Union, M3

New build property, very clean and tidy. Great property management , good facilities. Union plus is expensive though , wish I could get it maybe in the future. Design is very nice. I am on a top floor so it has a great view and I feel great. The property management make it 10x better

the design of the rooms and buildings is really modern and well considered. you have everything you need in your room, a really nice clean bathroom with a really good water pressure shower. the umber bed storage also allows you to store all ur stuff you don’t want out all the time, and is easy enough to access whenever you meed

Good - Discount for NHS workers living in the building is great and very appreciated - Flats are nicely designed with good amounts of space and natural light. Shared spaces downstairs etc are equally well designed and well thought out - Mail system is good, get an email with a QR code to collect your parcels and other mail goes into flat assigned mail boxes, makes the process very smooth - Location is brilliant for accessing multiple areas of Manchester both via walking and public transport making the daily commute straight forward - Bathroom layout in general is very good, multiple areas to store things with big deep in built shelves also water pressure is great - The views are incredible, granted I’m on the 22nd floor but I imagine overall the views are good across all floors - The staff are so nice, always willing to help and support and just generally a friendly face when you walk in the door. Also communication via email etc is very fast and easy, been painless communicating with them - Council tax, electricity, water and wifi included meaning no additional stress (unsure if would be cheaper to do it yourself but honestly the stress it’s taken out of my life is a godsend) - In general I’d say not a terribly noisy area, yes the Aviva studios can have stuff going on and if you have your window open you can hear it but windows closed blocks the noise and I can’t hear corridor noise a lot of the time either Letdowns - Honestly to a degree the cost, it’s very expensive however it’s city centre living and for me I can’t complain due to the NHS discount scheme. I would say Union Plus is very expensive and somewhat elitist as paying that on top of rent is not feasible but for those that can I imagine a good addition - The fobs, mine glitches multiple times per day, has delays or sometimes just simply doesn’t work which is quite frustrating especially given the amount of times you need to use your fob to get to places. For example, my flat to the laundry room is 5 fob swipes which seems quite a lot but I guess it’s secure! - Flat mate matching could do with some tweaking I think, it’s never going to be perfect and that’s ok but just some more specific questions would be really beneficial. I’m vegetarian with several dietary needs and this wasn’t a matching question and now I’m unfortunately restricted in my kitchen use due to contaminants etc - Better introduction to room mates, on the matching form a simple ‘would you be happy upon a room mate match to share your name, gender, age and email address/ social media’ would actually be good at taking out the anxiety of meeting random strangers in a new flat - Also when you’re getting a new room mate you get an email saying there’s someone coming on X date but no time frame in the day. You book a time frame to move in so they have a rough idea of this. I didn’t know my new flat mate moved in and got quite a fright walking into a stranger in my kitchen which honestly scared us both a little bit - Windows not having safety catches or an ability to control the level of open/ shut. If they’re slightly open and the wind blows then they’re fully open, if the wind blows the other way they’re fully closed. There’s no way to lock it at a specific open point which is not ideal - The bin chutes in general just get overloaded and can only be accessed on the ground floor - The kitchen bin is split into 3 tiny compartments (which I imagine is so the bin chute doesn’t block) but generally is just an inconvenient size - All the surfaces are black and matt in appearance which whilst it looks very nice it does show everything. It looks unclean at all times no matter what you do, dust, finger marks, wipe marks where you’ve tried to clean it - it’s there all the time! - Kitchen sink isn’t well thought out and has no area of water drainage for dishes and also even if the tap is on low splashes everywhere so you and the worktops are soaked each time you wash dishes - Wifi cuts out every 2 weeks and you need to log back in, there is a way to change this but I’ve tried it multiple times and it still stops working every 2 weeks plus on weekdays can be VERY SLOW - Not an issue I’ve had so far but the amount of washers and dryers doesn’t seem sufficient for the amount of people in the building - ‘No deposit!!’ but there is fees for reservation which get dropped in via email at a later date

The design is very cool and cozy. The furniture is easy to clean, which saves up a lot of time after cooking! The management is super helpful, with issues like plumbing or getting locked out. I just wish someone was available at the reception at every time, because I understand they handle a lot of other issues and so sometimes you’d have to wait for a long time for someone to attend to you. The facilities like gym and working spaces are great - just wish laundry was a bit cheaper for non-U+ members.

I love living at Union, currently in a standard quad and the rooms are really modern and all the basics are provided. The kitchen is spacious and also fitted with modern appliances - plenty of storage for the 4 of us in my flat. The amenities are great, I’m a member of the U+ and it is a little costly at £90 extra per month but if you make the most of the facilities it’s definitely worth getting. Couldn’t recommend Union enough if your looking for a bills included city centre flat.
