Drayton Green: Community Spirit Present, Genuine Tenant Engagement, But Maintenance Needs Urgent Improvement

Evelyn P (Tenant)

Dec 2025

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

Drayton Green has convenient transport links and nearby shops, with open spaces like Drayton Green Park adding value. However, recycling bins often overflow, common areas can remain littered, and streetlights have been out for a long time. Parking is limited, staff responses are slow, and repairs sometimes take too long or are done to a poor standard. Management does make efforts to engage tenants, and Shannon’s outreach is appreciated, but overall maintenance and responsiveness need improvement.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

I wish I had known how often recycling bins overflow, how long common areas stay littered, and how difficult it can be to reach officers and management—but I also value that Shannon and the team genuinely seek tenant feedback.

What is the best feature of your home:

The best feature of my home is its peaceful setting and proximity to green spaces, which provide a sense of calm and sanctuary. The layout is functional, and the location offers reasonably convenient access to transport links and nearby shops.

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

Great location. Access to tubes and buses and a wide variety of food. There is of course a large Portuguese community but, almost any other type of food you would like is available. Bin collection is excellent, as is the collection of other household items. There a Sainsbury's superstore at Nine Elms, and many other local shops.

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

Extremely poorly.I have sent countless emails over many years without any remedy.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

Many years ago it was a very undesirable area to live in.

What is the best feature of your home:

Strong structure and well built. The thick walls give good p4ivacy of sound.

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

We are experiencing significant issues with parking fines relating to our deliveries, grocery drop-offs, our own attempts to bring groceries into the property, our personal vehicles, and those of our guests. The current 10-minute allowance is insufficient for safely dropping off family members, including young children—particularly in rainy or cold weather when buggies and additional equipment are required. It is also inadequate for completing grocery or parcel deliveries, especially given that the surrounding roads are poorly marked and there is inadequate signage directing drivers to Herdwick Court. As a result, many individuals spend excessive time attempting to locate the address. Delivery drivers frequently cancel orders due to these conditions, and several have contacted us regarding parking fines incurred while attempting to complete a delivery. In light of these ongoing issues, we request that the minimum parking allowance be extended to at least 30 minutes, and that on weekends residents and their visitors be permitted a minimum of 2 hours, to ensure safe access and prevent further unreasonable penalties.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

Parking issue managment not helping on getting the parking and there should be atleast 30 minutes allowance for the residents.

What is the best feature of your home:

Spacious and quality appliances. Balcony is also good.

Neglectful Management and Unresolved Safety Issues

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

The local area itself isn’t the main issue it’s everything NHG fails to manage around it. Shops and transport links are fine, but the street and surrounding environment suffer because NHG don’t stay on top of anything. Bin collections are inconsistent, rubbish piles up, and there’s a constant feeling that no one is responsible for keeping the place safe, clean, or monitored. Parking is chaotic, anti-social behaviour goes unchecked, and residents are left dealing with problems that should have been prevented if NHG actually managed the neighbourhood properly. The area could be decent, but NHG’s poor oversight drags everything down.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

I wish I had known how impossible it is to get NHG to actually respond to anything. They tell you someone will contact you, but no one ever does. You end up chasing them for weeks, sometimes months, and still get ignored. On top of that, there were property damages already there when moving in things they promised would be fixed and they’re still sitting exactly the same, completely untouched(8 years later). If I had known how unresponsive and unreliable NHG were, I never would have agreed to move in.

What is the best feature of your home:

The only real “best feature” is the potential the flat could have if NHG actually maintained it. The layout and size are decent, but that’s overshadowed by the constant issues they refuse to address. The home could be comfortable, but unfortunately any good point gets buried under the neglect and lack of proper management.

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

Very good and quiet area, grocery shops are not very far. Walking distance to the tube and bus station.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

That the sales agent are not very experienced and they would cause major issues in the sales.

What is the best feature of your home:

The flat is warm, modern, full of accessories and has a big balcony.
