Getting Around Newcastle

Newcastle is on the northern bank of the River Tyne and seven bridges connects it with Gateshead, a town on the south bank of the river. On the north side you can discover a number of new developments including The Forge, Quayside Lofts and Hanover Mills. All of which are rated as great places to rent in Newcastle.

“The location is perfect, right next to the Quayside and train station, with all shops, restaurants and bars within short walking distance” David T, Verified Resident of The Forge

The heart of the area is Grainger Town, where many of the properties are Grade II or II listed. This is where you will find Grainger Market – Newcastle’s first indoor market and Theatre Royal.

Just to the north of the city centre is Jesmond, popular with students and younger professionals. It is also one of the posh areas of Newcastle. This is one of the most desirable areas of Newcastle and is where you can find Jesmond Three Sixty by Jomast.

Up and coming areas in Newcastle include historic Ouseburn Valley. The once bustling factories and warehouses have been regenerated into a new and vibrant area of the city. Also to the east along the river you will find a suburb called Byker. This area made its name as the setting of BBC TV series Byker Grove, where TV hosts Ant and Dec found fame. It is also home to one of Newcastle’s most well-known housing developments, Byker Wall.

“There are some really great bars and nightlife, but the area is still quiet enough at night. The views over the water are great, especially with the sunrise.” David C, Tenant of Quayside Lofts

Newcastle, served by the Metro system, offers convenient connectivity around the city. Over 60% of the population of Newcastle live within a mile of a station; and as you move further from a station house prices reduce. In addition homes closer to stations are worth more and bought and sold less often.

Location to city centre is perfect especially working in city centre. Parking availability could be better

Love the fact the flat came furnished, it is spacious and modern and the design is great. The building has a gym. The building is well managed and ran, always tidy and looked after. It has good amenities nearby. It is a positive that if you have any issue it is resolved quickly.

We like the fact there is an app where staff can relay information to you and you can log any issues or repairs needed

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

Replied straight away when we needed repairs for the bath, fixed it within 24 hours

It is quite far from nearest shop well up a hill, really quiet brilliant location in Newcastle needs better parking availability but enough when it’s not busy

Please review your development:

In our development, the design stands out, with each property reflecting thoughtful planning. Ample space but more storage is needed. The inclusion of pet-friendly furniture is commendable. A blend of aesthetics & functionality makes living here pleasant

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

Might just be too peaceful haha but really good property

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

Prompt responses; solutions on the same day Or arrranged for suitable time but super helpful

Amazing location, slightly pricey, flat design could be better given the rental price.

Quiet area despite being centrally located – both station and city centre. Decent bin collections. Clean area.

Please review your development:

Lack of storage space within property, quite a lot of empty space that can be maximised for storage, given the property is advertised as fully furnished. Quality of furniture is average, a bit old. Good facilities available that are taken care of. Efficient management. Lack of lighting within flat especially the bathroom.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

Low lighting conditions in the bathroom especially

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

Fast and efficient. It was very easy to contact maintenance through the Grainger’s app.
