Shocking Customer Service & Unfulfilled Promises

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

As a repeat customer who previously bought a Redrow home, the difference in standards before and after the merger with Barratt is night and day. When dealing strictly with Redrow in the past, the customer experience was top-tier. Since the takeover by Barratt, the quality of customer service has become completely shocking. Instead of receiving organized support, we are constantly forced to chase customer service for basic responses and updates. Whenever an issue is raised, customer care simply passes the buck off to the site team rather than taking ownership or resolving the problem. To make matters worse, we used an official friend-recommendation incentive voucher when a friend purchased a home with Redrow on our referral. Despite fulfilling every requirement, we have never received the incentive payment. We have chased customer service regarding this money multiple times across several months, only to be met with complete radio silence. Buying a home—especially for the second time with the same builder—should come with a level of trust and assurance. Unfortunately, after experiencing how downhill the service has gone post-takeover, I would no longer trust the quality of their customer service or their build. Very disappointing.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

That the quaility of service would be worse than when we brought redrow home on the same development 5 years ago.

What is the best feature of your home:

Location and local primary school. House design is great just a shame that the Barrent take over has brought Redrow customer care quaility down.

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

Lovely place to live. Lovely size 3 bedroom detached with separate garage, love the kitchen/ dining area, all rooms are a fabulous size. Never had any problems at all. Lovely location to village with lovely shops within walking distance, also great for the airport. Plenty of things to do all within easy reach. Really needs a dentist, doctors, we have lived here for over 3 years & we still can’t get in to see a dentist, it’s appalling.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

Site still unfinished, footpaths pieced together, road not laid yet!

What is the best feature of your home:

I love my house, very nice size rooms & garage . Lovely big windows, nice wooden feature throughout.

avoid - hot water is an ongoing and badly managed problem - cheap patchwork fixes lead to frequent unplanned days long outages

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

regular hot water outages, no updates/comms from building managment about any of it, hot water goes off and comes back on, sometimes days later without any updates or plan. they say its always being repaired, clearly a deeper issue with the facilities in this building. tenants and owners should come together and take legal action at this point.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

building hot water is unreliable and never gets fixed properly, sometimes go days without hot water, even in winter. intercom unreliable, works 50/50. parking at £2200/year is overpriced for the area

What is the best feature of your home:

its cheap, near a station and a newer development so aesthetically in ok condition

Botched diy

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

If you want a nice new shiny house full of botched DIY then Barratt has you covered, unsanded doors and skirting boards, thresholds not fitted properly, windows really poor quality, with melted corners and sharp bits, chips all over the handle, front door and frame is chipped and being replaced doesnt lock properly, kitchen windows don't latch, silicone wiped up the walls leaving a grey line, flooring glue over all the hard flooring downstairs, carpet not fitted properly in corners. Honestly if we knew it would be this bad we wouldn't have moved in. All the staff we dealt with were lovely but dont be fooled by the show homes, the finish is nothing like that whatsoever youre better off going elsewhere if you want a home built by professionals.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

Location is great. Buy from hopkins homes or morris homes

What is the best feature of your home:

Literally the location, the development if fine, the homes are a shocking standard , i have no idea how they got signed off

Good location but many hidden issues exist

Kingston Riverside, KT2

Aug 2025

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

Good: location & neighbors Bad: 1. No mobile signal in the room 2. Cracks on the wall become worse 3. The heating is central heating has faults components 4. Settlement issue - I have been once “locked” in the flat because ground settling issue. Unable to open the entrance door even it wasn’t locked. In the end, the locksmith had to lower all the door locks by 2 cm to get them working again, which shows just how serious the settlement problem is.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

1. The HIU (central heating) actually had issues when I moved in. The control panel’s timer couldn’t actually stop the heat pump from running, which caused my heating bill to the landlord to be extremely high 2. And the washer/dryer was also not working. After a long time, my landlord finally agreed to replace it with a washer (without a drying function)… it was really quite frustrating.

What is the best feature of your home:

Quite Friendly concierge staff nothing nothing nothing else
