Not value for money

Middlewood plaza has the potential to be a lovely block, however from the day I moved in there was numerous issues with the flat, which I would consider in issues that could be picked up in defect- sockets not working, lights not working, poor finishing, several requests for things to be fixed and development washed their hands of it. Sloppy work from labouring team leaving dust and rubbish under the fitted kitchen and very poor finishing complete lack of pride in work… dry cement or railings! Sky lounge is not complete and therefore not useable. Roof terrace has no furniture. reception has marked walls, parking is extremely limited and expensive – on top of high rent, which I do not feel is reflected in the flat or the block overall.

Please tell us what you like and dislike about this area:

Local shops- large sainsburys, coop, off licence all a few minutes walk
Restaurants- deansgate/spinningfields around a 10 minute walk
Open spaces – peel park around a 15 minute walk
Transport links – none
Parking – limited but available on road parking
Bins – fine
Antisocial behaviour – none
Traffic noise – some

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

Wish I would have know that construction of the building next door would be so ongoing – constant dust and rubble and rubbish in the outside spaces, cannot have the windows open on week days due to noise… I have had work men trying to take pictures of me through my bedroom window!!

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

Building management have tried their best to combat issues, however have been transparent about their abilities – eventually I have gave up reporting issues.

Life at Middlewood Plaza

As for facilities they are decent enough. The bin room is always kept tidy. The package pick up system is very convenient. The front desk concierge officers are lovely people. My one grief is the inability to buzz in guest from my flat. The monitor cameras often do not work and wasn’t set up properly.

The unfortunate part about the location is it’s not finished. When viewing the flat I was told the rooftop would be completed within a month and would feature quiet stations and seating areas for hangout. None of that has materialized in the 8 months since moving in.

Please tell us what you like and dislike about this area:

Middlewood Plaza is conveniently located to important living necessities such as grocery stores, restaurants, and transit lines. My flat has a good view of the city with a good view of fireworks that seem to regularly take place some where far off.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

I wish I knew that the rooftop was not in plans to be finished anytime soon. I would’ve picked a different place instead.

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

My flat is privately owned by Nova Financial. They aren’t the best at responding to problems or telling the truth. My experience with the building management has been far better and responsive.

Good but room for improvement

The apartments are modern and minimalistic. The kitchen and bathroom is high quality. The building itself is pretty basic. There is a lack of facilities, with just a seating area and bar which doesn’t get much use from residents. It would be nice if there was a gym for residents. Building management and property management is OK but could be improved. There is not always someone in the front desk to collect parcels from and often one of the lifts is out of service.

Please tell us what you like and dislike about this area:

Very close to the centre so lots of shops, restaurants and bars nearby. A couple of open spaces. Very good transport links. The street has limited parking and there is sometimes traffic noise.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

You don’t get all of the perks, such as room service, like it’s advertised.

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

Didn’t get a response when raised an issue on the residents app. Email is unreliable. Usually quick to respond over the phone or speak in person.
