Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:
Great location as it’s an easy walking distance to town and uni, always seems to be busses going past however I’ve never got one so the transport is good, there’s a few car parks nearby which is helpful. The only noise I ever hear if if Sainsbury’s is getting a delivery and I leave my windows open
How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:
I’ve had a couple maintenance problems since I moved in but they’ve been fixed within two days of reporting them which is helpful.
Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:
Tips id suggest is use side gages as it can be a lot quicker to get to your flat than by going through the whole building. The bedrooms are a little small if you’re wanting to ‘decorate’ or have other things apart from the bed. However the wardrobes are big enough to fit drawers in the bottom for extra storage.

High turnover of managers and community hosts, neighbouring HMO…

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:
It’s best to register with South Wales Listens and select Butetown, the town centre and Dumballs Road/The Huggard to keep up with the crime problems in the area.
How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:
It’s very difficult to get a reply to emails around here, there are constant noise issues that I have to bring to the team’s attention but when it’s the staff and contractors are the source of the disturbances, all easily avoided and not a consequence of their work, just pure thoughtless and low expectations for residents. It does little in the way of help set an example when e.g. the security guard is allowing doors to slam closed behind at midnight as he does his vacant apartment checks.
Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:
The area, very close to a HMO, I’ve seen people having sex in the car park. I’ve seen people using hard drugs on the pavement outside. You sometimes have no choice but to walk past groups of these people hanging out while on your way to town. The high turnover of staff. It is unsettling, particularly when it involves the manager. The early weekend morning noise disturbances from the office block across the road having their windows cleaned, being woken on a Thursday, the Friday, the Saturday, Sunday, Monday and Tuesday between 6 am and 7 am over the Easter bank holiday weekend for example. The starting at 6 am deliveries to the Co-op in the commercial unit on the ground floor. The skateboarders! Clack, clack and clack for hours at a time.

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:
There is an excellent number of shops nearby, with a Tesco express and Lidl within walking distance. There are also two Michelin star restaurants nearby if you’re fancying a nice date or some fine dining with friends. The area itself is fantastic, very quiet with no disturbances from any nearby roads in the evening.
How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:
We are yet to have any issues with our flat and I have no doubt anything would be resolved very quickly!
Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:
I wouldn’t say there is anything I wasn’t clued up on before moving in. Our viewing was very informative and covered everything that was included with living here. We’re very happy!

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:
I'm so happy living at Platform Edinburgh, right in the heart of Leith Walk. I moved in 4 months ago and it has been a wonderful experience so far. The location is fantastic, everything is nearby and well connected. My children attend Broughton Primary School, which is just a 3 minute drive away, making our daily routine much easier.
How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:
The only suggestion I would offer is to improve the internal communication within the administrative team. Sometimes it feels like enquiries are passed between different people, which can lead to confusion or the need to follow up more than once to get a clear answer. A bit more consistency and organisation in this area would make the experience even better.
Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:
Just to be patient during the application process, that's all I would advice.

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:
It’s overall very good but the tram station is about 15 minutes away so it’s a bit of a walk. Noise is only from seagulls and that’s just Edinburgh so it’s fine. There’s a park nearby and in 10 minutes walking you can find cafes and restaurants
How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:
They’re generally responsive when you raise issues, they get back to you pretty quickly most of the time. I had a small issue in the bathroom and they did take a bit long to handle it and didn’t do it thoroughly the first time around, but they sorted it out eventually. The electrical meter thing I mentioned before also took some back and forth. So it’s a mixed bag really - they do respond but sometimes you need to follow up to get things done properly.
Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:
The postcode is quite new so some people or companies may not find it right away when you’re trying to get deliveries or services set up. Had a few delivery drivers get a bit confused at first and some online forms didn’t recognize it straight away. Nothing major but just something to keep in mind when you’re moving in and setting up utilities and stuff. Other than that it’s pretty straightforward really.
