Good overall place

Development is good, they made the pavements outside really high but overall good place.
Could do with more windows to let more natural light in. Hopefully it’s is good that we are being encouraged to voice our opinions which is glad to see

Good location but this is now becoming a student accommodation property and not for professional adults.

We have had a few occasions where we’ve had to report things on multiple occasions, for example toilet seat and hot water problems.

It has taken some time to get this issue sorted but I think this is because of having to go through multiple people. We didn’t bother getting the toilet seat problem sorted out because it was just too long winded. The design of the property and the building is good we enjoy our little hallway that we have and we enter and the utility room is very spacious.

Please tell us what you like and dislike about this area:

We have been living here for nearly a year. When we first moved in we really liked the environment and the people in the building. Over the past 4 to 5 months, it feels more like student accommodation rather than actual adults living here. The car park is often used by people who let other people in using their fob, there has been many nights where people are making loud noises outside the cigarette areas or by people who have brought their friends over we can hear them screaming in the corridors. This goes on into the late hours. As I am speaking and writing this right now they are loud people in the hallway outside and we can often smell cannabis users. I have also firsthand witnessed people inhaling balloons. Given that we pay such high rent, I would not have expected to live in such circumstances. Most recently, I have come across a lot of mess in the communal areas, items have been left out bags, litter etc.
The Silver lining is that hopefully we will be moving out soon. I will say on a positive note, we do like our apartment it is very spacious and the appliances are very good. The location is very good and the street parking is also good. However it is not an area that I would like to walk around on my own at night as a female. Local shops are decent but heavily priced.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

I wish I had known that this property would be filled with students and loud noise and people who are very inconsiderate. It would’ve heavily influenced our decision moving here as we are working professionals and don’t appreciate this.

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

When we had problems with the hot water for example Our landlord put us in touch with the repair guy who came up promptly. However we have had an issue with our toilet seat since we have moved in and we have tried twice to get this sorted out but the person has never showed up. I had to stay home from work for one occasion and he never appeared.

Good location, average management

CCTV is required because of the theft mentioned above.
Design and facilities are good.
When we moved in in July 2021, we asked for some help with issues in our home e.g. flooring and walls in the bathroom had yellow stains and the back door handle was damaged. I submitted a request over the phone and heard nothing back.

Please tell us what you like and dislike about this area:

Parking availability is poorly managed. Street is always full on both sides due to the MSV care home staff parking in our space.
There is regular theft on the street at night. People’s car gets unlocked and items are stolen and the car is left open overnight and the police will not do anything about it.
Lots of local shops and the main bus stop is right around the corner.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

The lack of support from MSV housing and the kitchen exhaust fan not having a vent taking the air out of the house. Both fans need to be on and both doors need to be open while cooking otherwise the smell spreads to the top of the house, even with the door to the staircase closed.

What is the best feature of your home:

A toilet/bathroom on all 3 floors and the storage space.

Overpriced for the area

Design is well constructed apart from the fact there is no ventilation. Apartments stay hot at night when it’s been a hot day. Same for vice versa. Rooms stay really cold when it’s been a cold day. In regards to staying on top of problems in the apartment, it’s not good. We’ve been asking for them to fix problems and still not sorted for over 6 months.

Please tell us what you like and dislike about this area:

There are plenty of restaurants near by in regards to take away, specifically Asian food. Bus to Manchester is no more than 10 minute walk. Tram is not so local. Area is not really safe at night time. Loud cars go up Bowes Street every day not following speed limit. Parking on Bowes street causes obstruction. Area is also known for drugs. Two deaths were also witnessed not too long ago. Rent price is far too high for the area the apartments are located.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

That we only had a shower. On building plan there was a bath.

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

Most problems have not been fixed after 6 months. They fixed the rubbish problem in the car park fairly quick though.
