Truly pleasureful living in the centre of Nottingham

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

BW is a fabulous development with an extremely convenient location. I travel quite a lot and being close to the station was crucial for me when choosing a flat, and BW truly delivered on that point. Living on the canal cannot be more delightful, and being close to basically everything that Notts has to offer in the city centre is really great. BW is very well connected to the rest of the city (tram, bus) and the country (trains, coaches). I have not experienced any anti-social behaviour, traffic or any other noise in my months living here, nor any odours from the canal.

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

I have not had any issues to report or to be in contact with the landlord.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

Nothing really, everything was absolutely clear during my viewing.

Manager response

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

The local area is very convenient with many shops, supermarkets, and restaurants nearby. Public transport is easy to access and makes getting around the city simple. It’s a lively area with many students around and overall feels safe and comfortable to live in.

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

They were very fast and took care of it the next day with ease.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

“I wish I were able to pay rent in shorter periods rather than committing to a full year. It’s not the worst for me, but it may be difficult for others.

Manager response

Hi Ameen, Thank you for taking the time to write such a thoughtful review, we are delighted to hear that you are loving life at British Waterways and hope you continue to do so throughout the rest of your time here. Bernie and I are incredibly grateful for your kind words, we will keep doing everything we can so that all British Waterways tenants have the best experience with us. If you have any ideas for future events please do let us know as we are keen to keep delivering fun events and building a strong British Waterways community!

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

The location is amazing. Close to everything you might need, five minutes walking to the central square, same distance to the train station. Yet it’s very quiet.

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

So far, any issues have been resolved quickly and efficiently.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

The minor issue is that boats sometimes moor along the canal by the building, and their stoves or engines can make the air quite smoky.

Manager response

Hi Ani, Thank you for such an excellent review! We are happy to hear you have really settled down well at British Waterways and are enjoying the events. If you have any ideas of what you would like to see in the future please do let me know and I will try my best to make it happen! If you see any boats mooring to the building please let us know straight away so I can request they relocate, we are arranging to have 'No Mooring' signs displayed outside the building so hopefully this helps!

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

We’re close to everything needed and it’s really easy to get into town. The train station is minutes away as well as most bus routes. The only issue is with the empty buildings and bins. Renovation works have now started on which will help with the empty buildings and the bins are down to other tenants being lazy.

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

They respond promptly and are always happy to investigate.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

The signage outside is unclear. You cannot park outside the building and will receive a ticket (several) if you exceed 20mins.

Manager response

Hi Angel, Thank you so much for your kind words, it really does mean a lot to us! We will pass over your message about the unclear signage outside the building to the estate managers and request that new signage to be implemented.

Great building to live in

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

Good area with lots of shops and cafes close by and very close to the train station and buses. Unfortunately parking is very limited and the lights outside the building often don’t work, which makes it difficult when walking outside in the dark.

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

They always get in touch promptly and arrange a solution

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

The appliances (heating, oven, etc) didn’t come with any manuals or instructions so it was a struggle to set the heating on timers and work things. It would have been good to know how all those things worked upon moving in

Manager response

Hi Em, Thank you for your lovely review! We really appreciate your feedback on living here at British Waterways, we do have manuals available upon request but we apologise for not communicating that with you upon moving in! Regarding the streetlights, please do let us know if they are ever not turning on so we can relay that onto to estate managers as Bernie and I are usually gone before they would be switching on we are often unaware until brought to our attention. We are happy to hear you are enjoying the events, if you have any suggestions on what you would like to see in the future please do let me know so I can try and make it happen! I hope to see you at the next one!
