Review for Mercer West

Mercer West & Madison East, LS2

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

The area is quite central and convenient, with easy access to shops, restaurants, and public transport links. It is generally well connected and makes daily life practical. However, there is significant ongoing construction nearby, which creates constant noise from early morning and generates a lot of dust. This can make it difficult to work from home or enjoy a quiet environment. Parking availability is also limited, and the process for securing a space can be unclear. Overall, while the location is convenient, the construction and noise levels are major downsides.

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

When you have a problem in your home, you are put on a waiting list by the management, and you are informed late about when the problem will be resolved.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

I moved in 3-4 months before construction started, which reveals that the site management was aware of the construction when I moved in and did not inform the tenants.

A Peaceful, Well-Managed Home in Preston Park

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

Brighton Preston Park is a great area to live in. There are plenty of shops, restaurants, and fuel stations nearby, and public transport is very convenient with frequent buses just across the road. The street is peaceful with low traffic noise, no anti-social behaviour, and reliable bin collections. Parking is generally available, though council restrictions can make it a bit tricky. Overall, it’s a clean, safe, and pleasant place to call home.

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

Whenever I’ve raised any issues, the building management has been friendly, responsive, and quick to resolve them, which makes living here really worry-free.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

I wish I had known that parking is £150 per month rather than per year, as that was a surprise. I’d also recommend taking part in the apartment’s social events—they’re a great way to meet neighbours and discover new interests you might enjoy.

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

Pomona Wharf is in a really convenient spot and is close to the city centre but a bit quieter. Cornbrook tram stop is just a short walk away, so getting around Manchester is easy. You’ve got plenty of bars, restaurants and shops nearby in Castlefield and Deansgate, plus nice canal walks. The area itself is generally calm with not much anti-social behaviour. Parking can be a bit tight at times, but manageable. Overall, it’s a good mix of peaceful living and city access.

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

Management have been responsive and easy to deal with. Any issues raised are usually picked up quickly and there’s clear communication throughout, so you’re not left chasing for updates. Repairs are handled in a reasonable timeframe and the team are approachable and helpful, which makes a big difference.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

Parking can get busy at times, so it’s worth sorting a space early if you need one. Also, parcel lockers are really useful but can fill up quickly, so it’s good to keep an eye on deliveries. On the plus side, the area is quieter than you might expect for how close it is to the city, and the tram links make getting around really easy.

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

It’s directly opposite Preston park which is brilliant. The park itself has 2 coffee shops, and there are loads of other coffee shops and restaurants in walking distance. There’s also a Sainsbury’s a 10 minute walk away and a pets corner too. On the down side, you are on a busy-ish road so that can be a bit loud in the summer. Also, for any large events in the park, the roads can sometimes be closed off so driving in and out can be a hassle. There’s not much parking available in the local area, so visitors will have to be creative.

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

Any maintainer issues I’ve raised have been handled well without issues. Jack and his team put in a lot of work to help with any issues in the building and he’s always really willing to help. I’ve had no issues with the management team and found them helpful when I’ve needed them.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

- 5G is none existent here, so you fully rely on WiFi. - It gets cold in winter here and the in-built radiators provide the same heat as a tea light candle. - It’s very dog friendly, which is great for us but might not be for you if you’re nervous around dogs. - All the in-built appliances are great.

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

Having moved from dead centre of town, I'm massively happier at this location. There's a variety of parking spots in the area, very low foot traffic and the sound insulation means we don't hear any outside noise. You're 5 minutes from London road and 10-15 from the centre. There's multiple bus stops outside the building and with 2 train stations 5-10 minutes away, travel is kept really simple, so everything is within walking distance!

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

We've rarely had any issues within our flat but the moment I've raised it with the FOH team, I've had contact with the maintenance team same day.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

I'm not much of an outside person, but I highly recommend making use of the terraces. Not only are the views amazing, but you're secluded and able to enjoy your time.
