Southern Housing Group developments

Southern Housing Group reviews

“The Bow River Village, developed by Site Sales and designed by Frank Reynolds Architects, has already won acclaim for its affordable housing, which is particularly aimed at first time buyers. Located along the River Lea in Bromley by Bow, the one, two and three and four-bedroom waterfront apartments start from around £360,000, with the option of shared ownership (where the buyer owns 25-75% of the property), making it a realistic way to get on the property ladder in London.” – HomeViews Property Pro on Bow River Village

Modern, simple flat with good security, Close to new transport links

Modern an simple design aesthetic exterior with clean and modern apartment interiors. Good security with electronic FOB locks on doors leading to apartments (at least 2 before any front door). Pleasant outdoor secluded garden.

Community facilities include 2 lifts, indoor rubbish storage area, video intercom to main entrance and small a postbox. Apartments come with many installed appliances including stove/hob cooker, large fridge-freezer, dishwasher and kitchen counters and cabinets, the Utility closet has a clothes washer and very good air purifying and circulation system. Apartments are otherwise unfurnished

Building/Property management are sometimes slow to respond to inquires and the contact system for concerns or complaints is convoluted at best.

Please tell us what you like and dislike about this area:

Good aspects of living in this area:
– Very good transport links to Central London. Regular buses to Stratford and Trains to Liverpool Street
– Convenient supermarket and shopping mall within 5 mins walk
Bad aspects of living in this area:
– Noisy road (North Circular) is practically right outside the window
– Local cuisine options are fairly limited to Indian-style with only a few options otherwise

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

How busy and constant the noise from the North Circular road would be.

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

Building Management has been very slow to answer questions and address concerns and complaints that I have had specifically; it took over a month to replace a faulty washing machine, and the intercom for the building has been patchy for several months now. The process and contact details for registering a fault or concern are convoluted.

Quiet development despite busy road

I like the apartment – it’s spacious for a one bed. The quality is average – the balcony doors have broken twice and are still not properly fixed. There was also a serious water leak in the building and the lock on the front door jammed so the fire service had to come and fix it. The development is great noise-wise – you cannot hear the noise from the road or other apartments.

Please tell us what you like and dislike about this area:

I have lived in the area for a while and I like it a lot. A big downside is the gang activity nearby and the subsequent risk of being mugged.

Close to train station but a bit expensive

The apartment is nice and modern – its quite spacious and a nice design. There have been a few issues though such as a blocked drain which caused a really horrible smell in the apartment. It also took the building management a while to fix it.

I like the river but i do not like the noise from the road

Great location and value

The apartment is fine, its pretty spacious for a two bed. We have had some little niggles – for instance the decorative covering on the fridge door has broken so we have to open two doors each time. This is a minor issue but annoying as we only moved in a month ago. The security on the building is really good – I feel very safe.

Please tell us what you like and dislike about this area:

I like the area a lot – there is a massive tesco and its not far from anywhere. there are great transport links. i dont like that its noisy in the mornings due to the construction going on next door.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

That the building on the construction site next door would start at 7 or 8am Monday to Saturday

Why did you choose this development:

good value for london and a really good location for commuting
