Newfoundland is a new addition to Canary Wharf’s celebrated skyline. The development comprises of 636 apartments arranged over a 58-storey tower. Full-height windows wrap around each apartment’s living space, maximising views across the capital. Residents can choose an east-facing aspect looking out over Canary Wharf, or turn west for views of the Thames and the City. It’s not cheap, but you get what you pay for. The apartments are beautifully designed and we must have one of the best views in London overlooking the City, North and East London along with Canary wharf itself. The communal areas are also very handy for work and the outside terrace is great.

So conveniently placed for the tube, DLR and even the uber boats which are a great way to get to get to the South Bank

I think the community aspect of the building is very different to other residential buildings.

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

Yes we had an issue with the heating that was resolved straight away

This building is wonderful in terms of architecture and design – a true landmark. The views of Central London from the higher west side units are stunning. Facilities are very good although there is no onsite parking whatsoever and no swimming pool. The best thing about living at 1 Newfoundland Place is the concierge service. All of the staff are so personable, professional, and attentive to residents’ needs that it feels like you are living in a much more expensive ultra-luxury development. You can pay as little as £2000-something monthly rent and get treated like you’re a billionaire. It’s a delightful lifestyle.

Canary Wharf offers a great deal in terms of shopping and dining and it is very clean and safe. The transport links are impressive, too.

Food delivery apps and other service providers cannot easily locate new buildings.

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

There are inevitably lots of minor snagging issues with a brand-new building, but all my concerns have been addressed promptly and with courtesy.

The development is great, I love the facilities they are great and there is great care from the stuff which is just amazing. The app is great, the care that is put into creating mostly free events for guests is amazing and the move in has been very smooth

The range of shops is great, the only thing about location is that canary wharf feels more like a shopping mall than an area in london, but at the same time everything is build very convenient.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

I think there isn’t any good or bad I wish I would have known, maybe the fact that elevators are so fast that my ear pop every time.

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

I have already reported a maintenance issue upon moving in, and it got resolved within a day, to my convenient hour.

Newfoundland has really nice gym. Club vertus is where my wife spend most of her time. working spaces made remote working easy and convenient for us. Coffee and wine machines are a nice add on. The team at newfoundland is very friendly and they organize some fun events like wine wednesday. All in all its a perfect home for us.

Best restaurants are very close. Six by Nico, Roka, Sticks and Sushi are some of my favorite restaurants near newfoundland. Underground transportation and Uber boats are a few mins walk from the property. So many grocery stores near by.

They should advertise more about the events they organize. It makes it easy for the prospective tenants to make a decision.

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

Vertus team is very responsive. They are always there for us. I am happy with their service.

Very nice interior finishes, great gym and good views across London. Living near the water is incredibly relaxing too. There are lots of events and opportunities to hire out the kitchen if required. I have also heard that there is going to be a restaurant opening beneath the building which will be a positive too!

Great waterside apartments and lots of amenities around you so don’t ever have to leave!

The luxury of living in Canary Wharf

The design of the building has been created with a highest level of professionalism where the first look at the apartments create a sense of belonging and exceptional feeling of luxury.

The busking is based in the centre of Canary Wharf where the resident is able to access all the facilities with a minute walk.

Being a coffee lover crates a greats advantage from the building as the coffee and wine machine are placed on the second floor with an amazing view.

The Newfoundland shows an exceptional hospitality level with luxury elements where no bad aspects have occurred.

The team are so customer focused I just never expected it. The concierge team are always on hand and very helpful. The design is high-end and furnishings are really contemporary and neutral. This is like serviced apartment living – long term!

I would suggest more frequent cleaning of communal areas of each floor ie outside the lifts in the hallway (mopping) and hallways (vacuuming) and the bin refuse area. At least weekly but now seems to happen once a month.

Communal facilities – lounge, gym and private dining area and so beautiful I just hope residents and management will ensure it’s upkeep. It feel so personal, like an extension of your apartment!

Look forward to seeing the outside area open up for weekend lounging.

I just wish there would be a bit more weekend activities on offer – too busy during the week to make wine Wednesday and the like.

Very high on the list for is recycling and they provide bags for waste and recycling etc. That’s important for such a big development.

The location is excellent (Am City based for work) and the commute couldn’t be easier. Canary Wharf is like Singapore squeezed into London – love it! Everything you need from groceries to high end boutiques and salons is on your doorstep and some of the finest restaurants and cafes too. Highly recommended. It’s also very peaceful but still buzzing with activities. Super safe too.

The “green” credentials and Vertus community efforts. The E and S in ESG.

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

Extremely quick except I’ve had some decorative issues in the apartment and they’ve not been dealt with as quickly as I’d like and they outsource utility billing which is yet to be set up for me.

I do through wish that they’d fix the bin shoots and/ or empty them more often. I don’t think they appreciate with so many tenants they need to be emptied more frequently. They don’t work half the time I’ve tried to throw refuse away.

As I lay on the communal terrace soaking in the sun, the panoramic views of London and The Thames, I thought to myself how lucky can one person be? I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my time as one of Newfoundland’s 1st residents. Not only is the building striking and the apartment furnished to a very high standard, the facilities are perfect. They are more than just aesthetically pleasing, they are built for purpose. The gym is perfect (although once the occupancy rate increases, I fear it will be very busy at times), the lounge area is exactly what you would look for and segmented in a way where you won’t be interfering with other residents having guests round. The one thing I am truly looking forward to is having a party on New Years Eve overlooking London and getting to enjoy the fireworks from arguably the best view of London.

When I said to a few people I was moving here, it was met with the same perplexed look: why would you move to Canary Wharf, there’s not much there. They couldn’t be more wrong. Ive thoroughly enjoyed living here so far…reminds me a little of Dubai – everything is new and clean, every amenity you could possibly need is on your doorstep and the food and drink scene just seems to be getting better and better. Regarding connectivity to the rest of the city, The Jubilee line has been voted the best underground line in the city (20mins to Bond Street anyone?) and I recently took a 12minute taxi ride to City Airport…genuinely, I can’t think of any area remotely like this that is that well connected.

That the pool/spa area on one of the middle floors is no longer being developed as per the original publications. This is a bit of a gutter.

The build design is second to none

The build design is second to none even the pinnacle has to look up to it even though it’s taller by a few floors

Facilities are great and will be even more once the restaurant is complete
The building management could do with a traffic light system to prioritise work load as well as the property management as there are simple issue for the windows to be cleaned before the tenant start their tenancy as bad weather delays the cleaning due to safety.

The good and bad aspect of the area would be due to affluent area meets council estates there usually is some tension as there have been violent knife crimes on the wharf few months back at west India quay thankfully the victim is alive and the injuries were not fatal.

There are a range of quality shops and bars but not as good as the west end but the bars and restaurants are good.

The transportation links are very good with the jubilee line for the tube and also the DLR service from south London to bank or tower gate way which is very convenient but also the new Queen Elizabeth line and not to forget the Uber Boats that goes to Greenwich or Westminster up along the Thames along the scenic route.

The street I live is on the quiet side but you have people walking along the water to West ferry Circus and underground car parking is available there or under Cabot square or Canada square. The parking has improved near the loading bay for disabled residents with 2 new bays included.

Bins collection is very good the noise can be a little as there is a fire station on Manchester Road and they usually use the sirens when they leave and the antisocial behaviour is concerning when you have incidents as I mentioned before.

If the remote for the screen room was to be only managed by the concierge staff after taking up residence when the estate agents are not updated whilst they show potential clients about this

Initially fast and reasonable time but due to over stretching other times a little slower than one would like

Newfoundland place

The rooms are really spacious with high ceilings and great kitchens/bathrooms. The views from every room are obviously great and the rooms do not overheat in the sun. The concierges are super helpful and the gym and lounge are very nice. 2 min walk to the tube, dlr and Thames clipper and the nearest car park. Extraordinarily convenient.

Canary Wharf has bars, restaurants, cinemas and gyms and shops (massive Waitrose)… and great transport links. The flats are quiet at night with the windows open.

How good the Thames clipper is and it’s just next door!

They fixed a broken plug and internet issues within a day of us contacting them.
