Ropemakers Yard is a large development by East Thames Group now joined with L&Q, featuring one, two and three-bedroom apartments available privately and through a Help to Buy scheme. The development backs onto Whitehorse Road Park, and is close to Stepney Green tube station (serviced by the District and Hammersmith and City lines). Limehouse train and DLR station is also only a short walk away.

Nice area, bad management

Nice quiet-ish area, not like being in a busy like eg Shoreditch. There’s good transport links, though.

The local authority, and general building and ground maintenance is shoddy. For an example hot water being off for a week, these sorts of issues are slow to be dealt with.

There’s a Sainsbury’s nearby so that’s alright. Close to Victoria Park for the dog etc.

Really nice area and community, terrible building management.

Build quality looks good, but the functionality is problematic with leaks being a big problem and building doors breaking constantly. Management is slow to react with repairs, and they have a lot of confusion with closing cases that are not closed. The monthly checks on their notice board are always ticked ‘good’ so hard to understand their criteria for that. Their attitude seems to be that even when bad temporary fixes are applied.

It’s a nice place to live, but there is a lot of youth crime in the area, marijuana etc, which combined with the security maintenance issues is a real problem that really needs addressing.

It’s easy to get around, in the heart of East, Canary Wharf and the city are not far.

Is really a nice quiet neighbourhood. Close to Victoria park, brick lane, lots of restaurants and shops etc.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

Wasn’t told of development plans directly in front of the property.

Are there any facilities you would like added, or that you have but do not use:

Would be nice for the community to have a shared allotment/growing area.

Bike parking areas would also be great.

Could make the rooftops useful in some way as they are accessible.

My overall impression is that it is very good. Few of the facilities like washing machines might need replacement. They broke as soon as we moved in. The crime level in this area is not noticeable so it is good

I like about this area that it is secure and quiete around

I wish I knew that there are very loud kids around

If there is one thing you would change about your flat or property what would it be:

I would change the fact that the flat would be on higher floor or soundproofing

The design is good and I enjoy the parks nearby. The football parks aren’t kept too well but the interior of the building is what needs improving most. Elderly people struggle going up and down the stairs so a lift would be nice

Shops and transport good sense of community. Security and council don’t respond quickly. Doesn’t compare to Islington and areas in other boroughs

Parking and no lift in one particular block

A lift would be useful but other then that there’s no other facilities we don’t use

The design of the building is modern. The facilities within the building is all kept clean. The building management is well managed. The Property management is also good. No issues with hot and cold water, no issues with heating. Excellent fast fibre optic Internet.

The outside communal areas could do with a bit of a deep clean.

Shops are close by. Train station within walking distance. Nice clean development.

Dislike; too many cars parked illegally. Some anti social behaviour.

The development is built well and there are not many faults with the property. The design and interior of the flats are nice and neighbours invite you to their events which is nice. The area is green which I also like as well.

I like how all the neighbours are nice and welcoming to me. The area all has good transport links.

Nothing

I don’t use the lift much but it is nice to have one

The design of the building is very professional looking with a refreshing looking exterior and makes me feel proud to be a resident of the area.

The layout is vet spacious which provides the necessary facilities.

I moved here because of how cheap it is and how near to central London it is, it’s very accesibless to get anywhere. Ita a shame that there isn’t much nightlife around as it means that you have to travel to go out.

There’s a lot of social housing around which can be a big loud

Area is good with the park and the big garden space.

Parking is bad apart from the disability parking. No chance to get a permit, you have to pay for a private space in the area.

Shops are close by which is good, plus the gym and swimming pool are not far in Stepney Green.

Really like the layout of the flat! Its really spacious and open plan! The apartment is good value for money. The building is really safe and secure as well as the building management being impressive

Building is really nice and is safe. Dislikes – can sometimes hear neighbours above and hear noises from the courtyard
