Think carefully before purchasing a Redrow home from new...

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

Living in Woodford is lovely, just a shame that its at Woodford Garden Village as the finish of the Redrow homes and after care are truly appalling.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

That the final delivered product is truly shocking and that the attitude of Redrow is "We can fix it afterwards so what is the problem"! IF we had known this we would never have purchased the property but not to move will cost another £20k in Stamp Duty and dead money.

What is the best feature of your home:

Its well insulated and warm. The best features are work we have had done post completion from our own contractors and not the ones used by Redrow as part of the buld

The houses themselves are well designed.

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

Parking is difficult as the roads are so narrow. There are a few local shops but once the development is completed there should be more shops and a pub. The development has a number of parks and green spaces.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

Not to purchase the carpets from Redrow as they are very poor quality and we would have had a greater choice if we had shopped around.

What is the best feature of your home:

Open plan kitchen & dining area - great family space

Great but not outstanding

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

Semi-rural location, good for local walks and exploring the countryside. Close to Bramhall and Poynton villages for low-key amenities. Close to the Manchester airport bypass for transport links to Manchester and neighbouring towns and cities. Local shop Budgens at the end of the road which is frequently handy. Notcutts garden centre also nearby, which stocks a range of useful products.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

That the materials used in the property are cheap and cheerful including the doors (we upgraded but they’re still thin and flimsy) the saxony carpet is a waste of money - it looked 10 years old after about 18 months and there are only 2 of us living here. Don’t get the fireplace inserts - the surround is gorgeous but the electric inserts are tacky looking (can’t bear to have it on). Check all of the structural things before you worry about the inside snags!! Check for missing insulation, roofing issues, windows (check sound levels inside), check for drafts, check fascia boards and get the drawings out and check they’ve done what the drawing says!! Then worry about the inside!

What is the best feature of your home:

We have a generous front garden in our plot and all the rooms within the house are well proportioned so there is a feeling of space.

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

Lots of lovely countryside and restaurants. Train and bus links to other villages and nearest town are poor.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

Property was not really finished and snagging still to fix.

Please share one thing (or more) which you would change about your development:

Longer driveway to enable parking for visitors cars and be further away from houses on other side of road.

Please tell us about the good and bad aspects of living in your local area:

Need bus routes from Woodford to Poynton, Handforth & Wilmslow

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

A year of two after notifying problems, several have still to be fixed.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

That the builders would not have found and rectified many of the obvious faults
