Brentford

West London’s Brentford is a historic county town in Middlesex; within the London Borough of Hounslow and part of Greater London since the Sixties. The town is found where the River Brent and the Thames meet, some eight miles from Charing Cross. An alternative to riverfront hotspots, Brentford has all the appeal of a cosmopolitan waterside hub without a hefty price tag. The aforementioned river duo flows into the Grand Union Canal; lined with historical pubs and cheerful family-run cafes, it’s just the place for weekend strolls. Brentford has a mix of charming period properties – most notably from the Georgian and Victorian eras. In recent years, a multi-billion-pound transformation has welcomed a huge choice of developments to the area, along with new shops, restaurants and an all-new stadium for Brentford FC.

Those seeking a waterfront spot should consider renting at Brentford Lock West, an award-winning collection of one to three-bedroom apartments with a contemporary, industrial look and feel. This development has been rated as one of the best places to live in Brentford. Property giant St James, meanwhile, has catered to residents who want a rural outlook in a central location. Its Kew Bridge West development enjoys a privileged location between the famous Kew Gardens and Syon Park. Also nearby is Gunnersbury Park, a leafy expanse home to listed mansions and the annual Lovebox festival. Residents at Apt Living’s ultra-modern Apt Gunnersbury Park enjoy the best view of this one – this colossal development is home to 292 units. For something more intimate, there’s St JamesHeritage Walk, which features 74 luxury suites.

I really do feel safe in this building. My favourite thing about my apartment is the massive windows – we get a lot of sunshine.” – Anon, verified resident at Brentford Lock West

I like living here, as the flat and the buildings themselves are designed really well, and the placement of the flats is really great, as it’s really convenient for work as it’s so well connected around here.” – Bazbantom, private tenant at Brentford Lock West

The development is very spacious. Nice place to walk around and admire the greenery. The property is nice and family friendly, schools are also nearby which is great for couples with children. Petrol station which is literally great for people with cars.” – Anonymous, private tenant at Kew Bridge West

Shops are great, very local, transport is also very good. No noice complaints, bins are regularly removed

Please review your development:

The garage should be automatic preferably reading of the plate, there should be no visuals of the bike storage unfortunately there is. There is a whole garage next to us which is EMPTY, disgraceful use of space. The employees are very friendly and make your day!

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

I would have liked to know that the bike storage would be visible for the public to peak in.

What is the best feature of your home:

The views, we get to watch football games for free !

Good but could be great

There are great transport links. A lot of great restaurants and bars that are 20/30 minutes walk but would be good to have some closer. Same with supermarkets.

Please review your development:

Great location and lovely energy in the neighbourhood. The flats have good noise control and retain heat very well, would be good if we could have had more input into the design of the kitchen and had the opportunity to have AC installed. The parking space has been very tightly put together, it is okay now but when the car park is full I imagine it will be annoying to get in and out of.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

The views from flat and how nice it looks when the sun is shining. The bad would be not being able to open the internal door without going downstairs

What is the best feature of your home:

The views of the stadium! Inside the home I think the heat retention is great and the big windows are amazing to let sun inside.

Everything is good. Good access to Hammersmith and Richmond via bus and train. Kew gardens, Thames and …
I like it.
I hope there will be more grocery stores nearby soon. There’s only one sainsbury’s.

Please review your development:

The development service is good. The only problem is they didn’t tell me that Lily house does not have concierge. We have some problems here regarding the security and post services.
If they could put a concierge table for this building and someone for even a couple of hours, it could increase the security.
We also do not have a bin for compost.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

I didn’t know Lily house doesn’t have the concierge. Sometimes I feel unsafe. I wish the corridors had CCTV camera .

What is the best feature of your home:

It is nice and cosy. Energy efficiency is good. It is the middle of November and I haven’t turned on the heater yet. The quality of cabinet are good. All together it is very nice one bed flat.

Pretty good place to live.

The development feels safe, and is quite convenient a location: there’s a mini Sainsbury’s, a small resident’s gym, and a coffee shop on site, you’re within 15-20 minute’s walk of a big supermarket, and 5 minute’s walk of a big park. Transport wise, the train station and Piccadilly line are within walking distance, and there are buses that go right by. The only negative is the highway – it’s very noisy, even late at night.

Please review your development:

The apartments are modern and pretty spacious. Most have balconies. The one I lived in was also really well insulated, so it was super quiet inside with the windows shut, and kept the heat really well in winter. The estate service charges are really quite high, but at least the communal hot water is really cheap, so combined with the insulation means heating the flat cost next to nothing.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

It’s hard to find the various buildings on google maps – prepare to offer detailed directions to every delivery driver.

What is the best feature of your home:

Insulation. The double glazing is excellent quality, and keeps out the noise from the elevated highway.
