Quiet, spacious and well-furnished – ideal city living

Verified Resident
Verified Resident
Review Date Dec 2020

I moved in at the start of September 2020 to a brand new flat. I found it very easy to settle in, and the induction process was well thought-out with a thorough demonstration of the building’s safety credentials -always a concern post-Grenfell. The flats are all furnished with high quality items and everything has worked perfectly so far!
The property management staff are all so helpful and have strived to create something of a community spirit in the middle of a lockdown with online events. A pleasant surprise for me which wasn’t advertised was the building’s sound-proofing. Not only is the complex in a quiet area of the city, the flats are so well insulated that you never hear sounds from those above or around you. I often forget I’m living in a big city like Manchester.
I recently moved from London where a 1-bed like mine would be double the rent, so to pay less than £900 a month for a new-build city-centre flat is a massive bonus!
I would thoroughly recommend Chapel Wharf if you’re looking for spacious, well-furnished flats in a central location in Manchester, but with the luxury of peace and quiet in a bustling city.

Please tell us what you like and dislike about this area:

The off-centre location is perfect for those who want to be close to the city but are looking for something a bit quieter. Chapel Wharf is a 5 min walk from Spinningfields and the Arndale Centre, and a 10 min walk from the Northern Quarter, so for me the location has been perfect.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

I hadn’t appreciated before moving in how good the sound-proofing is. As a young professional currently working from home in the flat, it has been ideal. I’ve lived in new-builds before where the walls are paper-thin but the concrete build of Chapel Wharf means it’s very quiet.

If there is one thing you would change about your flat or property what would it be:

We’re limited by the current lockdown (as of Dec 2020), but it would be nice to have more resident community events, though this may change once Covid restrictions lift.

Happy To be calling it Our Home

The parking for the residents should be included in the rent being paid.

Having a main switch for the exhausts of the bathroom is a bit taxing because sometimes it can so be that we forget to switch it on which may not solve the purpose. So, to have just one switch for it would be a lot easier.

Please tell us what you like and dislike about this area:

I only recently moved in here and it has been a wonderful experience from the time we got in touch with our agent and till she helped us move in. They’ve been so quick with the formalities and have kept us informed throughout.
The service here is absolutely amazing. Being in the city centre everything is walking distance, from getting groceries to getting a train for work or a short holiday.
There hasn’t been any nuisance noticed on the street so that’s a good thing to mention. Bins are collected regularly. Parking can be a bit challenging due to it being the city centre and the prices being sky high. However, it’s quite accessible from the train stations so that’s a plus.

As a whole, we absolutely enjoy living here and I’m grateful to come back home to this apartment after a long day at work.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

Our agent covered everything we needed to know before we moved in.

If there is one thing you would change about your flat or property what would it be:

Very content with what’s there. Absolutely love it the way it is.

Good design and facilities, had a few things break in the first couple of weeks but quickly fixed by maintenance which was good. Lovely kitchen and living room, love the bathroom too. Building management very friendly and helpful. Great parcel management too.

Please tell us what you like and dislike about this area:

Good range of local shops and post office and near to bars and restaurants. Very close to open space by river.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

When the flat gets the sun.

If there is one thing you would change about your flat or property what would it be:

The bathroom floor, very white so hard to keep clean. Maybe a bin shoot.

Chapel Wharf is a fantastic development and I would recommend it without any hesitation. Wifi and gym is included in the rental price. They also help you set up bills; electric, water and council tax. My partner and I, saw Chapel Wharf online on Saturday and by the following Friday we received our keys; it was hassle free. It’s a bonus that the apartments come fully furnished. The apartment was cleaned before our arrival and we received an excellent welcoming. We were also given a welcome pack which included things like, paper towels, tea bags and disinfectant etc. All paperwork is found and completed online. There are events going on every month which are good for socialising. The apartments are definitely worth the price!

Please tell us what you like and dislike about this area:

Chapel Wharf is based in a great location! Shops, restaurants and bars are all walking distance. There are no problems with accessing public transport, with train, tram and bus services available close by, also getting a taxi is very easy. Parking is on the first floor and there are plenty of spaces, and secure with fob access. It would be a bonus if parking was including in the rental price, however a car is not really required around the city centre. Residents compromise of a mix of students, young adults, and families. No noise pollution. The mailbox and bins are on the ground floor which is very convenient.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

We were thoroughly informed about everything from day one, there was nothing hidden.

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

We noticed the master bedroom window would not open. I sent a message online to the building management. Within the hour the maintenance guy resolved the issue.

Excellent facilities, well maintained and cleaned regularly. The management team are very helpful and accommodating. There’s a constant effort to have some kind of activity for residents, which helps to foster a sense of community. It was helpful during lockdown, even if you didn’t join in.

Please tell us what you like and dislike about this area:

Great location next to the railway station and free bus stop. Plenty of shops within a short walk, as well as a post office with a great selection of craft beers. The nearest decent green space is Peel park, which is further away than I’d have liked. And the frequency of trains to salford central is also not as good as other stations.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

I only learnt recently about the free bus which stops just outside the building. It would have been better if that had been publicised more.

What is the best feature of your home:

Nice size apartment, laid out to use the space quite well.

The enclosed element of the block means that natural light isn’t great. Feel a little enclosed and grass in the shared mezz garden needs a cut. Looking forward to seeing the finished media suite and gym as little disappointed that these aren’t ready yet. Overall though finish and the postal tech / room is really handy (never miss a parcel)

Please tell us what you like and dislike about this area:

Really familiar with the area great access to shopping centre (Arndale), local shops are easily accessible- perfect location

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

I wouldn’t change anything concierge / facilities and management staff have been great great throughout

If there is one thing you would change about your flat or property what would it be:

The recycling facilities- bin is always locked down and the slot is annoyingly thin

The design of building and flats and bathroom every thing are perfect. The furnitures are very stilish and very very comfartable. If I but myself a matris I would have bought the same quality. Washing machine and dish washer and the oven are very high quality. I like the space of balcony.management is just perfect

Please tell us what you like and dislike about this area:

Local area is amazing. local shops, restaurants, bars & open spaces are just minutes walk. You can walk to city center, high street and the streets which have high end brands.
convenience and availability of transport links are amazing.
In şense of parking availability, bin collections, anti-social behaviour & traffic noise it is in amazing location

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

If I knew the location was that good I would not have worried that much

If there is one thing you would change about your flat or property what would it be:

I would like to have 3 bedroom flat for pet owners

Great 2 bed, both rooms & bathrooms very spacious. Lots of bedroom & bathroom storage. Huge balcony! Not much kitchen storage and tiny freezer space which is the only let down. Management team are brilliant and make living here a lovely experience, especially during lockdown!

Great location, close to town but away from most of the noise. Lots of bars and restaurants close by

Cosy and perfect apartment

Review Date Feb 2021

Even though I live in a studio flat, there is still enough space for me and the balcony is quite big with a lovely view. The interior design is minimalistic and just lovely.
Cannot stop saying thank you to the whole management team as they’ve always been extremely helpful, friendly, and organised.
In addition, I like the parcel storage system in the building: no need to be worried about collecting a parcel immediately but whenever you are available. All parcels are kept in a safe place securely which I believe is extremely important.

Please tell us what you like and dislike about this area:

Perfect location, easy to get to the main shopping area, bars, restaurants and cafes

If there is one thing you would change about your flat or property what would it be:

Maybe a separate bin for food waste in the building and a bit bigger fridge in a flat.

Great building – relaxed living

Verified Resident
Verified Resident
Review Date Feb 2021

Really good sized apartments (we’re in a 2-bed) and very large balconies (over 10m long!)

Facilities have been great so far, couple of minor issues were fixed immediately, often same day. The concierge is well and truly 24/7 from what I’ve seen and anytime you encounter someone linked with the building (whether Dandara or outside contractors) everyone has been very friendly.

Please tell us what you like and dislike about this area:

Good area, close to Spinningfields, and therefore close to a lot of nice bars and restaurants when they reopen.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

There’s a place called La Citta which is about a 30 seconds walk from the building. This place does the meanest calzone and since I discovered it it’s taken far more of my money than I’d like to admit. If I’d known beforehand I may have picked a building further away.

If there is one thing you would change about your flat or property what would it be:

Probably have a bigger bin room. They get swapped out very frequently so not a major issue but sometimes thr cardboard bin is very full. Nothing major

Amazing Apartment

Verified Resident
Verified Resident
Review Date Feb 2021

My boyfriend and I moved into a 2 bed apartment at Chapel Wharf in late January, and it has undoubtedly exceeded expectations so far. Highly, highly recommend – particularly for young couples like us.

The overall design is sleek and modern, whilst still having that cosy element (e.g. carpets in living areas and bedrooms) which adds to the homely feel. Furniture and amenities are coordinated nicely. Super easy to clean. Insulation is really good, never cold and radiators really easy to use/control. Bathrooms in particular are stunning, and showers are nice and powerful. Plenty of storage space as well as wardrobes are large and there is ample room under the beds. The kitchen is also lovely, decent cupboard space and oven/hob great quality. The only critique we had was the size of the fridge freezer, but the management are so accommodating so we were able to request an additional portable fridge or freezer for the extra space (at no extra cost to us). Another thing I’d say is make sure you invest in an ergonomic chair if working from home, as the dining chairs are rather firm!

Facilities are excellent. Post and parcels are managed efficiently and securely, with an email notification system to let you know when your parcel has arrived. Friendly and capable maintenance team here too, no problem is ever too minor. Overall management is brilliant and questions are responded to in a timely manner. The management team also put on events for special occasions throughout the year (e.g. Valentine’s Day, Chinese New Year and Pancake Day recently), so it’s nice to live somewhere with that warm, community feel.

Honestly we couldn’t recommend Chapel Wharf highly enough. Unreal value for money too compared with others. Bring on the Manchester summer so we can take advantage of the huge balcony!

Please tell us what you like and dislike about this area:

The area is ideal. Despite being technically classed as Salford, you can cross the river and be in the heart of Spinningfields (city centre) in less than a 10 minute walk. Absolutely loads of lovely restaurants/bars in that area. There’s a Tesco Express literally 3 minutes away which is super convenient. The Salford facing apartments (including ours) look on to the railway line and beyond, which is cool for an urban view. Whilst you can hear the trains and cars going by, it’s certainly not obtrusive as the apartments are well insulated. We feel very safe living here too.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

I’d say the main thing is to consider which way you want the apartment to face. We are Salford facing (North West ish) which suits us, but just think about whether you want direct sun or not etc., and I know some apartments look out to other blocks so bear that in mind.

If there is one thing you would change about your flat or property what would it be:

Other than the size of the fridge freezer, absolutely nothing. We couldn’t have asked for more.
