Royal Gateway is a Galliard Homes development in East London’s Royal Victoria Dock. This enormous development is made up of five towers, and is home to some 336 studios, one, two and three-bedroom apartments. There’s also a handful of two-bedroom duplex penthouses on offer. Canning Town tube station is just five minutes’ walk away, and you can reach Custom House within 15 minutes – the latter will shortly welcome Crossrail services.

Actually the building where i live is new which is quite nice and the concierge service is a plus! Unfortunately I don’t feel safe at night walking from the station and i have witnessed some robbery episodes. The street where i live is on the main traffic road which make it so noisy and even sometimes difficult to sleep and can’t enjoy the balcony 🙁 it seems and up and coming area but not there yet. There are not markets, gyms or anything decent nearby. Good is the proximity to Royal Victoria.

Dislike the lack of safety feeling walking around – even need to be careful with personal belongings
Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:
How safety it is not and the lack of shops
Mixed opinion
The flat and location is amazing but there is nothing around like restaurants or shops, just an off license. If you want to do a big shop you need to do an online order. The window cleaning service is poor but due to the airport and construction next door, the windows have been dusty for four months

I don’t like the emptiness here but the transport is good

Nothing, just how empty it is here
Unsafe
The area is very unsafe. It is scary walking at night time from the tube station to the development: risky to walk using your mobile phone or with headphones on. Check Crime Map in the Police website. Also many episodes of strangers accessing the building and stealing parcels. Caxton Street is incredibly noisy as there is always lots of traffic in that main road so you can’t have your windows open and don’t use much the balcony for this reason. Also due to the traffic the area is very polluted.

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:
no issues really raised regarding the landlord. it is more personal relationships as the landlord lives in the apartment as well
Great place to live.
Overall the building is in good condition and the flats are very spacious. It is also conveniently located near canning town station with good connections into the city. 24 hr security and concierge service is very good and adds a feeling of safety. The grounds are well maintained with a lovely communal garden.

How close the apartment is to royal Albert docks and the Emirates sky tram.
Great development in an up and coming area
We have lived in the devlopment for over 3 years now and really like the clean and functional design of the devlopment. The concierge are exceptional and the property is managed very well and kept very clean.
The space and layout of our flat for the price was what sold us, and was very good for London.
The big plus of the area are the excellent transport links with Canning Town Tube a short walk away and Crossrail stations coming to the area soon.
We have never felt threatened or unsafe in the area at any time of day.
The surrounding area is evolving rapidly and every month more and more shops and services open, I can wholeheartedly recommend it!

Canning Town is a fast evolving area and has some of the best transport links in London. Since moving in there is a fast evolving sense of community and more facilities and shops opening month by month.

As the develpment has a main (but not hugely busy) road on one side, living on a high floor makes a huge difference for privacy and noise pollution!
What is the best feature of your home:
The amoung of space and smart layout. All rooms are of a comfortable and very useful size which makes every space possible to make multi-purpose and enough room to have guests to stay.
Great place to live.
Good new build, neat and well kept with nice rooftop. Canning Town is well connected and area being revived with lots of new residential buildings. Property management is doing a good job and quick in fixing issues. Great view of the river and nice little park nearby as well.

Excellent location and place to live
I love the fact its close to central London, it’s well connected transport wise and right next to the royal Victoria. I have a river view which is iconic. So far no problem with managment. Theres not that many restaurants or shops very close by however

Nothing, the only negative thing is people leave mess outside the building
Mixed opinion
We like the building, I’m not really happy with some of the providers we have. I’ve been here for 2 and a half years and we were promise that the shops on the ground floor have not been opened yet. The high street does not have that many options

We like how close we are to the jubilee line and the rent is cheap for the area

Nom we are happy but would like to have known more about the area

The flat is very nice however the Shower leaks. There’s nothing much to do around this area. Not much around no shops, no restaurants, no bars. The transport is fine. If I wanna do groceries I have to order online or take the tube to go somewhere else. There’s a Mc Donald’s around.

How few restaurants, bars and shops are in the area. How many construction were going on.
Mixed opinion
It’s a nice apartment however it’s not the best built, the paint scrubs off easily. It’s very close to the jubilee which is an asset. The area is still being developed so theres quite a lot of noise. The concierge are lovely
