Awful management, not good value.

The property landlords are so rude, unhelpful and are quick to threaten your finances if you’re late on a payment. The property itself is alright other than the paint quality. It’s cheap. They don’t provide any furniture other than the bed and kitchen stools, which is misleading as the ad shows additional chairs. Not to mention, they let themselves into your apartment without asking you or letting you know.

Please tell us what you like and dislike about this area:

The good is the area. Ecclesall road is lively full of shops and life. The bad is the noise from people going out at night, traffic noise, no proper security for packages that are delivered to the apartment. The bins are always overflowing, disgusting with rats and they don’t do anything about it.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

The tenants attitude and how they let themselves into your apartment at any time

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

They haven’t responded to anything and I am disappointed

Great location, good building and facilities, reasonable value, decent estate agent

The whole building is well-designed, making good use of space and not feeling too cramped. However, my flat, which is a studio flat, is a bit small for comfort. I chose to live here because it was the cheapest flat but I would recommend paying a bit extra for more space. The facilities are good with a dishwasher, good shower and washer-drier provided. If you report a minor issue, it may take a while to be fixed or may not be fixed at all; however more major issues will be fixed relatively quickly.

Please tell us what you like and dislike about this area:

Great selection of bars, pubs, restaurants and retail shops on Ecclesall Road. Good transport links with many popular routes running nearby and the bus station within a 25 minutes walk. Plenty of on-site parking available at a cost and some on-street parking available – mostly pay and display but a few free spots. Can be noisy on weekends as a lot of people walk past the building, especially on match days.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

Porterbrook North gets a lot of foot and motor traffic. I would recommend Porterbrook Central or South instead.

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

Major issues like a broken toilet system are fixed quickly. Minor issues like a loose panel in my kitchen don’t get fixed quickly / at all.

great flat, iffy location

the actual flat is lovely, high quality finish and very easily accessible for those with physical disabilities. the lobby is comfortable with a security lock and local artwork, really just somewhere where you’d want to come home to. it really just is the anti social behaviours outside, the bins and the rats that let the place down.

Please tell us what you like and dislike about this area:

there’s a rat infestation outside, three cars have been broken into in the carpark, the metal bins have scratched the car and the bins regularly overflow into the carpark. there are regular drug deals outside the front door and it is very noisy at night. also found a condom in the fire alarm when i went to change the batteries. overlooks an abandoned building site.

next to a genuinely lovely graveyard and woods

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

about the bin/rat situation and the high volume of car break ins and theft

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

they usually email back quickly, but due to a change in offices they can be quite tricky to get a hold of.

A practical and fuss free accommodation with excellent location

Porterbrook Apartments are modern, well insulated and in a quiet location which is also close to many amenities. The building is kept clean and well maintained, with good decoration. The apartments are lacking in some furniture (no desk and chair or additional storage) but the furnishings available are good.

Please tell us what you like and dislike about this area:

The apartments are located just next to Ecclesall Road which has a lot of cafés, restaurants, independent shops and a couple of small supermarkets. The street is quiet most of the time as it is away from the road, sometimes there is noise from the bar on the corner. There is a few bus routes but the buses are not totally reliable. There is a good amount of on street parking and the car park is really useful.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

The big windows are a unique feature in comparison to other apartments so you can get lot of light into the rooms

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

The apartment was decorated at a bad time for me and I wasn’t given enough information to prepare my room for the works.
