there’s a definite peaceful, idyllic tone to this buy-or-rent development. The idea was to create a serene community that puts everything at residents’ fingertips. That said, the facilities list includes a 24-hour concierge service, dedicated work space for professionals, a comfortable residents’ lounge, and a state-of-the-art gym.” – HomeViews Property Pro on Aberfeldy New Village

Great development but could do with social engagement

Fantastic we have a concierge and a gym now. However there is no local shop and there’s no element for any social activity with other residents. I’d really like to see a Facebook group set up so residents can talk about issues and plan social activity

Please tell us what you like and dislike about this area:

Great location and near the Jubilee and DLR lines and close to Stratford and Canary Wharf. However there’s no walkable supermarket.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

The lack of social engamemt with other residents and that the gym and conerige wouldn’t open for a year

Overall great place to live and work, just the building needs a few creases ironed out in order to be perfect

Great landscaped development, with a small amount of amenities, however these seem to be of high quality and never seem overly busy. Concierge is always friendly and helpful and seems very efficiently ran. The only negative is there seems to be a fair number of issues with the building. Contents issues with the heat and water not working. Balconies needing replacement due to not being fire compliant and a lack of sufficient fire safety such as alarms etc, meaning a waking watch is now needed.

Please tell us what you like and dislike about this area:

Easy access to shops at Canning Town and Canary Wharf. The choice of DLR, Jubilee and now the Elizabeth line all within 5 minutes travel. Fairly safe and clean area.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

The continued building work to fix issues with heating and water issues, as well as the fire safety issues.

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

Always instant response and very eager to help with any issues that need fixing.

Simple, convenient, modern living

Very pleasant block with a well-designed community area and garden. Concierge team are excellent and can take packages or keys if you’re not in. The gym is also good, although could do with a couple more machines during busier times. Flats are modern, light and airy and do not feel cramped in the way so many London flats often do. There can unfortunately be some loud traffic noise from time to time as the development is right next to a busy main road. The development has also been plagued with intermittent loss of hot water over the last couple of years but hopefully that has been sorted now with the ongoing works to expand the development.

Please tell us what you like and dislike about this area:

Likes: Excellent transport links with both Canning Town and East India stations less than a 10 minute walk away. Close to the river.

Dislikes: Fairly sparse in terms of entertainment, pubs, restaurants, shops compared to other parts of London.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

All flats here use HIUs (heating interface units) instead of a traditional boiler. These seem to be terribly unreliable and routinely fill up with debris and dirt, which can cause loss of hot water. I will always think twice about living somewhere with a HIU from now on.

If there is one thing you would change about your flat or property what would it be:

The bathroom has no windows, which gives it a rather claustrophobic feel.

Nice place

Reception area with tables and media room designed like a meeting room for people to have meetings, interviews and watch a movie is great.
But, It would be great if bbq was allowed on the grass area too.
Balcony window can close and open is very handy.

Please tell us what you like and dislike about this area:

Love the receptionist that help take parcels and good customer service, close to dlr, bus and tube.

Not so good is there is always no hot water in the winter time.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

Nothing much

What is the best feature of your home:

Peaceful, not noisy, balcony with close windows so the clothes don’t get wet when is raining
