Areas to consider in Edinburgh

Edinburgh has many different areas that are worth considering when choosing where to live, including:

The City Centre – always a good option because there are plenty of shops and restaurants to choose from as well as easy access to public transport links.

Leith – has properties with a lot of character, excellent travel links to the rest of Edinburgh and is an up-and-coming area to look out for. Leith is also famous for its fantastic marina and being a hub for Edinburgh’s nightlife.

Prestonfield –  boasts stunning views over Edinburgh Castle across open countryside and is home to the oldest house in Edinburgh, Prestonfield House. This area is becoming increasingly popular for families and professionals alike due to its proximity to the city centre. It is also home to a number of good schools, making it an attractive area if you are looking at property with children in mind or have young family members.

Grange – has a village-like feel and some of the best local amenities within easy reach; it’s more affordable than other areas but still offers excellent access to public transport links and short commutes into the town centre. The Grange is a good option for those looking to settle down in Edinburgh, as the area has excellent local amenities and transport links are also convenient. It can be found north of The City Centre on the other side of Holyrood Park.

Morningside – provides excellent commuter links into the city centre but also benefits from being just minutes away from Bruntsfield Links golf course which hosts international tournaments every year. The area has beautiful Victorian properties which are typically family homes due to their size and there are also excellent local schools in the vicinity should you be looking for somewhere to raise a family.

Transport links in Edinburgh

As you might expect from Scotland’s capital, Edinburgh has excellent transport links. The city’s airport is the main regional hub for Lothian and Edinburgh. You can also find a few international flights from here each day too, so if you’re looking to travel abroad, this could well be your best option.

Then there are the railways which run throughout Scotland in general but have been significantly improved by both Network Rail and ScotRail over recent years – plus it has never been easier or cheaper to get cheap train tickets when planning ahead online with our website!

The cheapest way around Edinburgh might just be on foot where you’ll no doubt stumble upon some hidden gems along the way that will add up together to make one great experience of living in this lovely capital city.

Edinburgh Castle

What is there to do in Edinburgh?

Much like any capital city, Edinburgh has a lot to offer its residents and visitors alike. The major attractions like Edinburgh Castle, National Museum of Scotland or the Royal Yacht Britannia might be great places to visit but you could also consider checking out some local galleries such as the Scottish Portrait Gallery or pop into one of the many museums dotted throughout the city for an educational experience that is sure to satisfy your inner history buff!

If you love art and literature then make sure not to miss visiting the Writers’ Museum which will give you an insight into how writers work while taking in their surroundings at home.

If nature is more your thing then there’s no shortage of parks in Edinburgh, or if you are feeling even more adventurous,  you can go for a trip out of town and explore some of the many forests that dot the wild and ancient Scottish countryside.

the area is so great! so many great pubs and cafes nearby and spoilt for food choices if like eating out.

I love staying the McEwan. It has a gym, work space and loads of other spaces for people to enjoy included in the rent. The public spaces are always really clean and all the team super helpful when i have needed anything. The lounges are really plush and well kitted out.

The McEwan is such a good place to live – all my neighbours are so friendly and there are loads of cute dogs that stay in the development too!

Please review your development:

The team who work here always go above and beyond to help and I really feel looked after here. The apartments are really well made and so insulated – always really warm and do not hear anything. I also like the way that there is loads of security around the building.

the area is really busy but when I am back at home I can escape it all – such a peaceful place to live

Please review your development:

the design of the Moda building is really great – it is split over 2 buildings which makes it feel less busy and then between the two there are amenity spaces that residents can use – these never are crowded which again makes it feel like a peaceful escape despite the surrounding area being busy

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

Great place to live

Review Date Oct 2024

The public transport is great and the area is pretty quiet for living in the city. The streets are safe but they could be a bit cleaner.

Please review your development:

I really like Moda but here are some suggestions to make it even better: 1. The courtyard door should close itself automatically 2. The gym should have a leg press , leg curl and hamstring machine 3. The 6th and 7th floor rooms should open at 6am really

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

To know that there is a construction site next to the building.

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

The maintenance was super helpful with our washing machine and the changing of our silicone
