I can’t recommend Union Wharf, Essential Living and Greenwich enough. The flats are superb but the staff and location really make it something special.

The concierge are incredible! Always so friendly and helpful and yet non-intrusive so it doesn’t feel like you’re in a hotel. We’ve had a few minor issues with out flat (just with the dishwasher and bathroom) but both were sorted almost instantly.

The roof terrace will sell the building to you! Incredible views of London’s skyline, two outdoor bbq areas, comfortable seating and an indoor communal space complete with pool table and board games / books. You can also hire out a private dining room which we did last Christmas to host 20 of our friends and it was great, it made the occasion really special.

We have amazing views from our flat, never hear noise from the neighbours either side of us and having opted for furnished, were really impressed with the quality of the furniture. The only issue we have had is with a faulty dishwasher and quality of our toilet seat, but as mentioned before – both were fixed immediately.

Please tell us what you like and dislike about this area:

Greenwich is a great area – turn left down creek road and you’ll find yourself in Deptford surrounded by lots of nice brunch spots & bars – turn right and you‘ll reach Cutty Sark & Greenwich Park. (Greenwich Park has to be the highlight for me – the gardens at the top are like a mini Kew Gardens without the queue or fee and the views from up there are amazing). Walk a little further and you’re on Blackheath & again surrounded by lots of nice bars and brunch spots.

Up the creek (local comedy club) is just a 5 minute walk from Union wharf and such good value for money. We’ve had some of our best nights there.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

Just that we would be going into lockdown and that we’d have to work from home in a one bed flat for 5 months – other than that I can’t fault it

What is the best feature of your home:

The communal facilities & view from the roof terrace

Manager Response

Thanks for the 5 Stars, and the pictures are fab!

Beautiful apartments in great location near Greenwich centre.

Review Date May 2022

The building, the apartments and the facilities are beautifully designed with a modern feel and lovely furniture. There are several useful amenities like car hire on location (via an app), very reasonably priced extra storage, gorgeous communal areas and more. Some amenities (like the guest apartment which can be rented for visitors, or parking spaces) are very sought after so require booking well in advance. When little things go wrong in the apartment (such as leaks or minor technical issues) the handymen are brilliant, fixing everything quickly and efficiently! Only thing that couldn’t be fixed was the weak shower pressure in one of the bathrooms. The residents team is helpful and approachable, and there is someone around 24/7 (either residents staff or security) which is great. The building is very safe. As a pet owner I wish other pet-owning residents were more thoughtful/respectful in terms of lead rules etc, but this is not really the fault of management.

Please tell us what you like and dislike about this area:

The apartments are very near the centre of Greenwich, so with just a short walk one can reach many cafes and restaurants. There are also lots of open spaces with the Cutty Sark being very near, the Royal Navy College and of course Greenwich park (all within 5-12 min walk). Transport links are good with two DLR stations nearby and a bus stop right outside the block. The main street is fairly busy with traffic but not too noisy. Parking is not easy and unfortunately the area behind the building can be extremely dirty with lots of litter everywhere. If you only walk towards Greenwich though you can avoid this completely. Also, shops are a bit touristy but Lewisham is easy to get to for more “everyday” type shopping. One thing I really miss is a good farmers market.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

There are very many pets in the building, which is great (I have two) but this requires a bit of effort and management if you have a nervous/anxious dog. In all other aspects this is a fantastic place to live. The for-hire roof-top dining rooms/kitchens/bbqs are a fabulous idea and offer a brilliant way to entertain guests without the headache of having lots of people in your home!

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

We haven’t had any major problems but anything small that has occurred (leaks, minor issue with heating etc) have been dealt with quickly and efficiently by the in-house team.

The development is modern and well kept, with beautiful design and really nice amenities. The exterior of the building could be improved, as well as the general tidiness of the green areas around. The views are amazing and the floor area is very cozy.

Please tell us what you like and dislike about this area:

Great area with a selection of supermarkets and shops to choose from. Traffic can be noisy at times.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

I wish I had known there is a concrete deposit opposite the building.

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

The resident’s team is very responsive and has fixed any issue in a day or so.

Love the development. Building is amazing. The roof top is such a nice space to have in the summer and even winter. All the staff are lovely and so friendly and helpful. The whole building has such a friendly and warm atmosphere

Please tell us what you like and dislike about this area:

Location is excellent due to transport links. Also plenty of small shops, restaurants and bars in greenwich which is lovely. Only downside of this area is not much free parking

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

That all the apartments are different

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

Always fixed asap, always reply to queries also…..

Nice and loud.

Verified Resident

Review Date May 2022

Overall the building is nice but the pool table is in disrepair and it’s sometimes difficult to use the communal spaces on the weekend because they get really busy especially when the weather is nice. The front desk staff are great and the flats look nice.

Please tell us what you like and dislike about this area:

The ilmediat location is very loud – much louder than you would think it would be. The nearby cement factory fundtions 24h/day and there are always emergency service sirens.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

The road and cement factory are far more disturbing than you imagine. Probably live in the other side of the development.

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

Response is quick and helpful whenever you have concerns.

Great building, great people, amazing staff.

I cannot praise concierge enough, they go above and beyond. Even small things, always a friendly face, never a rolled eye and we’ve lived here for 3 years. That’s rare in London! Cleaners are also amazing, the building is always immaculate.

However the scaffolding has been on the building for years and no one really knows why but that is a little issue. Overall great but concierge in particular, they basically manage all needs!

1 point – when we moved in we was told the roof terrace was 24 hrs, changed within covid but never changed back which is upsetting.

Please tell us what you like and dislike about this area:

Local area is great, Greenwich park moments away, Waitrose across the road and essential shops nearby. Greenwich and Cutty sark station within 7 minute walk. Building demographic is very friendly and homely. Only downside is the concrete factory noise late at night but we knew when we signed so can’t complain! Overall a great location.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

That the roof terrace’s times would change from 24 hrs to until 12pm.

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

They have been willing and understanding. Unfortunately some issues didn’t get sorted for a while but not for lack of trying.

Amazing area, beautiful modern building. Just needs some extra care

Verified Resident
Verified Resident
Review Date May 2022

The building is very modern and stylish and communal areas are beautifully furnished. I would love if they were kept better though. For example the pool table looks years old with the cloth worn out and the sticks are in terrible condition. In the terrace the fake plants need to be replaced as they’re all broken and most of them have just flown away.
In general the communal areas are very clean but I cannot say the same about the gym. There’s a lot of dust and fluff on the machines, they need a good clean.

Please tell us what you like and dislike about this area:

The area is amazing, I’ve lived in SE8 for 8 years and I love it. The river side, Greenwich park, lots of nature. Amazing pubs and restaurants of all sorts and Greenwich Market is just so beautiful. Only 1 downside could be that there’s no tube, but there’s DLR and train station within 5 min walk and night bus stops just in front of the building.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

Nothing, I knew it would have been awesome to live here and it lived up to my expectations

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

As I said before every time we needed something replaced or fixed in our flat it was done promptly

Great part of London and an easy building to live in

Verified Resident
Verified Resident
Review Date May 2022

The development is well-presented, and will hopefully be even more so when the cladding is repaired and scaffolding removed. As the tallest block in the area, the views from the roof are fantastic and it’s a lovely place to sit and watch the sunset with a glass of wine. Whilst there are even taller blocks planned to the East and South, which will affect the views, the North-facing view towards the river will be unaffected and so the roof terrace will retain its attractiveness. Communal areas are kept in good order and clean, and every aspect has had some thought put into it which makes living here very easy. Other residents who discuss noise have valid comments – you can hear the road, you can hear footsteps in the flat above you… but that’s my general experience of living in a flat especially in a busy city. The Resident’s Team are very helpful, and were very supportive during self-isolation, and the Accounts and Utilities team were quick to rectify issues when they arose on one occasion.

Please tell us what you like and dislike about this area:

Union Wharf is located between Greenwich and Deptford, just a 5-minute walk away from Cutty Sark DLR station and on a 24/7 bus route. Mainline stations are a little further but easy walks, and there are river boat services from Greenwich Pier which is a great way to travel. It’s one of the nicest parts of London, and you won’t be short of friends wanting to visit as there’s always things to do – museums, theatre and comedy, galleries, restaurants, bars and pubs, the park, events, and more. Having lived in the area for about 5 years, there’s nowhere else I’d rather be. Being so close to the River Thames is particularly special.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

The small gym/fitness room can often be busy and so has meant its a feature of the building I would like to use a lot but don’t. There’s talk of it being moved to the Ground Floor and expanded in a significant way, but whether that becomes a reality remains to be seen. Still, plenty of other gyms in the area (including one a 3-minute walk away) but it would be nice to have a proper one on-site.

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

Any maintenance requests are quickly and efficiently dealt with, and there’s no job too small. Both residents and the landlord want to maintain the entire building to a high standard, and so the response to such reports are properly addressed.

Great place to live!

Firstly, the views are INSANE! Hands down best views in London. The building itself is gorgeous, modern, and stylish. The facilities are great and always well kept. The gym is fairly small so it would be nicer to have more space there. The building management team is lovely and always super responsive. We are grateful for everything they do.

Please tell us what you like and dislike about this area:

Location-wise, this building is situated perfectly in the heart of Greenwich. You have so many local shops around you, you have the Greenwich centre, the market, cutty sark, museums, and Greenwich park all at a short walking distance.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

It’s a pet friendly building, which I’m completely happy with, but I wasn’t told that before I moved in. I think that’s definitely an important thing to note.

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

The team always responds promptly and will try to fix the problem/issue as soon as possible.

Upper class apartments without the upper class prices!

Staff are wonderful here, they remember your name and always want to help. They’re very quick to react when fire alarms go off and keep you updated through emails with this going on in the area or if you have any issues to raise, they do their best and pass you onto the right people. Design is very modern and warm. The bookcases and chairs are a great touch and very welcoming. All my guests so far have been wowed by this complex. Great views at the top of the roofs. Really beneficial that there is a members only gym with easy access too. I really like that the staff will host nights in the building which is a great chance to meet your neighbours and others here.

Please tell us what you like and dislike about this area:

Ideally located with easy access to both DLR and bus routes. Not far from the local bars/pubs/restaurants and lots of greenery nearby too which is great for London. Only downside in my opinion of this apartment is being next to the water, there is a workboat that comes early in the morning (2-3am) so is really noisy, especially with your windows open but you soon get used too it. Its a very friendly area and I have not seen much trouble at all since being here.

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

I wish I’d known about the work boat that comes in the very early hours sometimes. It’s quite noisy and I would have considered a higher floor if I’d known this however its not a big issue to me personally.

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

The front of house team are always on the ball and are quick with their responses. We’ve had consistent issues with our heating which isnt their fault however they have always so far done the best they can and pointed us towards the best person who can help more.

Great Development

The building is really modern and has great facilities, such as the roof top kitchen, bbq and communal spaces. There is also a free gym in too. The only criticism is the scaffolding that’s still up around the building despite several promises that the issue would be resolved.

Please tell us what you like and dislike about this area:

The area is great with lots of green space in Greenwich Park and also lots of eating out places in the centre of Greenwich

Please share one thing (or more) which you wish you had known before you moved in:

The community fee in the building is great. There is a residents Facebook group where people are always willing to help out

How has the building management responded to any problems or issues you have raised:

All problems are sorted quickly and often on the same day
