Declining Area + Rising Rent

Review Date Oct 2023

Our area was toward the nicer end of town until about 6 months ago. We’ve now got extensive antisocial behaviour and unruly youths in our development- not ALL residents, some are from the neighbouring streets choosing our streets for their antics. It’s quickly become unsafe and grim to live in. With our car being broken into on one occasion while it being tried many other times. Our rent increases are the complete opposite to the compensation we would expect as a result.

Please review your development:

Dave is always pleasant to work with when contactable. I believe he does his best to help us using the resources he has available to him. For not being from the area I think he is often shocked when reported to about the occurrences in the development.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

How quickly the rent rises. How much the rent rises. How out of touch the ‘rent increase’ team is.

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

Haven’t raised any so unsure how they are with helping.

House is okay but rent is starting to get too much for what it’s worth

On the street I’m on there’s trees in the road. These trees take up parking spaces, at times its hard to park near your house. There has been a few problems with thieves trying to get into cars. We’ve installed a ring doorbell but this isn’t working if I can’t park outside our hose. The rent prices are extortionate for what you get.

Please review your development:

The house is nicely laid out, love the heigh ceilings. There was a problem with damp, after a year and a bad first attempt at fixing it, it has finally been sorted. The walls are thick so you can bearly hear your neighbours, this is good if you have noisy neighbours.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

Check for damp and make a note of any problems straight away

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

Dave is sound. He will help where he can. It’s the people that’s above him that are useless

Clean, modern and ideal!

Great range of local shops nearby within walking distance. Very close to the town and the marina for ease of access to shopping and leisure activities.
Very low traffic noise and only minor disturbances from members of the public visiting the local pub and the houses on the main road entering the garden.

Please review your development:

Spacious, modern and lots of room for everything we have. Modern and up to date fixtures and white goods. Carpets throughout the upstairs and laminate on the ground floor which is very easy to clean. Back garden wasn’t maintained on arrival but a small space so easily managed.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

The walls are very thin on the adjoining houses if you are mid terrace.

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

Yes they have, we’ve had damp on the ground floor and a leak in the shower.

Great first experience of private renting

Very good location in terms of accessing local shops etc but it’s quite rough. Lots of dodgy people on the road nearby in the evenings, lots of loud music from cars at night.

Please review your development:

This was a lovely first house for me and my partner, loved that everything was freshly maintained when we moved in. Have had difficulties with hot water that were not dealt with properly and then we’re delayed in being fixed, and the payment system for Place first seems to take more money out and then refund it each month which is stressful. Very spacious house and was nice and neutral which meant I could decorate how I liked, and it looks very good quality and modern. Would be handy to include more space for watching machine/tumble dryer and dishwasher though as I had to choose only 1.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

More about the location and what is in the area nearby.

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

No. Contacted about an issue with the flooring and never heard back. Took weeks to solve issue with hot water and the maintenance/plumber was very lazy tried to fob me off first.
