Jones Homes, where quality does not count!

The Jones development is an attractive estate of fairly individual well designed homes but that’s about where it ends. The build quality is shocking with over 200 snags still outstanding over 3 years after moving in. Many of these snags are not small in nature. The quality of the finish throughout is terrible including the fixtures, plaster finish and shoddy decorating. The customer service from Jones homes is none existent, given the chance I would never have bought this house as it has and continues to be a living nightmare.

Please tell us what you like and dislike about this area:

The area has good amenities close by and great links to the major motorway networks. The schools in the area are good.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

That’s the build quality of the Jones homes was so poor and that their aftercare/customer service was so poor

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

With ignorance and lack of any empathy or care. Could not be less interested in resolving ours and our neighbours numerous issues

A great location for first time buyers

The houses are nicely designed, and are spaced out very nicely – sometimes new build estates are extremely cramped but ours isn’t.

Building management is good, anything that we have required has been dealt with in a timely manner.

There is a lot of “wild grass” areas that really could do with more maintenance, such as around ponds and along walkways, but more is to be said on this topic.

Please tell us what you like and dislike about this area:

The estate is away from the main road, quiet and comfortable. Local amenities such as Lidl and other businesses on Poulton industrial estate are really handy – like the vets and the gym. Poulton has a fantastic selection of bars and restaurants and we’re always looking to eat out.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

We’d have liked to have known that maintenance on the landscape isn’t going to be started until a later stage (I think once the adjoining Persimmon development is finished).

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

Any snags or concerns were dealt with immediately. We had an issue whereby our loft hatch was in the wrong place in the spare room, and thus couldn’t accommodate fitted wardrobes. Movement of the hatch was organised and was completed in a few hours to a very high standard.

Great first home !

Out property manager Dave was amazing!!! The best we ever came across. He helped us with everything and was switched on. I think he is retired now, so I can’t comment on the current management.
The design of the house is basic. They could modernise some aspects in the bathrooms, kitchen and radiators.
Our house was built too quickly we think because it still after 2 years has many issues that need fixing. The landscapers lack imagination, we redid our whole garden and paving.

Please tell us what you like and dislike about this area:

Great location, close to parks and natural walking trails, good quality roads, nice neighbourhood, spacious sidewalks, clean and very kids friendly. Development is close to the train station and Wilmslow town and schools
There is no much parking availability however and houses are very close together.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

Great hone, no comment.

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

Dave, Vicki in the offices and Bruce Lawson have helped us tremendously and we thank them so much !!

I really like the design of the houses on Heather View

I really like the design of the houses on Heather View, the golden coloured stone and roof shape designs on the porches make an appealing characterful property, and not all houses on the outside are exactly the same, so having some individuality is good.

Given the price of houses these days however, one would have expected all homes to have house alarms as standard and not just a select few. Whilst crime in this area is considered to be low, there’s a tell tale sign of which homes are protected by alarms and which aren’t with the bright red flashing lights and the absence on other houses.

In a time of environmental awareness, you would expect new homes nowadays to be more environmentally friendly, the lack of solar panels and green boiler alternatives would have been a welcome sign of change.

Had a few issues with the overall finish of the property, ranging from faulty roof tiles, poor French door fittings (don’t close at all in hot weather unless slammed very very hard, on occasions they don’t shut at all) apparently in the home manual this is normal! Also poor finish to fittings and plastering fall short of expection in a new build.

Please tell us what you like and dislike about this area:

Heather View is in an enviable setting, located in a lovely rural village with plenty of options to explore the surrounding areas within reach of the main cities such as Sheffield and Huddersfield. The location was the reason for purchase, and being able to take advantage of the government help to buy certainly made my move become a reality for which without, wouldn’t have been possible. I cannot comment any negatives I have experienced, just certain issues with the finish of the property which will be mentioned in the next section. Neighbours, rural setting, convenience to larger towns/cities make Heather View a great place to call home.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

How environmentally friendly the houses are built to.

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

Any issues reported have been dealt with in a reasonable amount of time.
