It’s OK

Whilst the development itself is well finished, I do find that the layout is completely illogical. For example, we have three toilets in a 2 1/2 bedroom flat. There is no need for this amount of toilets when the space could’ve been utilised better and create bigger rooms. The master bedroom, or what is supposed to be the master bedroom, has an ensuite attached which won’t open regardless of size of bed you put in. we have had to resort to moving the bed into the spare bedroom and made the master bedroom the office due to the poor layout design. With that said this has made the ensuite completely unusable as we have two desks in there so it’s just wasted space. The kitchen and living room have a fairly okay layout, but again we have a downstairs cloakroom that could’ve been utilised better. The parking situation isn’t ideal either as people tend to just park how they want without any consideration for others. So coming home late makes it challenging to find a decent parking space that’s close to where I live.

Please tell us what you like and dislike about this area:

Parking can be challenging at times as it seems to be an “as long as I’m ok” attitude. There are often huge gaps between cars because people tend to be quite inconsiderate when parking. The shops are good. We are close to a big Tesco and a Lidl so no complaints on that front. The bins are a bit challenging because the collection point is to be at the top of the road. We are at the bottom so it makes it much harder to bring them in and take them out. Throughout the summer, we have seen numerous rats are roaming the garden area. The rats are completely unacceptable considering it is a brand-new development and we are paying quite a lot of money considering the area.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

I think there are too many houses for the amount of parking spaces that we have available so it makes it challenging. We didn’t obviously notice before we moved in so it would’ve been nice to maybe get a heads up.

Most households these days have two cars between them, so that should’ve been something that was planned for.

The other thing is is the bins collection location. We had no idea that ours was at the top of the road and that a bin lorry won’t fit down this road.

Surely it would’ve made sense to create a street that allows for this.

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

We have only had one issue so far and the management company has responded appropriately.

It has its flaws.

The design of the house interior is nice to the eye. But unfortunately there are a lot issues with the build quality, with cubords falling off, plaster falling off of walls, locks not working on back door or gate and pipes leaking.

Space in rooms is a little small, bathroom is good but the windows are still see through.
Management of the properties are excellent, all staff are friendly and kind and super helpful.

Please tell us what you like and dislike about this area:

Local shops make it easy to shop. Bin collection is always on time.
There can be quite a lot of some anti-social behaviour, children will brake the lights in the park and kick balls off of the walls quite a lot. Very close to the town and facilities.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

Bathroom windows are see through to neighbours. It’s always either super warm or super cold. The boiler falters regularly.
There are rats in the alleys.

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

The building management have acted upon any issues brought up fast and effectively, unfortunately many issues with the building is down to the initial build.

The development itself is very tasteful and stylish

The development itself is very tasteful and stylish, fitting in well with most of the surrounding area. The design of the houses is very modern, but given they’re renovations of old dock worker houses they still retain character. The downside is the sound-proofing between houses is quite poor, so if you’re unfortunate with your neighbours then it can be a bit of a headache, but the majority of those who live on the development are very conscientious and reasonable.
Building management and repairs has always been swift and helpful. Some residents were told communal hubs, buildings and spaces were promised early in the development which haven’t materialised, but that’s a minor issue given the communal gardens do provide that space to some extent.

Please tell us what you like and dislike about this area:

The Welsh Streets development is brilliant, and has been successful in bringing together a range of people from varied backgrounds into a unified community. The local shops, supermarkets and pubs are great, and we’re right next to some of Liverpool’s biggest parks.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

The sound-proofing not being the best would have been good to know, as we’d have chosen our bedroom a little more carefully! We also weren’t really aware of just how good the location is before moving in, as we were new to Liverpool; being so close to parks and serenity but also walking/ cycling distance to the city centre is ideal.

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

Very swiftly and helpfully. We’ve needed building management a number of times for routine issues, and it’s always been a prompt and speedy response.

It could have been great.

The houses are a great design small and compact. Nice kitchen and bathrooms. The houses all need re-painting on the inside and the floors aren’t very level or smooth. Not much privacy and takes a while to get in touch with management. Communal space is great if you have kids as it is safe. But overall the rent price is way too much for a tiny house and not much privacy.

Please tell us what you like and dislike about this area:

I think the housing development is in a great place close to shops and schools, transport links and the city centre is in walking distance.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

How little privacy you get and how the rent is ridiculous and gets higher every year.

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

They haven’t responded very well to anything it’s either generic or like they can’t be bothered
