Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

Scotmid right in doorstep, 5 minute walk to Haymarket, 10 momite walk to big supermarkets. Bus stops right outside so great transport links. A quiet place to live but really close to everything you need.

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

I havent had any issues but I regularly see the team in the building so confident they would respond well if I needed anything.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

How the design of the apartment just works! Everything is where it should be.

Manager response

Hi Loulou Thank you for your lovely review, I'm really pleased to hear that you love The McEwan as much as we do. Louise

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

The area is in the centre of town only a 10 minute walk to Haymarket and a 20 minute walk to Princes street!

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

We have honestly not had any issues with maintenance just now, but there was a hot water issue and fixed very quickly.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

I wish I had known how easy it was to use transport to get around.

Manager response

Hi Olivia Thank you for your lovely review, its great to hear that the team are looking after you. I love our little playroom too, its one of my favourite spaces in the building.

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

I really enjoy living in the area, it is close to the centre but not so close that it is busy. I am close to convenience stores and pubs and generally it is really easy to get around.

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

Generally, they are fast to respond now. There was a switch over in team which resulted in some bumps, but they have always aimed to be the most attentive. All issues have been overcome.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

I wish I knew that I did not need a car living so central to everything!

Manager response

Hi Marta Thank you for your lovely review, we're pleased to hear that you are settling in to The McEwan & using our great amenity spaces.

New management cut costs; serious issues go unresolved

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

Close to haymarket for transport links and short walk to city centre. Close to canal and bruntsfield links

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

Moamen, deputy site management, is the one person who manages to get anything done it seems. My experience with the other day staff has largely been that raising a concern with them is like throwing a letter into the wind. Maybe they've logged your issue but it doesn't seem like they'll ever get round to addressing it.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

The amenities are enjoyable, and the flats are decent until they aren't. Floor tiles in various units and hallways have exploded, the bin rooms have had sewage backed up into them, and bikes and parcels are regularly stolen from storage.

Manager response

84 Day to Install a Properly Working Fridge (Tenant)

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

Liked living in the hustle and bustle yet far enough away from it all to enjoy the quiet of the outskirts

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

As previously mentioned, it took 84 days for my fridge to be properly installed into a brand new flat. Additionally, the balcony crew was working on my deck for over a week and leaving stains on my toilet while I was not in residence. After emailing the front desk about their intended departure, I was told that there was no knowledge of anyone working on my apartment or who might be working in my residence. I found the lack of security frightening

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

I wish I had not moved into this apartment building

Manager response

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We are truly sorry to hear about the issues you encountered after moving into your apartment, particularly the delay in resolving the fridge installation. This is not the standard of service we aim to provide, and we understand how frustrating and disruptive this must have been. We also sincerely apologise for the concerns regarding communication and the lack of clarity around contractors accessing your apartment. We take resident safety and security extremely seriously and it is concerning to hear that this was not handled appropriately in your case. Your feedback has been shared with our management and maintenance dept to ensure we learn from these shortcomings and improve both our response times and internal communication processes. We are actively reviewing our procedures around contractor access and resident notifications to prevent situations like this from happening again.
