Canning Town is much more than just a flyover

Review Date May 2018

Linkcity in conjunction with the London Borough of Newham present Hallsville Quarter, a new development in East London’s Canning Town. It forms part of the GBP3.7billion regeneration project that’s taking place in that area of the capital, which will result in an exciting and thriving new quarter. Hallsville Quarter will not only create a mixed-used community with shops and leisure activities, it will also provide 1,100 new residential properties and affordable housing. There’s also a shared landscape garden for residents to enjoy, which is especially handy for families looking for outdoor space close to their homes. The price per square foot for this development is around GBP644, just slightly over the average for the E16 postcode of GBP554.

This part of London is going from strength to strength in terms of work opportunities, entertainment options and great transport connections. Hallsville Quarter is directly opposite Canning Town Underground station, where you can hop on the Jubilee Line or DLR and be at Canary Wharf in 4 minutes, London Bridge in 10 minutes, The City in 15 minutes, and King’s Cross in under 30 minutes. For international travellers, the commute to London City Airport takes just 6 minutes. When Crossrail is introduced later this year, travel times will be reduced even more, making Canning Town an appealing option for those working in Central and East London in particular. Ever since the Olympic boom in 2012, East London has developed its infrastructure and redevelopment projects tenfold. With the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, Westfield Stratford City, the O2, Canary Wharf – to name but a few of the highlights – this area is becoming a sought-after destination to put down roots, from young professionals and growing families. Along with the business districts and cultural attractions, there are also several parks, green spaces and riverside walks when you need a break from hectic London life.

Hallsville Quarter has a line-up of impressive facilities for residents to enjoy. These include a 24-hour concierge, gym and top-floor sky garden from which you can take in the city’s skyline. When the development is completed, there will also be a cinema, Ibis hotel, supermarket, health centre and a number of cafes, bars and restaurants where you can socialise and feel part of the community. The high street with 15 new retail and restaurant units will become the central focus of the town, with pedestrian and cycle paths integrated into the masterplan. For car owners, there is also underground car parking available. As for the apartments themselves, the interiors are sleek and contemporary with plenty of room for a personal touch. Kitchens include integrated AEG/Electrolux appliances such as fridge freezer, dishwasher and washer dryer, soft-closing units with brushed stainless steel handles, laminate worktops and downlighters. In the bathrooms you can expect to find white sanitaryware with chrome basin and shower fittings, large format wall tiling, heated towel rail and a back-to-wall WC with soft close seat. Throughout the rest of the apartment, there’s laminate wood effect flooring in the living areas, carpet in the bedrooms and ceramic floor tiling in the bathrooms and ensuites.

Buyers should also consider Royal Victoria Residence and Royal Wharf in this area.
