Newfoundland is a new addition to Canary Wharf’s celebrated skyline. The development comprises of 636 apartments arranged over a 58-storey tower. Full-height windows wrap around each apartment’s living space, maximising views across the capital. Residents can choose an east-facing aspect looking out over Canary Wharf, or turn west for views of the Thames and the City. In addition, Newfoundland provides residents with exclusive access to private resident amenities including a gym, lounge, terrace and children’s play area.

The highly-anticipated Newfoundland Tower is the first offering in a new wave of residential development, in a prime location in London’s renowned Canary Wharf. It’s been dubbed “The Diamond Tower”, thanks to its slim, ‘diagrid’ aesthetics – the creation of esteemed Mayfair architects, Horden Cherry Lee. And HCL’s innovative approach to the structure’s design and engineering means it’s not just a pretty face. It’s been built to resist 90% of wind pressures, so its height and weight are 30% more efficient than a traditionally similar form. You’ll recognise its transparent, diamond-studded façade from another iconic London skyscraper – The Gherkin.

Once complete, Newfoundland will reach its peak at 225 metres. Residents of the 60-storey tower will benefit from unparalleled views of the city, with units featuring 11-foot floor-to-ceiling windows. Covering almost 721,000 square feet, the development will comprise of 636 high-spec and contemporary studio, one, two and three-bedroom apartments.

Newfoundland is situated on the waterfront at the western end of West India Middle Dock. It’s flanked by Westferry road to the west and Bank Street to the south, so there’s cafés, eateries, and shops within easy walking distance, along with Canary Wharf Undergound Station. The project is expected to be completed by winter 2020/21. The new Canary Wharf Crossrail Station will put commuters within 40 minutes of Heathrow Airport, just six minutes from Liverpool Street and eight minutes from Farringdon. And, contrary to popular belief, the area Isn’t totally devoid of green space, which come courtesy of landscaped creations like Cartier Circle, Canada Square, Jubliee and Westferry Circus Parks.

In summary, while the 97-acre Canary Wharf Estate has long been a playground for office professionals, this new wave of development will transform the area’s reputation as such, paving the way for luxurious living spaces for all.
