Is my Cavanna home a good one?

This is a charming place to live. Quiet, with amenities close by. Plenty of visitor parking. Great house. Lovely design, with a good sized drive and garden.
Very poor customer service from Cavanna. Snagging list seems endless. I am still waiting for several jobs to be done to complete my property after almost 2 years! No response to emails/ phone calls/ complaints. If you buy a Cavanna property be prepared for a very long wait for jobs to be completed or rectified.

Please tell us what you like and dislike about this area:

This development is conveniently located about a 10 mins walk to the town centre. Plenty of pubs/restaurants and shops to choose from. It is quiet and quite charming on the edge of beautiful walks. No traffic noise or anti social behaviour. Bin collection is excellent, and visitor parking is available.
There is good public transport a short walk away. Only down side is that this development is at the top of a very steep hill, so the walk home from town/ transport is quite a challenge! You need to be fit!

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

It would of been very helpful to know that the after sales team would be a long process, therefore sub contractors, gardeners etc could be booked in to “fit” with dates/timings.

What is the best feature of your home:

The position is fabulous. The aesthetics of the development is admirable, and charming.

Great build quality, wonderful service from Cavanna and a lovely town too!

Since first enquiring about the Broadleigh Park development, to exchanging on my property and moving in to my new home I have been impressed with Cavanna. The quality of the build is very good, well thought out layout and additional features which other home builders do not always include as standard – for example the outside tap and outside electric socket. The inevitable minor snags that have occurred since moving in have been dealt with promptly and efficiently by Cavanna. In regards to the estate management fees, I’m not entirely sure what these funds are spent on but there does appear to be a gardener who tidied up all the shared green areas every couple of weeks. If I was looking to purchase a new build again in the future Cavanna would definitely be my first choice.

Please tell us what you like and dislike about this area:

Tavistock is a lovely market town and the Cavanna development is located within a 15 minute walk of the town centre. There is a good range of shops, cafes and restaurants as well as a well maintained park in the town. The Cavanna development is configured relatively well for parking, with all properties having their own parking spaces. However, homes with multiple vehicles and visitors means cars are parked on the kerb most of the time. Traffic noise is minimal. My only complaint is that the roads within phase 1 of the development have still not been completed, even though phase 1 finished many months ago.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

As I was able to chose the kitchen/bathroom/flooring I would advise others not to make any decisions immediately but to take time to review all the options available. I thought I knew exactly what I wanted to chose but then did a complete U-turn on my choices.

What is the best feature of your home:

Great quality build with good fixtures and fittings which has meant I haven’t had to do any DIY or decorating. Cavanna have provided me with a fantastic quality easily maintainable home.

Great property in prime location

The development is large but spread out. Different styles and designs of properties. The design of my property is great. I think my property would benefit from bigger windows. I have good facilities although not enough storage space built into the house, slim cupboard downstairs and we one small cupboard above the stairs. The garden is large although not level and the patio layout is poor and not well designed. My kitchen is of poor taste. Property management needed more attention before signing off and work not up to standard.

Excellent location in great town. Loads of amenities and close to Dartmoor. The street I live on is small, quiet and no traffic passing through. Parking is ok, 2 spaces provided unfortunately not by the house and no visitors area. No street lights- extremely dark and vulnerable street.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

Parking is not outside house when it could have been planned better. Rent went up quite abit in first year.

What is the best feature of your home:

The best feature of my new home is the downstairs living area.

The good and the not so good.

The layout of the site is good and takes into account that it is built on heavily sloping terrain. The houses are generally of good quality and well built. Appreciating the problems of covid the site is well behind completion, having been in my property for nearly two years and work still being done. The site has been lacking in cleanliness and health and safety. There were obvious faults with our property that should have been dealt with before we moved in. After care is very hit and miss. Some problems dealt with quickly, we were lucky builders still on site, but other problems taking time or even not resolved.

Wincanton has suffered during the recession but there are some lovely local shops, a couple of excellent pubs and two supermarkets. Lovely park nearby.

Not advised that this was a timber framed building

What is the best feature of your home:

Reasonable sized garden and garage for a new property
