Treat your tastebuds on Chiswick High Road

Most of the action centres on Chiswick High Road, a conga-line of cafés, boutiques and eateries. In fact, Chiswick really earns its stripes when it comes to gastronomy. With Italian delicatessens, posh gastropubs and stylish coffee houses all getting in on the act. The village’s piece de resistance, though, is La Trompette, an elegant European bistro that’s bagged a Michelin star for inventive dishes such as honey-glazed duck and pumpkin and grapefruit sorbet.

Chiswick property

Chiswick’s properties and residents are a varied bunch. Families queue up for the spacious Georgian and Edwardian houses, sought-after schools and plentiful parkland, such as lovely Turnham Green, which leads off the main road. Young professionals love it here, too, thanks to its proximity to Central London and luxe riverfront apartments.

Those who want to be near to the hustle and bustle should check out 500 Chiswick High Road, a sleek development from Redrow Homes. These apartments, penthouses and townhouses put you right in the heart of W4. A great choice if you are looking to buy or rent in Chiswick.

Also close by is Berkeley’s Chiswick Gate – a beautifully-done collection of apartments and townhouses, inspired by the architecture of neighbouring Chiswick House and Gardens. Also, rated as one of the best places to live in Chiswick.

In the middle of the development is one of its most redeeming features: landscaped private gardens designed by Macfarlane + Associates. These formal orchard gardens provide a pleasing focal point along with that all-important outdoor space with a play area for kids to enjoy.” – HomeViews Property Pro on Chiswick Gate

Great value for money, particularly give the location

Great range of pubs, restaurants and cafes on chiswick high road which is a 10 minute walk. Chiswick has an abundance of parks and green spaces. I walk through 4 on my lunchtime walk when working from home! Property is within walking distance of both the Richmond and Ealing Broadway district lines, the piccadilly line and the overground, plus buses.

Please review your development:

Never had any notable issues with the development. Property is well maintained and has 2 rooftop terraces with great views. Other residents are friendly and there is a good community vibe. On rare occasions, the hot water has stopped working but this has been fixed promptly after being reported. There is also a lounge area with free WiFi and a smart TV

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

It can get hot in the summer although not unliveable, but equally no heating required in the winter!

What is the best feature of your home:

Proximity to Chiswick High Road which is one of the best high streets in London

The flat is well laid out and very sound proof

Chiswick is a fabulous place to live and the development is close to transport, shops, restaurants and the lovely green space immediately behind in the business park. Unfortunately being so close to the railway lines can be a bit noisy, although thankfully the overground stops overnight.

Please review your development:

The flat is well laid out and very sound proof. I have no issues at all with feeling overlooked or overheard or hearing others and I appreciate the bike storage and shared spaces. There is a good community within the block with a WhatsApp group to ask for help, advice or to share information.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

I wanted a south facing apartment but it gets quite hot on the south/west side (or so I’m told). Very good to have accidentally ended up on the north-east.

What is the best feature of your home:

Wel laid out, well, well insulated (very cheap to heat) and well sound proofed.

Lovely apartments and community – but lacks in management

Great location for transport – lots of options. The immediate area around have great potential for development in terms of shops, cafes and restaurants. That said, the high street is very close by and offers everything needed.

Please review your development:

The development itself is fine – great rooftops, nice apartments, great views.
However the interiors get extremely hot, both inside apartments and corridors. With the commercial spaces downstairs, AC is available and it would have been nice for the apartments to have the same. To privately install AC, without an external box being allowed, requires lengthy approval and it comes a very high cost – not ideal for all owners. As mentioned before, the windows do not fully open for safety reasons which adds this issue.
Property management is below average – unresponsive, short term solutions to any problems in the building which leads to the same issues repeating over and over again (no hot water, main door not properly closing…)

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

Lovely neighbours and great community overall.

What is the best feature of your home:

The apartment layout is good and comfortable. The view is great!!

I love this area. Transport links are amazing and we are in between two fantastic high streets that are really different from each other. It feels really safe and seems like the road itself is on the up.

Please review your development:

The flat is good value and the communal spaces are genuinely used which creates a great community feel. I’be been lucky and not had any issues with the flat but it does seem like corners were cut as We’ve had continuous issues with the doors and corridor windows. The design of the flat is good but there are obvious improvements that could have been made. The floor to ceiling windows made getting curtains/blinds complicated if you still wanted the windows to open. The bathroom is large but has no storage, a mirrored cabinet would have been far more sensible that just a big mirror. The positioning of lights and the intercom system is bizarre. These are fairly minor though.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

Don’t panic buy furniture. Make sure you move in with a bed and a sofa. Get a feel for the place before rushing the rest.

What is the best feature of your home:

Access to the terrace and the community vibe it creates.
