Richmond House Fire 9.9.19 I am writing this review as someone that has had personal experience with Berkeley, as my beautiful Berkeley home burnt down in minutes. We were woken up at 1.30am to screaming and people banging on our front door. I took my sleeping one year old daughter and ran. Ran out of the flat, no shoes, in my PJ’s and waited for my husband to follow us. We then all watched our building burn down, everything we owned, gone in minutes. Berkeley took full responsibility at first, we had Tony Pidgley apologise and admit “we messed up, we missed those fire stops and we are so sorry”. He was actually a good man. Sadly he passed away and Berkeley instructed lowlife lawyers to deny it all. I am not sure how they can get away with it. If you are considering a Berkeley home, please consider these comments. It might look pretty, but they are not safe and they do not care about you or your family’s safety.

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

It was a beautiful development. I was so happy here. The happiest I’ve ever been. We loved the green space and the lake. I’m heartbroken we had to leave.

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

Building was managed by MTVH. We only lived there 1 year before it burnt down.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

That is was built without fire breaks. It was not safe to live in. My baby daughter was not safe to sleep in her bed at night. It was a matchbox.
