The good, the bad and the ugly

Our property is set back from the main part of the development which is perforable as the gardens on the main estate are very small and overlooked. We love the design of the 2 bedroom house however the upstairs space could be better used as there is a main bathroom and an en-suite (making a total of 3 bathrooms including the WC downstairs for a 2 bedroom house). The exterior of the house is lovely and the garden is a good size. The flowerbeds at the front of the property that are maintained by the Shared Ownership partner are not well kept and so look messy. They have been easy to contact for problems within the house and responded in a suitable time frame. The park area could have more play equipment and the paths around the estate need finishing.

This development is set in a beautiful location, back from the main road, with excellent access to Hockley Woods. The development is quiet and peaceful with lots of wildlife. It is close to the neighbouring towns of Hockley and Rayleigh as well as a local pub. The only downside is that there not a shop within walking distance.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

Measure the width of the drive way! Our driveway has the house wall on one side and a fence on the other. It looks like you are able to easily fit a car down it and open the doors but in reality it is very narrow and can to a squeeze to get in and out of the car.

What is the best feature of your home:

I love the kitchen and that the lounge is rear facing into the garden.

Maintenance of green areas is limited to grass cutting

A number of different size homes, ranging from starter, shared ownership, 2, 3, 4 and 5 bedroom properties. Single track road into and around the development. Lacking road signs and markings only a matter of time before an accident happens. Maintenance of green areas is limited to grass cutting, removal of tree debris is non existant, they just mow around it spoiling the look. Quiet area on the edge of ancient woodland.

Please tell us what you like and dislike about this area:

Nice area to live. Easy access to nearby shops, restaurants and amenities. On a bus route with nearby stations with easy links to major cities. Good local parking, weekly refuse collections no antisocial behaviour.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

The developer wasn’t very considerate to existing residents treating them as an inconvenience.

What is the best feature of your home:

A terraced property in a quiet area with access to countryside and town.

Scenic, Serenic Development

The design is lovely, very scenic and lots of greenery. The houses look nice from the outside and it’s not a crowded development which is great. When we have had snags which weren’t many and nothing serious the management were quick to rectify. The grass is always kept tidy I see the gardeners regularly.

Please tell us what you like and dislike about this area:

It is a lovely, scenic peaceful development. Lots of open space and backing on to the woods. The neighbours are really friendly and the area feels safe. Lots of wildlife too. We have our own parking and haven’t noticed any issues with parking. Bins are collected on time and delivery’s now know where we are. No traffic noise. 5 mins by car to Hockley & Rayleigh high street and bus stop around 5/10 mins walk away. Nice restaurants and bars in nearby villages and close to the seaside also.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

Flooring doesn’t come with the cost and flooring by the developers is optional for extra cost and we asked for a quote on this and never got one back.

What is the best feature of your home:

The garden is a very nice size and not overlooked.
