We are really happy with the property, the layout and design are great and we love that every room is spacious so no room feels like a box room. Our property has a surprisingly good amount of storage for a new build which we always feared wasn’t the case when buying a new build – but we have loads! With every new build you will undoubtedly have snags but the team here are so quick with dealing with things. We are really excited to see how this area develops as a wider plasdwr community, and Groeswen centre where there will be schools, restaurants and shops only a few minutes up the road. We would definitely recommend Redrow.

Please tell us what you like and dislike about this area:

One of the main reasons we chose this development was because it was near Danescourt and Radyr, with shops, GPs and post offices. The Groeswen area when finished will also be a main hub for these facilities to include a new school, shops and restaurants which once finished will be so convenient and was a key selling point for us. We also love its near fields and the Taff trail for dog walks too. There is minimal anti-social behaviour and the community are so helpful and open with one another. Bin collection is good and only the food collection has been missed on a couple of occasions.
Transport links from the site are great, the option of the bus just outside the site and two train stations nearby are both easy options. There is minimal traffic noise for our house.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

Make sure you have curtain options when you first move in – even cheap ikea blinds for the interim. When you buy a new build there is nothing on the windows which makes it a little tricky!
Also take a walk around danescourt and Radyr just to discover the nearby local shops and coffee stops. It really is handy having them 5 minutes away.

What is the best feature of your home:

I’ve been thinking about this and aside from the great layout and space I do think if we ever came to sell the property the best feature will be the view across the park/field when it’s finished.

The design of houses has been impressive with well proportioned rooms and impressive layouts. Redrow have been very thoughtful and attentive to detail. All staff that I have come into contact with, sales, customer service, site management and all building personnel have been professional, experienced and absolute credit to their company. They are obviously proud of the development they are creating.

Please tell us what you like and dislike about this area:

A new development which has good bus links into Cardiff city centre which is approximately 3 miles away. A new commercial area is due within the next couple of years but there are plenty of shops within easy driving distance from the development and restaurants and public house are approximately a mile away. Cycleways and
Green open spaces are a priority for the development. Bin collections are regular, the area is very quiet with little traffic noise except for the builders necessary machinery as the development progresses and to date there has been no anti social behaviour.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

Be prepared for some snagging issues ( which Redrow have always attended to promptly ).
The sales team is exceptional ( Jodie ) and address any issues or queries very professionally. Also every other member of staff I have come into contact with have also been exceptional. A great team.

What is the best feature of your home:

A beautiful well designed house. Modern features, well proportioned both inside and out and well insulated.

Overall I enjoy living on the site and I’m looking forward to seeing the finished estate when all of the building is completed and the gardens are finished, it’s going to look lovely.
The house I live in is of excellent build quality and design and I love living here.
The main downsides reside around the local area and the obvious lack of bars, restaurants, cafes and shops but hopefully as more people move to the area this will be resolved.

Please tell us what you like and dislike about this area:

Convenient location to get to town, mostly good access by bus and bike. The house itself is fantastic and is of very good build quality.
The down sides of the development are the lack of restaurants, bars, pubs, shops nearby. There is also a hideous barrier outside my house that seems to be used as a bit of a dumping ground for some of the building staff, which is not good.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

I’ve had an excellent experience with the developer overall. However as mentioned previously, the development plans with the barrier outside my house was not described accurately. It will eventually be a flower bed, which I’d be happy with however in the interim they’re using a concrete block which is not aesthetically pleasing.

What is the best feature of your home:

I love the whole house, the build quality is great, it’s very well insulated, has great storage especially for a 2 bed house and has a great sized garden.

The heating controls should be separated for each floor. A front / garage tap should be an option. The utility cupboard should have an outlet/connection for the tumble dryer hose. Where it is possible ( an for my house it was) there should be daylight to the en suite even if this is just a small fixed window for light.
Building management were not customer focussed as an example they would say details were all as per design / plans though they were not shown on any plans supplied and when I specifically asked for the design / plans the request was refused.
Property management has bot yet kicked in but residents (particularly early buyers) should have had input to the features that we will have to pay upkeep for.

Please tell us what you like and dislike about this area:

The main feeder roads should have been wider, the entry bends less severe and the visibility splay will become a problem when the new hedge matures. The play area for children has not been thought through and should be fenced and gated to minimise problems with animals.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

I would have inspected more regularly and trusted the site managers less and the ability of the sales staff to resolve problems, also less.

For me the house layout, room sizes and the location.

Excellent support. Easy communication with the sales team. Small issues were solved quickly. Roads have taken some time to be finished, but they are now completing works. The development also includes nearby green areas. The area is quite family friendly.

It’s a quiet area, family friendly. Long term the traffic might be an issue, because there are many new developments around.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

The traffic in the area is getting complicated. Although we have the train station in Radyr, and it has park and ride, if one arrives after 9-10am it’s almost impossible to find parking place.

What is the best feature of your home:

High ceilings. It makes feeling the spaces to be larger.

So far, we are enjoying the development and think it will be brilliant once complete. The location is great and it’s a lovely neighbourhood for both young and older people to live. The build quality is very good and if any issues arise our developer is always quick to resolve.

Great location, as only a short drive to the city centre. Could do with some more local shops and restaurants in walking distance.

That we would have to share an entrance with construction traffic which can be frustrating at times

The design is smart and the area is utilized well to more houses and spacious enough for living.
But not all houses get a garage so storing things is a bit difficult.

The facilities are excellent the building management and property management are on the average side because all the street side trees and shrubs are not maintained.
Lot of weeds grown and it could get out of control.

The roads are also just average since it is dug and not properly made back

The development is an very good location between Radyr and Danescourt.
The schools are bit far away but there is school underdevelopment which is due to open in 2023.
The builders vehicles are inconvenient at times but it is manageable.
The landscapes and open spaces are very good and adds a lot of value and excellent outlook to the development.

Where to make carpets or tiles ? and advices would have helped.

Good quality service and house. Love the design of our staircase and handrail and under stair storage for the washing machine. The box room in one of our bedrooms is a good touch and very handy. Shame there’s no main bathroom only 2 en suites and one downstairs toilet

Good choice of local shops and open spaces.
Parking is an issue as people park behind our drive because of no parking spaces for them so get blocked in.
anti social behaviour in the street

That there were no curbs on the road and that we can’t put a outside tap in the garden after completion

Very modern, the developer has been great and the landscaping looks fantastic. The local park etc is taking some time though. The roads do although seem quite narrow particularly in the entrance into the estate. Would love to see some bins on the estate too
