Overall, I have had a very positive experience living in the development. The building and surrounding areas are generally well maintained, and the location is particularly convenient for shops, restaurants, public transport and other everyday amenities. The development feels safe and pleasant, and the communal areas are usually kept to a good standard. There are occasionally minor issues that could be improved, such as communication around maintenance or small repairs, but these do not significantly affect the overall experience. I would happily recommend the development to others looking for a comfortable and convenient place to live.

Overall, the development has a modern design and a good range of facilities, making it a convenient and comfortable place to live. The communal areas are generally well maintained, and the building management is responsive when issues are raised. Property management is reasonably helpful, although communication and response times could sometimes be improved. One significant downside is that the bedrooms do not have proper blackout blinds/curtains, so the rooms are not completely dark at night or early in the morning, which can affect sleep. This would be a worthwhile improvement for the development.

Unfortunately I haven’t had a very good experience with the building so far. Absolutely no comment on the friendliness of the team, however friendliness isn’t everything. Me and my partner were at first unable to move in on the date we had on our lease and were paying rent from due to our apartment not being ready, this was not communicated to us and we only found out after I called the office asking when I could pick up our keys. To their credit they did provide us with an apartment to stay in, as well as a one time discount on rent, but this was only after we were given the keys to and walked up to an apartment that had Dog poo and wee stains (and smells) all over, and had clearly not been cleaned to a professional standard. Ever since moving in I have not really felt a real community environment at all, no one really says hi to each other in the corridors, it feels a lot more like a hotel than an apartment building that people live in. The amenity spaces are lovely but again have a real hotel feel so, apart from the gym, I never really see a lot of people gathering there or using them. For an apartment building in Sheffield there’s nothing about it that makes me feel like the design or vibe matches Sheffield in any way whatsoever, the building could easily be put in Manchester or London or any other UK city. Theres no uniqueness. The maintenance seems to be lacking as well, tickets go completely unanswered and aren’t acknowledged, access points to the building have been out of order for weeks and for an apartment building in the centre of Sheffield it seems like a really odd choice to not implement 24/7 security, especially hearing from past residents that there have been issues with vandalism in the past. All in all, although me and my partner have settled in to our apartment, we are still experiencing issues caused by the lack of attention to detail before moving in with issues like dog hair covering the inside of the sofa cushions, one dining chair being broken and unusable and a hole in the laminate that has been pointed out to staff multiple times. The staff, as mentioned above, are genuinely very friendly and as helpful as they can be, I simply think that the overall management has put a real dampener over our whole experience so far, especially given the amount of rent that we are paying. I wouldn’t be able to recommend Platform as it is now to any potential residents, however with effort and dedication I can definitely see room for improvement.

The apartment is very light, comfortable and well laid out. It’s nice to look out over the courtyard garden. The facilities were one of the selling points for me - a gym, cinema room, gardens / terraces and a bar overlooking the river. The management team on the front desk are very helpful and friendly to deal with any queries. The post room works well to get deliveries. All in all it’s a very practical and convenient option for working in central Glasgow.

The building is modern however it’s clear that the building was thrown up quickly and many residents face the same maintenance issues - things simply aren’t to the standard advertised. While there are lots of amenities available for residents these are similarly in poor quality, I don’t think I’ve been in the gym once when every single piece of equipment is working. The lack of security is particularly concerning. Platform staff have actually removed the lock mechanisms on the buildings gates, leaving private courtyards open access despite multiple residents raising concerns. Bikes have been stolen from the secure bike rooms and parcels have been stolen from the secure parcel room. Platform advertises the community within the buildings however this comes from the residents and not the building staff - in fact platform staff shut down the building WhatsApp group chat. Despite advertising that they host residents events, these events are often cancelled at the last minute, simply don’t exist, or they haven’t told residents they’re happening. In response, residents organise their own events to meet their neighbours. Worryingly, at one of the few events the building has actually hosted, staff got drunk and were antagonising and belittling residents. Platform as a development has the potential to be great, but it seems to fall short at nearly every hurdle and their sales tactics during viewings are verging on false advertising. In fact when I’ve had friends visit the property they’ve commented that it isn’t worth the price of rent. Recently, Platform announced they would be increasing the rent for intermediate market flats by 24%. Residents tried to speak to management (both on site and at the larger company) about this and were ignored at every turn - the blatant greed and willingness to exploit legal loopholes had left residents with significant stress with staff refusing to speak to residents about this.
