I have personally had many issues

The development has not been straight forward by any means. I have personally had many issues- from no cold water access in the bathroom from June 2020- February 2021 (my baby was born in October 2020 so was unable to bathe him without leaving the water to cool). Design of the the outside of the home we love- it’s what attracted us! Facilities in the house are basic and have taken a long time to fix (we are still waiting for our landing to be fixed for the 4/5th time). We have had issues with the front door in July 2020 and these were not rectified for 48 hours. As the issues with the house became less immediate we found that the resolution time from emails sent to the work being completed was very slow. I can imagine that this is because so many people had issues and the back log from covid. I also had issue that friends of mine bought a house in March 2021 and had their home snag free after 2 months yet here we are nearly 2 years on still with snags. I did raise all issues and mainly I have been taken seriously and things have been “dealt” with by sanctuary’s standards. The building management has been appalling and I will never buy from Engie again. I do not recommend them. They need to work on people skills, how they talk to people, how they might be perceived when 3 men are stood in your home, about you, in front of you. Disgusting behaviour that I am still very unsatisfied by as there was no apology and no resolution by the builder. The landscaping is awful, we have a patch between my house and the neighbour on the corner that is unattended to and has been for 2 years- and looks really awful! There are weeds are all over communal plants, the builders 8 weeks ago left some some plaster board and wood outside of our house on the grassed area and it’s still there (someone took the wood but the plaster board is still there killing the grass!) the maintenance of the landscaping is just very poor- payments for this are taken every month though! I was told we would have a rebate which I’m still waiting for. The quality of the turf put down in the garden is so poor and this was laid by some men who let themselves into my home a few days after I’d moved in!

Please tell us what you like and dislike about this area:

Glastonbury is lovely to live in, I feel very lucky with where our plot is situated within the development, and very lucky to have neighbours that we get on with. Parking is fine, no real issues apart from the road 2 years on still not being laid. Bin collections now are ok we’re not too new. There has been a break into my neighbours car. We can hear traffic noise but mainly at night.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

I wish I knew about the snags that were picked up before moving in, I wish I knew that you needed to chase things where you’re unhappy with the length of time it’s been left unattended to. Also I wish I knew that chasing is essential. My neighbours have had very little work done because they’ve not chased! So make sure you chase!

What is the best feature of your home:

I love the look of the house- the grey colour of the windows and doors against our brick is beautiful.

First time home owners

Kingsfield has been the best place to get onto the property ladder. We initially fell in love with the overall look of the estate and thought it looked modern but still had the look of a normal house. It wasnt trying to be something its not. The layout of the estate is well thought through.

The house layout was also well thought through. Nice snd spacious living spaces.

Facilities on the estate are limited. We dont have many areas of grassland to walk dogs. There isnt a park for children. But then again things like this are close by.

Weve been extremely lucky that any snags or issues we have had have been rectified in good time. We are excited to see the finished product of the estate. But luck living here with ongoing work taking place hasnt affected us.

We really love our Shapwick house. And have found the experience of buying a property extremely satisfying. Only down point we found was buying a house in a pandemic was extremely stressful. Not being able to see what your buying until the day you receive your keys was a worry. But thankfully all was great and we are happy to be living at Kingsfield. Seeing the show home really helped put our minds at ease. Although not the type of house we had it was helpful to see the finishes in the kitchens and bathrooms.

Wouldnt hesitate to recommend anyone looking at buying a sanctuary home. We feel lucky to be here.

Please tell us what you like and dislike about this area:

Kingsfield is the perfect location to all local amenities. Easy walkable access to the high street. Great local traditional pubs and restaurants. Nice places for dog walks near by. Perfect location to live in Glastonbury and have good links to other towns. But be far enough away from the main hustle and bustle of Glastonbury. Living in our plot on the estate is great. We havent had any issues.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

A great insight would be to have a proper walk around the house to be shown how things work. Moving in to a empty house as first time buyers can be quite worrying. How to use different bits in the house. To be shown what the different plug sockets and bits were for and did. We actually learnt alot more from asking builders and electricians on the estate who built the house. Finding out that we had electrics for a stair lift. Or this is where a burglar alarm would go is useful information

What is the best feature of your home:

The best feature of our home is the Kitchen. We love the style and high quality product that was put in.

Good location but not good for parking

The design of the house is good and the location is great. The property management experience was great initially, a major leak was fixed the next day and a few minor snags were resolved. However, outstanding snags haven’t been fixed and we are still waiting to hear from them. Upon purchasing our property we were advised that parking spaces were allocated, we have had continuous issues with parking, I have requested multiple times for road markings to help resolve the problem however the housing development seem to ignore my requests. Communication and updates have been poor!

Please tell us what you like and dislike about this area:

The local area is okay, a variety of good local shops nearby and the train station is a short distance away, however, we have had multiple issues with the parking in our allocated parking spot. We have also had violent behaviour from housing association properties including police being called numerous times.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

I wish that allocated parking spaces were marked and also to have been informed of the location of social housing as tenants have caused many issues with police callouts.

What is the best feature of your home:

Great overall design, the garden size good and very spacious inside.

The building itself has been tastefully designed

The building itself has been tastefully designed, nice neutral colours making it look both modern and always clean. Although we do not have a lift in our building others within the same complex do and there are also homes for those with additional needs. The outside has also been well thought out its both functional and relaxing, with a park for children and paved areas if you wish to walk your dog. A lot of green space so even if you do not have a garden you still have plenty of open space if you wish to be in the outdoors. Overall the building is very well maintained and if there is an issue it is dealt with in a timely manner.

Please tell us what you like and dislike about this area:

Fantastic location, walking distance to the city centre and a short walk to the beach, supermarkets are also 5 minutes away . Great views of the river too. Transport no issue with multiple busses within a two minute walking distance and train station in city centre. Great parking facilities on site and there’s always spaces although not dedicated. Fantastic foliage all around the building and a play park for children. Regular bin collections with large recycling facilities. Although on a very busy road traffic noise dose not appear to be an issue.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

Fantastic mix of people live in the properties, its a very friendly complex to live in.

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

Anytime an issue has arose it has generally been dealt with or at least inspected within 24hrs.
