Yorkshire and the Humber

Sitting directly north of the East Midlands, Yorkshire and the Humber has a history strongly connected to the steel, coal and farming industries. Although still a major player in the UK’s energy industry, the region is still adjusting to the move towards cleaner fuels and cheap steel imports. However, Leeds is a thriving finance and business hub, while Sheffield has enjoyed a strong resurgence in recent years as a centre for the creative arts and music. Grimsby is the centre of the UK’s fishing industry, with agriculture and food processing also providing a major source of income for the region.

Yorkshire and the Humber counties

South Yorkshire

Formed of the districts of Sheffield, Rotherham, Barnsley and Doncaster, South Yorkshire is the southernmost area within Yorkshire and the Humber. The Pennines dominate the county’s landscape, with part of the Peak District National Park lying within South Yorkshire.

West Yorkshire

West Yorkshire constitutes five metropolitan boroughs: City of Bradford, City of Leeds, Calderdale, Kirklees and City of Wakefield. Bradford, Halifax and Huddersfield were strongly connected to England’s wool industry, with much of their history and architecture dictated by it, while Leeds and the south of the county are more connected to heavy engineering industries.

East Riding of Yorkshire

The East Riding’s name comes from the traditional titles for three of Yorkshire’s smaller regions: the East, West and South Ridings. The East Riding retains the name and is bounded to the south by the Humber Estuary and to the east by the North Sea.

North Yorkshire

England’s largest non-metropolitan county, North Yorkshire is famous for the North York Moors and the Yorkshire Dales National Parks. Middlesbrough and York are its two largest urban settlements, while other key towns include Harrogate and Scarborough.

Leeds from above

North Lincolnshire

North Lincolnshire falls within the Yorkshire and the Humber region, and within the Lincolnshire county. Key towns include Scunthorpe and Epworth.

North East Lincolnshire

North East Lincolnshire is a Unitary Authority Area and falls within the Yorkshire and the Humber region. This area was formed from the boroughs of Cleethorpes and Great Grimsby in 1996.

Yorkshire and the Humber cities

The five cities in Yorkshire and the Humber are Leeds, Sheffield, Bradford, Hull, and York. Leeds is the largest, with almost 800,000 inhabitants in 2019.

Outside areas are managed well and kept tidy

Good range of shops within walking distance and a few pubs serving food. Never had any parking or bin collections problems no anti social behaviour or traffic noise.

Please review your development:

The houses are designed for maximum space and have white goods already in the property, neutral design and easy to maintain. Outside areas are managed well and kept tidy. Always hard to get hold of management and speak to someone but the online fixflo report problem service is managed quite well and effectively.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

Nothing really apart from the children play area in the area still not being opened after 2 years but again that’s a developer issues with building.

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

Most problems sorted out quickly and effectively just one issue took 9 months to sort out but start living were chasing it, it’s was the developer that took ages.

Had potential to be great but design flaws let it down.

Good – Everything is within 5-10 minutes of where we live.
Bad – estate close by is a nightmare…..

Please review your development:

On-suite is wasted space as the master bedroom is more like a box room once the bed is in there etc.
The house was painted in the same type from top to bottom. I.E, the bathroom should be bathroom paint etc.
The garden grass is full of plastic web..

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

That the rent would go up by crazy amounts and most of the folks around here have gone after a year.

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

Not too bad. Jobs get done eventually but in realistic time frames.

The scale of the property is rather too small for the design

The location is very central, with bus access to the town centre and near by villages. Very convenient as there are various shops, gym and petro station just around the corner. The primary is very near and that was our main reason for choosing the house here.

Please review your development:

The design wise is very good and space efficiency. But the scale of the property is rather too small for the design. Our house is a 3 bedroom with 2.5 bathrooms but each room are so tiny that there are not enough space for storage. As the loft space is not permitted and more over there are no garage or outdoor storage. In all it s pace would have been okay for two bedroom for retired couple rather than a family with kids. It’s good for a short time rent to look for another bigger to move into. The management is quite good I would say. But the time frame of 28 days is rather big if you need the problem solving quickly. The rent is a little high for the size given.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

The hard water problem in the house or rather the area. We wish we had known or thought of it before.

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

They would respond in a day or two which is quick. But it seems to take them a while to find the repairman or maintenance in a good respectable time.

Lovely building and design. Poor property management unfortunately.

Review Date Apr 2024

The area is perfect it is the centre of Sheffield and close to everything. Easy location for shopping.

Please review your development:

The facilities are brilliant and the design for the apartments is good.
Property manager is really disappointing unfortunately. We had a leak in our apartment leading to our carpet in the wardrobe being soaked and they refused to take it seriously. Due to her not taking this seriously we had to move out of our original apartment into a new one due to the damp and terrible smell and the carpet and concrete under the carpet being wet.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

The apartments are lovely, the reception staff and brilliant and very helpful. The additional spaces are fun. Property management is poor so if you have troubles make sure these are taken seriously.

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

When we had our problem with water leaking under our carpet from the bathroom this was not taken seriously leading to us needing to move out to a new apartment. We contacted our property manager numerous times and each time she did no listen and gave us a hoover to clean the water up, ignoring the advice given from professionals that the damage was too extensive and the carpet needed replacing.
