The design of the building is fresh, quirky and homely. The shared space on the ground floor is comfortable to work in, hang out and meet friends. I haven’t had much experience with the garden terraces but hope to access this perk in warmer weather. The lifts are fast and building access is easy and convenient. I have had great interactions with the buildings maintenance and reception team, always helpful and friendly. And the communal areas are kept clean and tidy.

Beautiful design which stands out when compared to other developments in Brighton and Hove. Property management and building management are great with 24/7 support that is useful when travelling in early in the morning. Communications are timely from building management and there are a number of social events to build a sense of community amongst residents.

The flats are in a good area, reasonably sized and good access to communal facilities. The real stars are front of house staff, lovely and extremely helpful. Anat has been a diamond the whole time. Unfortunately other teams/managers are less responsive/quite unhelpful and there have been times that urgent or important requests or concerns have been raised and not responded to/resolved for some time.

We moved in when the building was brand new and looked amazing, but unfortunately, it's already starting to show signs of wear. Many of the communal areas could really use a deep clean, the post room access screen doesn't work, and the intercom was only just fixed after being out of service for a year. There's also an ongoing bird poo problem in the stairwell, which is pretty unpleasant. The car park costs £250 a month, the bin chutes are often blocked, and the downstairs bins are frequently overflowing, leaving a bad smell. You can have pets here, which is great, but some residents are frustrated by the constant barking from dogs, which has been an issue. For some reason, the developers thought it was a good idea to plant horse chestnut trees on the 10th-floor terrace, which will eventually become massive and start dropping conkers everywhere! There are also allotments, but they’re all taken, and there’s a long waiting list for new residents. The highlight of York & Elder is definitely the community. The other residents are wonderful, and the front-of-house team, especially Anat and Jamie, go above and beyond to make the place feel welcoming. The gym is also nice, and the terraces are usually quiet, which is a plus. We're paying £2.5k a month for a two-bedroom flat, but honestly, I’m not sure it’s worth it.

The building is designed well, with lots of great facilities such as communal work spaces, a cinema room, roof gardens, dining room and a gym. The lifts are really fast and spacious, and the building itself is very secure with keycard access throughout. The building itself is maintained well, and any issues are resolved reasonably quick once the management team is made aware.
