I can’t recommend Union Wharf, Essential Living and Greenwich enough. The flats are superb but the staff and location really make it something special.

The concierge are incredible! Always so friendly and helpful and yet non-intrusive so it doesn’t feel like you’re in a hotel. We’ve had a few minor issues with out flat (just with the dishwasher and bathroom) but both were sorted almost instantly.

The roof terrace will sell the building to you! Incredible views of London’s skyline, two outdoor bbq areas, comfortable seating and an indoor communal space complete with pool table and board games / books. You can also hire out a private dining room which we did last Christmas to host 20 of our friends and it was great, it made the occasion really special.

We have amazing views from our flat, never hear noise from the neighbours either side of us and having opted for furnished, were really impressed with the quality of the furniture. The only issue we have had is with a faulty dishwasher and quality of our toilet seat, but as mentioned before – both were fixed immediately.

Please tell us what you like and dislike about this area:

Greenwich is a great area – turn left down creek road and you’ll find yourself in Deptford surrounded by lots of nice brunch spots & bars – turn right and you‘ll reach Cutty Sark & Greenwich Park. (Greenwich Park has to be the highlight for me – the gardens at the top are like a mini Kew Gardens without the queue or fee and the views from up there are amazing). Walk a little further and you’re on Blackheath & again surrounded by lots of nice bars and brunch spots.

Up the creek (local comedy club) is just a 5 minute walk from Union wharf and such good value for money. We’ve had some of our best nights there.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

Just that we would be going into lockdown and that we’d have to work from home in a one bed flat for 5 months – other than that I can’t fault it

What is the best feature of your home:

The communal facilities & view from the roof terrace

Thanks for the 5 Stars, and the pictures are fab!

The managment company has ruined this otherwise great building. Steer clear!

– Beautiful views as long as you’re north facing and above the 6th floor.
– Front of house is super friendly and nice.
– External facade falling apart
– Super noisy all the time – steps from upper neighbours clearly audible, traffic from the road (especially buses opassing over bridge) is loud
– If someone is listening to music on a sound system the base reverbarates across several floors

Please tell us what you like and dislike about this area:

While Greenwich is a lovely place with fantastic heritage, this building is really in Deptford which is very run-down and full of shady characters. The nearby campus, full of students surely doesn’t mind, but quite often people spill over from Deptford.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

– Super noisy all the time – steps from upper neighbours clearly audible, traffic from the road (especially buses opassing over bridge) is loud

What is the best feature of your home:

The best feature must be the internal design and the views (as long as you’re facing north)!

Great location, great flat

Review Date Oct 2020

I’ve lived in Union Wharf for just over a year now and have thoroughly enjoyed my time spent here. The flat I live in is spacious, modern and comfortable. There are an array of fantastic amenities such as a gym, roof terrace, pool table and indoor communal space. The residents team are absolutely fantastic. Very friendly and helpful. Queries and issues are resolved really quickly so you are never inconvenienced for an extended period of time. The location is great with easy access to transport links, historical Greenwich and an array of bars and restaurants.
There are a few issues that cannot be ignored, many symptomatic of a new building. In the start there were issues with the hot water not working but thankfully that hasn’t happened for a while. There has been scaffolding around both buildings since winter when the high winds damaged some of the brickwork. There was also a building wide power issue that affected flats for a few days and damaged many appliances.
Lastly as I sit here writing this review listening to the dulcet tones of the cement works, it would be wrong not to mention the noise. The other side of Deptford creek is a cement works that operates 24 hours a day. It is extremely loud especially at night. If you live in a flat facing the creek, keep the windows closed.

Please tell us what you like and dislike about this area:

Greenwich is a lovely area with loads of history and culture. The park is close by which is great for a stroll. There are plenty of bars and restaurants along with a fantastic food market. Greenwich isn’t known for it’s shopping so be prepared to travel for food (apart from Waitrose) and larger stores.
As it is a popular tourist area and also home to a university, Greenwich does get busy especially when the sun comes out.
Transport links are pretty good with regular trains to London Bridge and the DLR runs to Canary Wharf and Bank. These are all within a short walk of Union Wharf.
The area is terrible for parking and driving so avoid bringing a car.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

I wish I knew there was a cement works across the road.

What is the best feature of your home:

Not the specific flat (which is very nice) but having the residents team is a absolute godsend.

We have been here for just over a year now and have thoroughly enjoyed it! The concierge team are always so quick to help with any problems and always happy to do so. Angie has been so helpful and always a happy face! The rooftop communal area is a lovely space to enjoy, especially whilst working from home. Overall, a great place to rent in Greenwich!

Please tell us what you like and dislike about this area:

We are situated within walking distance of various restaurants/pubs. Lots amid variety’s to choose from. DLR station is 5 minutes walking distance making it very easy to get to work.

Nothing I can think of

If there is one thing you would change about your flat or property what would it be:

Although I don’t drive, the parking for family/visitors is not always accessible!

Our best London rental experience

Verified Resident
Verified Resident
Review Date Sep 2020

Building is well-designed with various cost options to suit a wide range of affordability.
It’s pet-friendly!
BBQ, communal lounge and hire-able event space all included.
Someone at reception 24/7.
Handle incidences really well – the best rental experience I’ve had in London. I don’t think I could go back to regular rental.

Management – Running this building like a business means things just get done, you get timely responses to queries, complaints and even replacements (eg microwave broke) and no unreasonable landlords! Honestly the staff here have so impressed me with their willingness to go our of their way to assist residents and during a pandemic! I’m truly grateful to the people who run Union Wharf.

Please tell us what you like and dislike about this area:

Very close to Greenwich but over the Deptford bridge so little to no tourists.
All the spoils of Greenwich without the foot traffic. Plenty of restaurants, cafes, pubs and grocery stores.
6 mins to DLR and 10 mins to the National Rail.
Close to the Greenwich park.
Plenty of people walking their dogs in the area which is nice if you like to dog watch 🙂
Easy to walk around the area.

Some building neighbours can be noisy but the concierge sorts them out quickly once you call.
There are student residences nearby so you’ll come across noisy students sometimes but we haven’t had any major problems.
The Greenwich side can get really busy so would avoid, especially in summer.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

I asked all my questions and actually didn’t have surprise upon moving in but I know many people here expect to have parking for a car.
Greenwich council has strict rules (to help the environment) and the building cannot offer more parking, even if they wanted to. Please embrace a car free life before moving here (unless you actually need one due to disability of course).

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

The best rental experience I have ever had. After a recent power surge, they have made sure that people were put into hotels if they so needed, rapidly set out to understand the damage done and get replacements for fired appliances. They were impressive before with their generous pandemic rental discount and amazing service but the generosity of making sure people were ok and even replacing personal items just really amazed me.

We have lived in Union Wharf for just over a year now and we could not be happier with our home. The design of our flat creates a bright and airy space and the windows and balcony definitely makes the most of our wonderful views across Greenwich, Canary Wharf and central London. In addition to this the staff at Union Wharf are just amazing, they go above and beyond to help with any problem and create such a warm welcome into the building.

Please tell us what you like and dislike about this area:

Close to all local shops and amenities. Excellent transport links to central London and Kent. Greenwich is a hub of restaurants, shops and bars and to be so close to Greenwich park is amazing.

What is the best feature of your home:

The layout of our flat, love the long hallway and layout of our main bedroom

Prime Location, beautiful design, excellent service

The building is very well designed, furbished and decorated, the communal areas are modern, luxurious and very well designed and maintained. The only reason why I scored it “very good” instead of “excellent” is that I would have preferred real plants on the terrace , but I appreciate it is not easy maintenance.
The management team and reception offer an excellent service.

Please tell us what you like and dislike about this area:

Greenwhich is one of the best areas to live in London, very good restaurants, pubs, the Greenwhich Market, the river Thames, the beautiful park.. it’s just delightful. The train and DLR stations are about 5 minutes walk from Union Wharf and there are night buses that stop just in front of the building. Definitely a prime location. The only problem is that there is no parking space and I would not recommend owning a car in this location.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

I wish there was more parking space available in the building or in the aera

We’re home – The best place to live at the center of Greenwich!!

Review Date Sep 2020

After 5 years of living in London, Union Wharf finally feels like home for me and my son!! My son was born here in London and I am originally from California so it was a dream to find UW and a building with all the amenities, easy access to everything and it is always super clean! We have amazing rooftops with stellar views which have BBQs, lounges where you can WFH or have some wine and cheese. There is a pool table in one building and large areas to hire out for private events. No one usually mentions it but there is also great selections of different books to read in the common areas – even cookbooks in the kitchen. I love the fact that Essential Living/Union Wharf thought of everything as they even have a guest apartment that can be rented out for people from out of town at a very reasonable price. I do not use the gym but they have that too along with classes and social events which makes the community come together and get to know the neighbours. They are a young development and there will always be teething issues along the way. Overall it is a great place to live as I feel safe and that they are always looking out for their renters best interests. They also LOVE pets!
Lastly- they have the best team at reception who help with EVERYTHING!! I can never thank them enough.
Thanks Essential Living, we love living here!!

Please tell us what you like and dislike about this area:

My son and I love living at Union Wharf. We have been here for a year and have everything we need. There is a large Waitrose across the street and the local Tesco and Sainsbury’s Express all less than five minutes away (walking!). Even our GP/local pharmacy is across the way along with our private Dentist- who are both excellent! If you like Costa or more local places for a cuppa there are two next door.
We enjoy having Greenwich Market nearby with the Museums and Cutty Sark to visit. We use the foot tunnel too and headover to Mudchute Farm quite often as you can get there within 25 minutes or less (again -by walking!!). Greenwich Park is also amazing but this is known. The location is just great. Great transport links and lastly if you need a nursery for your child there are a few to choose from with all good or Outstanding Ofsted ratings.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

I was aware but did not pay enough attention to contract as we live next to a Quary which operates 24/7 so it can be quite loud at times.

What is the best feature of your home:

My favourite feature is the regular sized washing machine and tumble dryer.

Top Marks for Union Wharf !

I’m honestly so impressed by Union Wharf! From the professional service at concierge / prop-man, to the friendly cleaning team!! The gym is spotless and well equipped, and the roof top communal area and kitchens all kept so lovely 😊 the handling of issues within the development are brilliant such as the recent electrical fault that led to building evacuation, so impressed.

Please tell us what you like and dislike about this area:

A perfect distance from mainline and DLR, to local amenities with a selection of shops and restaurants to suit all budgets. The only thing I dislike is there not being a superstore closer.

Well-run, good-qulaity block

Reception area is spacious and makes you feel like you’re in a very flash block.

Always well staffed, residents team are very professional.

Building has had some issues with tricky tenants, but below what you’d get normally. Having one big landlord is good at ensuring that issues with neighbours can be dealt with fairly.

Always very clean in communal areas and landlord has been good at sorting extra cleaning during Covid.

Flats are very well designed, especially in terms of storage. Kitchens are good quality, but could be more spacoius. Bathrooms are almost too big (they could have shared some more space with the kitchens!)

Please tell us what you like and dislike about this area:

Just across Deptford Creek from Greenwich. Lots of pubs, bars restaurants and culture.

Not as buzzy as some parts of London, but great if you’re in your 30s and want a balance of nice area and amenities.

Transport is pretty good from Cutty Sark DLR and from Greenwich mainline.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

Live a bit further from gym, which can be a tad noisy of you are underneath it.

What is the best feature of your home:

Level of service from concierges, who are always polite and attentive.

Thank you for taking the time to write this five star review!

Simply amazing!

Review Date Aug 2020

The design of the flats are modern and comfortable, and allows space for your personal decoration. The building is always clean, it also feels safe living here.
The rooftop gym is well equipped with an amazing view. Didn’t enjoy much of the terrace yet because of the weather but it’s always good to know there is a place to sit and relax outside. The team is very professional and reactive, we had a leak from under the fridge and the problem was handled very quickly.
I have nothing to complain about 🙂

Please tell us what you like and dislike about this area:

Very close to Greenwich Park and Greenwich Market. Lovely environment when you walk towards the Cutty Sark or along the Thames. Various shops (Waitrose, Tesco), restaurants and bars. 5 min walking distance to the DLR station which takes you to Bank in 20 minutes. Also super easy to travel to City Airport (40 min).
The only thing I dislike is the cement factory right on the other side of the river.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

I wish I knew the cement factory right in front of our bedroom window could be working at any time of the day or night (even at 3 am). Now we avoid sleeping with our window open.

If there is one thing you would change about your flat or property what would it be:

Perhaps I would have the kitchen in a separate room instead of having it with the living room.
