We’ve been renting in Wandsworth so had a look at an apartment in Westfield Waterside with a view to buying in the area before our son starts school – we loved it! The properties in Earlsfield are so much better value than Wandsworth, we were surprised how much more we can get for our money here – especially compared to Balham and Clapham. Love the park next door and the common too, great for families. Can’t fault the apartments – we’ll be coming back to view the townhouses.
The clue is in the name when it comes to Westfield Waterside. This apartment building in the London borough of Wandsworth is pulled up between the River Wandle and leafy King George’s Park, with townhouses that benefit from either river or park views, and apartments that overlook courtyard gardens. Wandsworth Common is close by, too, so there’s no shortage of green space or picturesque waterside views.
Developed by Linden Homes, Westfield Waterside is in the suburb of Earlsfield – an up-and-coming area of London that’s popular with professionals thanks to its swift transport links. Earlsfield mainline station is half a mile – or a six-minute walk – from the development, and London Waterloo is just a 15-minute journey from here. Southfields and Wimbledon Park underground stations are also within easy walking distance. Young families make up another significant proportion of the population of Earlsfield thanks to a selection of well-performing schools in the area.
The accommodation at Westfield Waterside is made up of one and two-bedroom apartments, and two, three and four-bed townhouses. Townhouses are sold with a private, allocated underground parking space, while a space can be purchased separately with apartments. Townhouses also offer large outdoor terraces to make the most of the surrounding views, and additional facilities at Westfield Waterside include a 12-hour concierge service.
Inside, interiors are modern and inviting – rooms are decorated in muted cream, white and fawn tones, and super-sleek fitted kitchens come as standard. Rooms are flooded with natural light thanks to full-length sliding doors that open out onto private balconies or terraces, enhancing the tranquil setting.
Practically on the doorstep is Garratt Lane, which runs through the centre of Earlsfield and connects Wandsworth High Street to Tooting Broadway. Lined with shops, pubs, cafés and restaurants, it’s the beating heart of the area. If you’re a foodie, don’t miss Wimbledon Park Farmers’ Market every Saturday at Wimbledon Park Primary School. It’s not big, but it’s well established and just as well stocked – as a couple of Time Out awards testify.

We live nearby in Earlsfield and love the location and open spaces – we used King George’s park daily in the summer, with the different playgrounds and pond area it is perfect to take the children and my husband uses it for going out on runs. We are interested in moving here and just love that whilst we are close to the busy town feel of Earlsfield I could look out my window onto open space and park land which makes such a difference to your mental state and well being.
We love the development and the space each apartment has with private terrace or balcony area. I have been really wary of moving into a new build as my bug bear with these types of properties was the lack of storage, they seem to design the room to fit a bed and don’t think about all the other things you need. However the bedrooms seem to be of a generous size but we shall see once living there. It is a 20-25 minute walk to southfields tube – no matter what anyone tells you – and we have found that this location really does need a car.
We had been looking at Clapham, Balham or Putney where we have previously rented but we felt we were spending so much money for the tiniest of places. Earlsfield has already gone up in value though so it is still expensive. We have viewed at Westfield Waterside as we felt we got so much more space for our money than buying on a terrace street, plus private outdoor space and the communal green areas. From the station the trains take 13 minutes to Waterloo and then there is also the tube at Southfields so it is well connected. Although there’s no real infrastructure in Earlsfield, Wimbledon is very close by. And down garret lane is south side – a shopping centre with movies, major chains and a waitrose – which is handy.
We have a car and I think without one living here would be a pain, whilst there are transport links nearby they arent too close for hopping off a bus with your shopping. The development is great though, beautiful flats and easy living.
