Safe building with awesome views

I’ve actually lived here for fours years so obviously I really love Halo! The neighbours are so friendly and so are the concierge, so I feel so very comfortable here. The concierge are also really helpful and are the first people I go to if I have a problem in my flat. The building has cool facilities including a gym. It also have a secure place to store motorbikes which is really important for us.
The whole clean and modern design of the development runs into the flat as well and everything looks very slick. The best thing is without a doubt the views- seeing the Olympic Park everyday is very special.

Please tell us what you like and dislike about this area:

The shopping centre is great and it’s very cool to have the Olympic park so close. I find this area safe and easy to get around because the transport is pretty good around here.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

I knew the flat didn’t come with a balcony but I wish it did! That would be awesome (or at least wish it had air-conditioning).

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

Of course after 4 years her we’ve had a few small issues, but the management team are fairly efficient and normally really quick to solve anything.

Great views of Olympic Park

I really like the apartment – it’s good quality and pretty spacious. There are a few design flaws though- for example there are radiators on all available wall space which doesn’t leave room for any bookshelves or storage. Lack of storage is a bit of an issue. There is also no air con which isn’t great when it’s really hot. I would recommend getting an apartment on the side of the building facing the Olympic park. The windows are ceiling to floor and there is lots of natural light. The residence is very secure and safe and it is not noisy despite the proximity to the road. (We are on the opposite side of the building though so this may well be a factor).

Please tell us what you like and dislike about this area:

I really like the proximity to Olympic Park

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

Wish I had known that the car park would change hands – it’s now a private NCP car park and we were fined when accidentally forgetting to put our permit on display. Make sure you pay fully and put your permit on display!

Modern building with great facilities

This place is easily accessible and is modern. The gym is great and the 24 hour concierge is really handy, and they’re all very friendly. They handle post and deliveries and are always the first line of contact when there are any problems.

Regarding my flat, it came furnished to a great standard, and we were able to move a few pieces of furniture around so suit out needs. There are of windows which obviously offer great views but this also means it gets very hot in the summer since there is no AC. On the plus side, the insulation is great, so we don’t really use the heating in the winter, so this means cheaper bills!

One bad point is definitely the very noise if the road traffic.

Please tell us what you like and dislike about this area:

I love being close to the Olympic lark. There are always new developments popping up around the area which I like, because it means more amenities will also come to the area. At the moment, I travel to central London for socialising and activities. i think there are more restaurants and bars around near the Park and on the East Side but that’s lacking slightly around here. The existing transport links are pretty good, there are lots of trains and buses to chose from, so it’s easy to get into Central London.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

There is really nothing that I can wish I’d known.

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

The concierge are actually more helpful than the management team.
Management are slow with contact. For example when as it gets colder, the hot water becomes slow meet and this affects the whole tower. There were lots of complaints and eventually they sorted it.

Great value apartment

I really like the apartment – it’s really modern, spacious and a nice open-plan design. Everything works well and if there is a problem the concierge comes up immediately to try and fix it. The building is also currently being refurbished which is great. The building maintenance is really good. There is a concierge 24/7 and security on the building is good. It’s not noisy at all but I think it helps that we’re high up. A downside of being high up is that we can’t have the windows open all the way so it can get very hot. Overall I would recommend it as a place to live – it’s a nice area and the apartment is great value for what you get.

Please tell us what you like and dislike about this area:

I like that Westfield is so close but I don’t like the other side of Westfield – towards Maryland, it’s pretty underdeveloped and a bit dangerous.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

Living on a high floor – it can take a while for the lift to come.

Great location and development

Review Date Jul 2019

We chose this development because we needed a flat that was close to East London (I work in Goodmayes, my partner in Becontree) but also wanted to be close to central London, so Stratford was the best area. Looking at properties around Stratford, Halo was the best value for the nicest quality e.g. it was smart, modern and had lots of facilities like washer/dryer and dishwasher.

We enjoy working with a professional rental landlord like Folio as they are completely electronic which was incredibly helpful as we both work shift patterns, so we were able to read through the contracts and sign the documents in our own time. They hired an efficient referencing company which was also online and easy to use/contactable. We were very impressed with Folio as they had the apartment deep cleaned and repainted before we moved in they arranged and paid for an incredibly comprehensive inventory check which was of benefit to both parties. They also were very flexible with regards to furniture and in fact, fully furnished the apartment, and then were happy to remove items that we already had. They always responded to our emails/calls, so we didn’t have to spend time chasing them. It was clear from dealing with them, that they were a trustworthy company and were not trying to insert hidden charges/shy away from repairs.

In regard to the management of the flat, the 24/7 concierge are incredibly helpful. They accept our packages, which again is very helpful as we are not always present/awake during 9-5pm. They are able to coordinate services for us e.g. fixing hot water.

My flat itself is modern with clean grey and white neutral tones in a very sleek design. My favourite room in my apartment is our living room – it’s amazing! It is open plan with the kitchen, and in that space, there are 4 light switches so you can manipulate the lighting as you need it. There is plenty of space for sofa sets, TV, computer and desk, dining room table with 4 chairs and then the kitchen space. The best part is of course the view of the London skyline and the amazing sunsets. In terms of noise, if the windows are closed it’s very quiet. Unfortunately though there is no air con and it can get very hot so we have to open the windows and then it gets more noisy.

My favourite facility at the development is the residents’ gym. It is great with exercise machines and weight machines (although no free weights). There is a “yoga/relaxation” room, as well as an “activities/TV/pool table” room. I also enjoy the garden at the bottom of the flats, there are interactive games as well as beautiful flowerbeds.

The flats at the development are quite separate, so it’s harder to have a community feel here. However, at Christmas and in Summer there is a social in the foyer. I joined after this so was unable to join the summer ball but will join the Christmas event.

Please tell us what you like and dislike about this area:

We would definitely recommend Stratford as a place to live – there are lots of shops and restaurants. I like how convenient it is – the shops and tube are really close. My favourite thing about living in the area are the really convenient transport links for work as the TFL, DLR, tube and trains are all in less than a 10-minute walk away, with buses right outside the flat. Plus with Westfields and Olympic stadium present, lots of things to do when guests come over. Westfields has lots of different restaurants and bars with particular highlights as Roof East Ba in Stratford Centre and Rosa’s thai café, which are both lovely. I’m not sure about schools nearby but the GP is a 5-minute walk away and the dentist is also within 10-minutes. There are lots of health/beauty shops at Westfields as well as hairdressers. However, I do dislike that it can look a bit run down in some places in the area.

Accessible location

I like the apartment – the spec is all good especially the bathroom. It’s also very spacious for a one-bed apartment. On the downside we don’t have a very clear view outside from our apartment so this is definitely something to check before you move in. The concierge is good and there is good security on the building. There is also a gym in the building.

Please tell us what you like and dislike about this area:

I like that it’s very accessible – there are restaurants, supermarkets and a park really nearby. I dislike that there are sometimes people smoking weed outside.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

That the view from some apartments isn’t as good. I would also recommend that people do the inventory themselves (the company provide one but a good idea to check yourself). It would also have been good to have a tour of the apartment before we moved in.

It’s good

Review Date Oct 2019

Halo is really modern and clean and I love living here. It’s great that it has a gym and I try to use this as much as possible. You can pay a daily rate for parking, which is fine, and it also has very secure bike storage. The concierge are friendly and attentive, and for me, it’s a great benefit to have them there as it makes me feel more safe in the area. The management team are a bit slow to respond to emails, but once they get back in contact, the issue gets fixed quickly.

Please tell us what you like and dislike about this area:

I like that the Westfield shopping centre is close and the area also has good transport with different underground and railway links.
However it’s not very safe around and there isn’t no a huge sense of community due to the lack of amenities such as pubs and restaurants.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

I can’t think of anything. It was all pretty clear before I moved in and has been as expected since then.

If there is one thing you would change about your flat or property what would it be:

The flat can get got very hot in the summer because of all the glass. I would love to have air-con.

Definitely recommend!

The apartment is good quality, nicely designed and spacious. It does get a bit hot in the summer though as it’s all glass. On the upside the views are really great (we are on the side overlooking the Olympic Park). The security on the building is good and the concierge is always friendly. Visitor parking is always available. There is a free gym, lounge and communal outdoor space included. It’s also a great place to live in terms of connectivity.

Please tell us what you like and dislike about this area:

I really like how close it is to the Olympic Park. I dislike that there’s a lot of building work – it’s temporary but can be inconvenient.

Great concierge service

Verified Resident
Verified Resident
Review Date Oct 2019

The development is fine and has everything I need. The gym is pretty good, and the concierge are really great. They’re helpful and it’s good to know our post is always deliveries to them when I’m out working. My flat is pretty decent, it has all the appliances such as a dishwasher and machine and it’s all nice and modern. It’s a good size as well. However my current flat is on the road side of the development and is therefore very loud unfortunately.

Please tell us what you like and dislike about this area:

I don’t like Stratford very much, it doesn’t have a great atmosphere. There aren’t really any great shops very close to Halo, only the Tesco express. The station is a bit far so now I mostly cycle around here because the bus is slow. If you do want a bus, the stop is just outside the development which I guess is handy.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

That the transport and the buses in particular are so bad.

What is the best feature of your home:

I really like having an en-suite, it makes a difference when you’re sharing a flat.

Unbeatable views

Review Date Oct 2019

The best thing about the development is definitely the facilities. I use the gym a lot and it’s always kept clean. There is also a great communal area on each floor. The services offered are good as well, such as the 24 hour concierge team who are always helpful. l love my flat- it’s a good size and nicely furnished.

Please tell us what you like and dislike about this area:

I really like being close to the Shopping Mall and Stratford station. The local area has plenty of amenities which are all close and easy.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

There’s actually nothing I can think of that I wished I knew before.

What is the best feature of your home:

Without a doubt it’s the views. I love that they are uninterrupted and there are no other big buildings in the way, or blocking the views.
